French Creek Farms is a 50+ acre farm nestled along the banks of French Creek in Venango County Pennsylvania. We have creekside sites as well as some field side sites with water access. You can kayak and canoe on French Creek or just bring some floats if you don't want to paddle.
There is a short walking trail on the grounds that leads through our Christmas tree farm. You can also fish from the banks or in a small pond on the property. There are some state and county parks within driving range such as Two-mile run County Park and Lake Wilhelm State Park.

Hemlock Hideaway and its 18 acres was originally part of a larger 100-acre plot that was surveyed and settled in the late 1700's by Gideon Granger of the Connecticut Land Company.
Granger sold it to one Jehoikim Burget in 1815 for the whopping price of $400.
The resident house was built in 1816 by Burget and then passed down to family members over the next 5 generations, until we bought it in 2003, marking the first time the house and remaining property were ever officially sold.
In the mid 1800's, a grist mill was put up across the river from the cabin, and our creek was the main road in and out of that operation.
There is a gravestone belonging to the wife of Jehoikim's son, she being half
Native American and therefore couldn't be buried in the local white cemetery.
We also own the original hand-written deed from 1815 detailing the sale of the original 100 acres to Jehoikim Burget.

Our primitive cabin nestled in the woods overlooking the Grand River is a nature-lover's paradise! Come canoe, fish, experience wine country, or unplug and just get away from it all. Please note: There is no running water or electricity at the site, but the cabin is generator-ready and there is an outhouse.
The cabin does have a wood burning stove for heat and simple cooking, however there is no running water or electricity. That being said, the building is wired and has plugs and outlets and is generator-ready. You provide your own generator and fuel. We provide sheets, pillows, flashlights, a fire ring with cooking grate, charcoal grill (you provide the charcoal), access to firewood, and an outhouse with toilet paper. Our 1/4 mile of Grand River frontage can be accessed right outside the cabin door via a quick hike down the steep hillside. If hiking isn't preferred, then a quick two-minute drive will take you to the Harpersfield Covered Bridge Metropark - a favorite of local fishermen. Bigger groups with tents are welcome, but will need to bring all supplies beyond what we provide for two guests.

Naturalist Isabelle H. Klein wrote a collection of letters from her home of Sawdust (named form the sawdust left by the loggers of the early 60’s) for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s Explorer Magazine from the winter of 1969 to the summer of 1976.
They then were published as the book “Letters From Sawdust” by the Press of Case Western Reserve University for the Museum. It is a lyrical voyage through the seasons at the Sawdust Tract in Northeast Ohio. She details encounters with the wildlife of the area as well as the changing seasons and plant life. Reminiscent of Thoreau's writings about Walden.
In 1978 an additional house was moved onto the property from Sidley's gravel pit and joined with the existing Klein farmhouse. We decided to preserve almost 400 acres of the property with the help of the Western Reserve Land Conservatory for the Cleveland Museum Of Natural History, Natural Areas. Forest is home to the red-sided dace, and 10 rare species of birds, including cerulean warblers.
The original small family farm and surrounding woods we have retained are being restored and updated.
We are proud to call Sawdust home and would love to share it with you.

Deep in our property is our camping area. Because the bell tent and tent camping share a large picnic area + fire ring, we only allow one to be booked at a time so you can enjoy a relaxing, private experience. The spacious bell tent includes a double futon mattress and bedding. A single mattress may be added. Kindly note that this particular offering is child- and pet-free.

French Creek Farms is a 50+ acre farm nestled along the banks of French Creek in Venango County Pennsylvania. We have creekside sites as well as some field side sites with water access. You can kayak and canoe on French Creek or just bring some floats if you don't want to paddle.
There is a short walking trail on the grounds that leads through our Christmas tree farm. You can also fish from the banks or in a small pond on the property. There are some state and county parks within driving range such as Two-mile run County Park and Lake Wilhelm State Park.

Hemlock Hideaway and its 18 acres was originally part of a larger 100-acre plot that was surveyed and settled in the late 1700's by Gideon Granger of the Connecticut Land Company.
Granger sold it to one Jehoikim Burget in 1815 for the whopping price of $400.
The resident house was built in 1816 by Burget and then passed down to family members over the next 5 generations, until we bought it in 2003, marking the first time the house and remaining property were ever officially sold.
In the mid 1800's, a grist mill was put up across the river from the cabin, and our creek was the main road in and out of that operation.
There is a gravestone belonging to the wife of Jehoikim's son, she being half
Native American and therefore couldn't be buried in the local white cemetery.
We also own the original hand-written deed from 1815 detailing the sale of the original 100 acres to Jehoikim Burget.

Our primitive cabin nestled in the woods overlooking the Grand River is a nature-lover's paradise! Come canoe, fish, experience wine country, or unplug and just get away from it all. Please note: There is no running water or electricity at the site, but the cabin is generator-ready and there is an outhouse.
The cabin does have a wood burning stove for heat and simple cooking, however there is no running water or electricity. That being said, the building is wired and has plugs and outlets and is generator-ready. You provide your own generator and fuel. We provide sheets, pillows, flashlights, a fire ring with cooking grate, charcoal grill (you provide the charcoal), access to firewood, and an outhouse with toilet paper. Our 1/4 mile of Grand River frontage can be accessed right outside the cabin door via a quick hike down the steep hillside. If hiking isn't preferred, then a quick two-minute drive will take you to the Harpersfield Covered Bridge Metropark - a favorite of local fishermen. Bigger groups with tents are welcome, but will need to bring all supplies beyond what we provide for two guests.

Naturalist Isabelle H. Klein wrote a collection of letters from her home of Sawdust (named form the sawdust left by the loggers of the early 60’s) for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s Explorer Magazine from the winter of 1969 to the summer of 1976.
They then were published as the book “Letters From Sawdust” by the Press of Case Western Reserve University for the Museum. It is a lyrical voyage through the seasons at the Sawdust Tract in Northeast Ohio. She details encounters with the wildlife of the area as well as the changing seasons and plant life. Reminiscent of Thoreau's writings about Walden.
In 1978 an additional house was moved onto the property from Sidley's gravel pit and joined with the existing Klein farmhouse. We decided to preserve almost 400 acres of the property with the help of the Western Reserve Land Conservatory for the Cleveland Museum Of Natural History, Natural Areas. Forest is home to the red-sided dace, and 10 rare species of birds, including cerulean warblers.
The original small family farm and surrounding woods we have retained are being restored and updated.
We are proud to call Sawdust home and would love to share it with you.

Deep in our property is our camping area. The property is great! There weren't leaves on the trees yet when we stayed in early April, but it still felt private and secluded which is really important to us. We loved having a metal roof over one of the fire pits which came in handy during our first night there and we were hit with a downpour. We enjoyed hearing the donkey in the distance, too.
We spent the next day hiking at Allegheny National Forest (we really loved the Beaver Meadow Loop Trail) and our Australian shepherd loved it too.
The cabin itself was super clean and the perfect amount of space for what we needed. The only drawback was the 1 single twin sized bed at the ground level. There are multiple beds upstairs, but the staircase to go upstairs is not safe for dogs, and dogs are not allowed upstairs (understandably so!). Our Aussie likes to snuggle with us and would certainly attempt to climb up to us, so we slept in the twin bed the first night. The second night, we split up and 1 person slept upstairs and the other person slept downstairs. It was not a big deal, and we probably should have thought about the sleeping arrangements ahead of time.

Weekend Trip to Elk Valley Creekside
My family and I have camped here on several occasions now and it’s always great. Elk Creek is just outside the door of the tent with a gushing waterfall on the other side of the stream that is really great to listen to while you sit on the deck out front and read a book or if you choose to head to bed and just listen to the peepers and the water, that’s great too! We can’t wait to try a winter adventure at the site and fish for steelhead.

Troy is a great and responsive host.
The cabin is very clean and is exactly as pictured. It has many thoughtful conveniences (a plastic cooler built into the bar top, in case you bring ice and drinks, a charging station for phones, interior and exterior lights on remote controls, etc etc). The bathroom is very clean. The cabin was stocked with a generous supply of firewood. (I only used the indoor iron stove, and not the outdoor fire pit, as it was raining both nights I stayed there. But both options can add enjoyment to your stay.)
The cabin sits on a scenic property. The grounds immediately around the cabin are very nicely maintained (green, mowed grass, trees, benches, etc). Beyond the immediate grounds is farmland that is enjoyable to look out over.
I had a very positive experience and recommend this property.

My girlfriend and I loved our stay here for our anniversary! The cabin was decently sized, pretty, very private, and had all the amenities.
On the few days we stayed, it snowed pretty heavily and dropped to temperatures well below what was expected, but the pipes never froze, the heating was great, and hot water in the shower still worked.
The cabin has lots of amenities including a nice stove, sink, fridge, and microwave. The host clearly stays there sometimes, as there was a lot of his stuff around. He provided dishes, silverware, and many toiletries among other things. The cabin has a nice firepit outside along with a pavilion that are a very nice place to share a campfire meal.
Overall, we loved the place! The host was very kind and gave us some tips on how to make sure the pipes didn't freeze. The only negatives were: 1. The cleanliness of the place: While it was clear that the place had been tidied and there were no super gross parts, the owner missed several things, such as a Hershey bar wrapper, that were on the floor. 2. The driveway was very steep and gravel. With 4WD, we were able to drive on it with some snow, but without 4WD there is no chance we would have made it. Besides these small issues though, it was an idyllic place for a couple to relax and get some time away from the world!

Geneva on the lake is only 15 mins away with plenty of stuff to make for a busy weekend or to stay put and light a fire, relax and unwind. The hosts are very accommodating and easy to work with. I had a great weekend of camping. The cabin was clean and very comfortable. The wood burning stove provided the perfect amount of warmth. I enjoyed the sounds of all the wildlife outside the doors. From the geese to the pack of howling coyotes, to all the farm animals in the area. Tim had the outside fire pit already set and the inside stove as well. He made sure we were stocked with more than enough wood for the weekend, and messaged me to make sure I still had enough wood. The outdoor porta potty was very clean and a very nice perk from our normal camping locations. It was also nice being able to let my dog run free all weekend. He enjoyed that very much. I highly recommend this site and will definitely be coming back here again!

Weekend Trip to The River Otter Den - Riverfront!
Amazing. From the view of the fall leaves and the Allegheny, to how nice the cabin was, to having a chimnied fire pit. Everything was perfect,. We usually do primitive sites, but I figured we could go glamping for once, and it was beyond anything I could expect. Meghan was super accommodating and a really nice host as well. 11/10 we'll definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Hemlock Hideaway
It was everything we expected and more. Lisa and her husband were very accommodating. Went above and beyond for us. We were very happy we stayed there. What an amazing location directly on the Grand River, down the street from the Harperfield Bridge and minutes from so many great wineries and restaurants. We would highly recommend.

Very private . Nicely kept tiny home. Had everything we needed.
Bring sheets if sleeping bag and own towels. But I didn’t find that to be an issue. Great place for dogs as well.

We had such a great stay! The site was right along the creek—super peaceful and relaxing. We loved walking in the creek, cooking over the fire, and hanging out by the campfire at night. The setup was beautiful, and Barry was a wonderful, welcoming host. We can’t wait to go back!

So peaceful and charming. Had the best weekend. Just bring your own sheets and food and everything else is provided. You will have an amazing time at this tiny house.

Weekend Trip to Elk Valley Creekside
We cant express how stunning this property is. The pictures simply don't do it any justice. Barry and his son were wonderful hosts during our stay. They provided plenty of fire wood and water. The bed was comfortable and the tent was cozy. They did offer a heater in case we were too cold at night but we were just fine. Waking up to the sounds of nature and the creek were incredible. Saw my first bald eagle in real life! We couldn't be happier. This site has now become a tradition for us. Cant wait to visit again

Weekend Trip to Sawdust FarmCamp
This was my second time staying at this site. It’s very quiet and secluded yet only 10 minutes from all of the Geneva wineries. The tent is a good size and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely be back soon!

The tent was lovely, and huge! There was beautiful lights around it, and the mattress was cozy. The surrounding land is beautiful and it is so peaceful. Highly recommend for anyone looking to get away for a bit!
