We are a community in Northwestern Pennsylvania located outside the town of Springboro. Many people come through the area to visit Lake Erie. Others come in to hunt in the nearby state game lands. Fishermen especially seek places to stay, but they can be hard to find. We look forward to welcoming them to our community.
One of our residents has a greenhouse with beautiful plants and another sells honey. In town, our neighbor has a hunting store that includes an indoor simulated archery experience. Up the road is Chupp's Country Cupboard, an Amish store that offers fresh and unique items.

Hemlock Hideaway and its 18 acres was originally part of a larger 100-acre plot that was surveyed and settled in the late 1700's by Gideon Granger of the Connecticut Land Company.
Granger sold it to one Jehoikim Burget in 1815 for the whopping price of $400.
The resident house was built in 1816 by Burget and then passed down to family members over the next 5 generations, until we bought it in 2003, marking the first time the house and remaining property were ever officially sold.
In the mid 1800's, a grist mill was put up across the river from the cabin, and our creek was the main road in and out of that operation.
There is a gravestone belonging to the wife of Jehoikim's son, she being half
Native American and therefore couldn't be buried in the local white cemetery.
We also own the original hand-written deed from 1815 detailing the sale of the original 100 acres to Jehoikim Burget.

Our primitive cabin nestled in the woods overlooking the Grand River is a nature-lover's paradise! Come canoe, fish, experience wine country, or unplug and just get away from it all. Please note: There is no running water or electricity at the site, but the cabin is generator-ready and there is an outhouse.
The cabin does have a wood burning stove for heat and simple cooking, however there is no running water or electricity. That being said, the building is wired and has plugs and outlets and is generator-ready. You provide your own generator and fuel. We provide sheets, pillows, flashlights, a fire ring with cooking grate, charcoal grill (you provide the charcoal), access to firewood, and an outhouse with toilet paper. Our 1/4 mile of Grand River frontage can be accessed right outside the cabin door via a quick hike down the steep hillside. If hiking isn't preferred, then a quick two-minute drive will take you to the Harpersfield Covered Bridge Metropark - a favorite of local fishermen. Bigger groups with tents are welcome, but will need to bring all supplies beyond what we provide for two guests.

Naturalist Isabelle H. Klein wrote a collection of letters from her home of Sawdust (named form the sawdust left by the loggers of the early 60’s) for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s Explorer Magazine from the winter of 1969 to the summer of 1976.
They then were published as the book “Letters From Sawdust” by the Press of Case Western Reserve University for the Museum. It is a lyrical voyage through the seasons at the Sawdust Tract in Northeast Ohio. She details encounters with the wildlife of the area as well as the changing seasons and plant life. Reminiscent of Thoreau's writings about Walden.
In 1978 an additional house was moved onto the property from Sidley's gravel pit and joined with the existing Klein farmhouse. We decided to preserve almost 400 acres of the property with the help of the Western Reserve Land Conservatory for the Cleveland Museum Of Natural History, Natural Areas. Forest is home to the red-sided dace, and 10 rare species of birds, including cerulean warblers.
The original small family farm and surrounding woods we have retained are being restored and updated.
We are proud to call Sawdust home and would love to share it with you.

Most days you can park right at the campsite (unless we've had a lot of rain and the ground is soft). This means you can bring your pop-up camper, teardrop, or sprinter van and have a private camping experience. Add breakfast and let us do the cooking for you!
Blue Cabin:

Located just down the road from our farm, the Blue Cabin is a private, off-grid cabin on a heavily wooded lot. Enjoy lots of shade, and a space that often stays cool, even in the heat of summer. Slippery Rock Creek is a natural waterway and conditions can change quickly. Water levels and currents may increase after rain or storms. Guests enter and use the creek area at their own discretion and should exercise caution.
Children must be closely supervised around the creek at all times. Pets should also be kept under control near the water. Do not enter the creek during high water, strong currents, or unsafe conditions.
The creek bank and surrounding terrain may be uneven, slippery, or muddy. Appropriate footwear is recommended, especially when walking near the water.

1 night at Elk Valley Creekside
We LOVED Barry’s camp. Seriously, one of the best camping spots we’ve been to. Incredibly private, immaculately kept, and Barry even called in the bald eagles for a show. We travel with two rescue dogs who love to run and prefer nature over people. This place delivered and then some. If we ever travel near Erie again, this will be the place we camp. Definitely, recommend Presque Isle State Park if you have extra time.

Weekend Trip to Sawdust FarmCamp
This was my fourth time staying here. It’s a beautiful, secluded and quiet area but still just minutes from all of the Geneva wineries. The host was very nice and helpful and provided everything we needed for our stay. It was a perfect fall weekend getaway!

We love to tent camp, but weather looked rainy so we opted for somewhere with a roof. We fell in love with this place! The house is adorable and clean with a huge front porch overlooking a flat yard that was great for kids. Behind the house is a fire pit area with cover, and there are plenty of walking paths for adventure and to get out and moving. Completely secluded and quiet. If you have a dog, bring a water and food bowl, otherwise the house is stocked with everything you could need.
Notes is you’re traveling with kids (ours are 7 and 3)- the climb to the lofted beds is steep, but our kids figured it out and managed not to hurt themselves. There’s a twin daybed on the main floor that’s an alternative option. Shower was hot. Stepstool in the bathroom. Cute ice cream shop 10-15 min away. It was fantastic!

2 nights at CHERRY VALLEY CHILL
Peaceful Amish country retreat tucked between crop fields. Incredible stargazing, relaxing atmosphere, occasional tractors, and galloping horse-and-buggies. Great nearby park and Amish stores.

Larry's tiny home and large covered area was perfect for my family and me! My parents stayed in the tiny house and my husband and I camped out back in the tent. Even though it rained pretty heavily, we were warm and dry under the covered pavilion. We will absolutely be back!

Weekend Trip to Hemlock Hideaway
Easy check in and check out, very cute place. Cabin had extra batteries, easy firewood access, clear directions to the site and the host was even kind enough to make the trip to the post office to mail back our son’s favorite books we left behind. Very quiet yet close to a store if needed. We would stay here again!

Troy has created an awesome place. It was comfortable, relaxing, and truly one of a kind. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique getaway.
When we arrived, Troy had a cozy fire already going outside and had even prepared the indoor stove for its first use. Those thoughtful touches really went above and beyond and made us feel immediately welcome.

Weekend Trip to Flannel Dog Farm
My husband and I had the best little staycation at this little cabin for his birthday! Very easy to find, quiet, comfy and well built! Love the access to the woods and fire pit. Even with heavy thunderstorms it was a magical experience in nature. If you are a couple looking for a new place to camp we would give this stay a 9.2/10!

Loved the peaceful and private cabin. Great fire circle with wood provided. Safe place for my dog to wander the grounds. Troy has gone above and beyond by providing so many extras like solar power, clean and spacious restroom, screening to enjoy the night time from the queen size air mattress bunk bed.

Barry's property is truly beautiful. This campsite is awesome and highly worth it. A majority of things we packed we didn't even need! There's two fire pits, both with grates for cooking. Two solar showers, a table, utensils, etc. There was also a water spring not to far away. We fished the bass pond and had a blast. We definitely want to come back.
