This land was homesteaded by my great grandparents in 1900 as part of the Homestead Act of 1862. After losing my store to fire in 2013, I took the leap, and decided to open the farm to the public. I have a menagerie of animals, many rescued or adopted, that love all the attention. About this space
The "Kick Back Tiny Shack" has a queen size bed, small futon bed (for a child) along with two single camp cots. This tiny house can sleep up to four people (2-3 most comfortably) depending on your needs. There is a mini fridge with mini freezer along with a mini gas range/oven, microwave, coffee pot and toaster. There is a TV with only local channels available. Wi-Fi is available at nearby restaurants. AT&T works well here; all others are very sketchy. The cabin has a freestanding gas fireplace to keep you cozy and warm. Come prepared to relax. This is a rustic cabin with all amenities so no need to pack up dishes, bedding, towels, etc. (bring sleeping bag and pillow for anything other than the queen size bed.) The kitchen is fully stocked with your basic cooking and dining essentials. If you don't want to do dishes you are welcome to bring your own paper plates, etc. Coffee, Salt, pepper, dish soap and hand soap, toilet paper and one roll of paper towels provided. There is no running water, but you will be supplied with an electric pump faucet with 10 gallons of water for the kitchen sink for doing dishes, etc. There is also a pump faucet for the outhouse sink. You can heat water on the stove with the pot supplied. In addition, 1 gallon of drinking water will be supplied also. There is a heated outhouse next to the cabin which has a shower stall in which you can shower with an electric pump shower, 120 gallons of water and on demand water heater. Towels are provided and if you need more water, you can contact us, and we can refill at our home which is located next door. Please allow notice in case we are not home at the time. The contact information will be provided with your booking confirmation. You have your own private yard on our 6 acres with a BBQ pit in the summer months, firepit and grill off of the back deck year-round. If you chose to bring a four-wheeler, canoe, boat or snowmobile there is plenty of parking space depending on the quantity. Snowmobiles & side by sides are available for rent 3 miles up the road from the cabin. Come and unwind or explore the many wonders that the Northwoods has to offer! The interior of the cabin is newly refinished. The exterior will be improved as time goes by.

Named in honor of a late great nature enthusiast from the owners' family, Vaddu's Nature Reserve offers a cute cabin for rent in 40 acres of picturesque North Minnesota hunting/birdwatching territory, 10 minutes from Bob Dylan's home town of Hibbing, 45 minutes from Duluth, and 3 hours from the Twin Cities. Barely 10 minutes north of the Sax-Zim Bog, one often hears a veritable symphony of birds while at the site.
The glampsite is ideal for folks who want to enjoy nature, find tranquility, and access nearby attractions in north Minnesota. A driveway provides easy access from Gerzin Road for people who might have a hard time walking long distances, with driveway parking right by the campsite; The location provides birding, hiking, bogging, and snow-shoeing possibilities for people of various abilities, both in the property and at nearby attractions like Washington State Forest or Cloquet Valley. Property is about half wetland and half forest, so ensure you safely prepare for expeditionary activities you might undertake...but you already knew that :-)
A map is attached with the photos, where the light green is bog/wetland and the darker green is forest, with the campsite shown in a white pin drop and some other markers like deer stands and feed lots in red/blue pin drops. The trails are marked in teal lines on the map (some blaze orange ribbons on trees irl) but not state-park-level by any measure (goals!) My buddy who has leased the hunting rights this year maintains the trails from time to time, but be aware of both, overgrowth and marshland. Dress in bright colors.
The campsite has a campfire setup, picnic table, firewood pile, other seating areas, space to play games/sports (some equipment provided), grills, propane stoves (propane not provided), an outhouse, borewell water (not drinkable without boiling/treatment but can be used for dishes, washing etc.). The cabin has heat by way of a propane heater. Solar-powered lantern in the cabin can charge cell phones. NOT ON THE GRID, but a generator takes care of any electronic or electrical appliances you might want to run. Bring drinking-water/TP/food/layers/sleeping-bags/blankets/trash-bags/repellant/etc.

This is a fantastic place to stay. The host is wonderful and the location is incredible. We enjoyed the trails and keeping warm by the log cabin. Our dogs also had a blast. We would definitely come back.

The cabin was very cozy, easily accessible, and had a great outdoor area to hang out. The stars are so bright here that you could see the Milky Way! There is running water but it comes out slow and cold, so I wouldn’t recommend doing a ton of dishes there but it wasn’t a problem at all for us.

This little cabin was easy to find and felt incredibly peaceful. The flowers out there were beautiful! Make sure you bring your bug spray if you want to enjoy the picnic table but would recommend this place to anybody passing through.

The grainery loft is incredibly cozy and picturesque! Very comfortable bed and furniture. Kitchen things like good drinking water, microwave, fridge but must go outside for outhouse or to discard water. The petting farm itself is the most fascinating thing I’ve done in years!! The setup is amazing.

This is a quiet resort with a variety of cabin sizes. Our cozy cabin had all the amenities of home. Yes, each cabin includes the pontoon rental, so you could come and go as you please. The pontoons did not have a huge motor, but neither was the lake. Perfect for fishing and day cruising around the lake. Loved this option since we do not own a boat. We had a great time. Cabin 3 had a full-sized bedroom with an additional futon in the living space.

We decided to unconnect from the world and just get away from our daily hustle and bustle living in the city. This cabin is absolutely adorable, clean and has everything you need for a glamping experience. NO internet or WiFi and didn’t find any close by. We could connect to satellite and text but even that is spotty. Our host was super attentive, had all sorts of things in the cabin that made our stay even better that we would have never thought to pack. Kitchen set up was perfect, bed was comfy, and the outhouse was as modernized as they come. Definitely recommend.

It was a peaceful and beautiful cabin out in the middle of nowhere. The beds were comfortable enough. It was nice they did have fitted sheets on top of the beds. The wood for the campfire was awesome to have. They brought us extra water and tp when we needed it. A little tricky to find but she responded immediately when we messaged. The road to the cabin could use a little maintenance like some pebbles to fill in the pot holes- we didn’t get stuck but we’re concerned a few times. We enjoyed our stay.

Amanda has an amazing and private piece of property. It was plenty quiet and road noice was basically nonexistent. We originally planned to test out a new 6 person tent (location has plenty of large, flat areas prime for tent pads), but a long thunderstorm really made us appreciate the onsite primitive cabin. There were only 2 of us (plus a dog), but the cabin was roomy enough for more. The bunk beds definitely were a comfortable change from tent sleeping pads. The outhouse was nice, clean, and maintained and the large mowed area allowed for all kinds of running around with a dog-type activities. Will definitely visit again- highly recommend!

The property and cabin were lovely. There's no traffic sounds, plenty of wildlife, and a big open field out front. The cabin itself was perfect with comfy beds, stocked firewood, and plenty of space. Amanda was very responsive and brought us more toilet paper when we were running low. This was one of the best Hipcamp experiences I've had!

We loved spending time at this cute little cabin! The property was beautiful and very well kept and clean. The views were amazing and it was so peaceful. We had a pet emergency and had to leave a night early, Amanda was very accommodating, friendly, and helpful in our prompt departure. If we ever come back to this area, we'll definitely come back to the cabin! Thank you Amanda!

The hike to Blueberry lake was really beautiful. We rented a canoe, which was a great way to experience the lake. The canoe rental is right at the state park office, and they allow dogs in the canoes.
