Love loVE LOVED! This hands down one of the best hip camps I've been too. We did the roundhouse. Stunning views all around. Highly recommend making it to rainbow lake if you can. Moderate hike.

Moose Haven was the perfect remote getaway - my dog didn’t want to leave! It was nice being in close proximity to so many trails, but the cabin was also great for a cozy place to read, watch hummingbirds, and relax. I also appreciated the trails recommendations from Patrick and plan to come back to explore them!

Good place to overnight. I was confused a little when driving in but everything worked out. Road is nearby but not to noisy especially after 9 pm. We didn’t use the fire pit due to a fire ban but the pit looks good.

The area is beautiful and the cabin is very comfortable and well maintained. Deb had some really great stories and information on wildlife in the area when she greeted us. Overall the stay was amazing. Would highly recommend.

We had a great stay here. We appreciated all the kitchen supplies and other amenities. It was very peaceful and we saw moose and deer just off our porch. We recommend the rainbow lakes trail at the end of the street it was fantastic.

We had the most incredible stay at Boyer YL Ranch in Wyoming! We stayed in the historic barn loft and it was absolutely magical—full of charm, peacefulness, and the perfect mix of rustic and comfortable.
The host was so kind and welcoming, making us feel right at home. Our kids especially loved playing in the river just steps from the loft and discovering books in the little lending library. It felt like stepping into a slower, more beautiful way of life. We even saw a moose just steps from the barn!
We left feeling refreshed, connected, and already planning our next visit. Couldn’t recommend it more—we will definitely be going back!

Such a great getaway with AMAZING hosts and views! Mosquitoes were abundant over 4th of July weekend, but between citronella candles and DEET bug spray it was more of a nuisance than a deal killer. Highly recommended, and can’t wait to come back when the aspens change!!

Beautiful land! The accommodations, although rustic, were very nice. There was just myself and my husband and four small pups, but can accommodate many people. It was very secluded and remote which is what we wanted for the weekend. The shower was a very pleasant surprise! Was easy to communicate with Kelly and her husband came to show us around for check in. Would definitely come back!

this place was great! located in a quiet town not far from Steamboat Springs. we say plenty of wildlife in the surrounding areas.
The facilities were great too. just what we needed after a long trip. the hospitality of the host was unmatched and was on site if we needed anything.

An easy trip to town, in a nice quiet area with amazing open skies. Would definitely recommend to any van, truck, or rooftop tent campers.

Overview
About
Just outside of Steamboat Springs, this snug state park provides a quieter alternative to the better known Steamboat Lake State Park, a 10-minute drive down the road. Pearl Lake attracts anglers and water-sports enthusiasts with its wakeless lake in the summer, while the wintertime draws in folks looking for a laid-back spot to snowshoe, cross-country ski, snowmobile, and ice fish. There are 33 seasonal campsites and two year-round yurts at the park plus flush and vault toilets, and while you won’t find hookups or showers at the park, those camping at Pearl Lake are welcome to use the robust facilities at Steamboat Lake.
Notable campgrounds
- Best for glamping: Upper Loop has two yurts, one of which is ADA accessible
- Best for quick trips to the lake: Lower Loop offers a prime location, and all sites are within 10 to 50 yards of Pearl Lake.
Tips for snagging a campsite
- You can reserve a campsite or yurt through the Colorado Parks and Wildlife online reservation system or over the phone.
- Reservations can be made up from six months in advance up to your day of arrival.
- Yurts are available year-round, but campsites close in the winter due to snow.
- If you can’t find a site in the park, you may want to see what’s available at Steamboat Lake State Park, a 10-minute drive west of Pearl Lake. Privately owned Hipcamps in the area are also worth considering.
When to go
Pearl Lake State Park is open throughout the year, and is at its busiest in July and August, when the weather is ideal for watersports and camping. The best times to fish are in mid-to-late May and again in the autumn. Note that the campgrounds close during the snowy season (usually around the middle of October) and don’t usually reopen until the end of May.
Know before you go
- Hahns Peak Village, about a 10-minute drive from the park, is the closest place to get supplies and groceries or fill up on gas.
- Pets are allowed at campsites and elsewhere in the park, but must be kept leashed. Pets are allowed in yurt #16 for a small daily fee.
- Swimming is prohibited in Pearl Lake.
- You can leave your boat along the shore or in the boat ramp parking lot.
- Parking passes are required for all guests and are not included in the price of camping or yurt reservations.
- The park offers one accessible yurt (#6) and one accessible campsite (#35).
