We took advantage of late season warm weather and spent 2 nights at Rockridge. It did turn windy and cool but we enjoyed the solitude. Gorgeous view of Pikes Peak. I was able to walk my dog all over Carol’s horse pasture.
Note that the 3 campsites are fairly close together. Google maps took us right to Carols land - campsites are marked by short pink flags on the left side of her driveway once you have entered the property.

The a frame was the perfect place to reset after a long day driving across country! The view of the stars and twinkling lights below was perfection! Nice to unplugged and watch the moon roll across the sky. I’ll definitely stop again when I’m in the area! Very cute and cozy!

Our second annual father/son camping trip was a huge success. We had the whole property to ourselves. Each year our favorite part is exploring the boulders at the top of the property. The dozen or so turkeys that wandered through the property was the icing on the cake!

Great spot SE of Denver on a huge property where the sites are very private. Me and the 2 pooches met all the animals and had a wonderful time being out the city. We will be back for sure!

Beautiful views and very peaceful. We had a great time at Carol’s property. It was perfect for a short getaway from home. Very close to many attractions yet far enough away to feel secluded. We loved seeing the cows and the gorgeous view of Pikes Peak. Thank you Carol for sharing your property with us!

Weekend Trip to Sunrise Campsites
We had an amazing time staying at the cabin. The cabin was well stocked with propane and water, and the power station looked very nice too! The cabin itself is very cute, comfortable, has a fantastic view, and definitely feels private and secluded from the rest of the grounds. Stephanie was extremely responsive and eager to help, and was able to secure a sturdy ladder for us to get to the bed mere minutes after the request. The cabin definitely still has some construction items remaining, but is more than finished enough to have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Overall my girlfriend and I had a wonderful time and will most definitely be coming back next year!!

My family and I loved camping at Stephanie's Sunrise Campsite. We chose Site 1 from the reviews and it didn't disappoint. It was private and had spectacular views. The bathroom facility was clean and was thoughtfully stocked. We even had a surprise visitor in the morning, a majestic buck exploring. We would love to come back again in the spring.

This Magical Treehouse and land were everything my family needed and more!! We could not have asked for a more pleasant and peaceful retreat! Marni gave us a rundown of the facilities, and we couldn't have imagined a better stay. From the whimsical hand-crafted beauty of the actual treehouse around "Pal", to the amenities (including games/fun, cooking utilities/supplies, Wi-Fi/TV accommodations and plenty of warmth and cozy blankets and pillows, even full working bathroom facilities), down to the quiet starlit nights including a fire pit on the patio to keep warm while star-gazing! My son especially loved visiting and interacting with the extremely affectionate and friendly free roaming animals we got to interact with and became especially fond of, even giving our own little names to each, as they greeted us kindly several times each day. Only complaint was that we couldn't afford a longer stay!.. as each of us were sad to leave and say goodbye to the relaxing and intimate natured feel of the place, and our very welcoming and accommodating hosts. We felt secure even in the peaceful darkness around us knowing the host's dogs were looking out for us into the night. We will definitely be returning next season for a longer stay if welcomed, as Marni/Frank were on call for any questions or needs, we had throughout the stay, and were exceptionally kind to us as well. Thank you for such a pleasant experience to get us "away from it all" and the delight of bringing nature closer! XOX

Overview
About
Situated in Aurora, just outside of Denver, Cherry Creek Park is a popular spot for cycling, hiking, fishing, target practice, swimming, and water sports—plus there's a marina with boat and jet ski rentals. The most unusual park feature is its model airplane flying field, Suhaka Field, with two paved runways. While the park’s urban location means it gets a lot of day-trippers, it’s also a fun place to spend the night. The Cherry Creek Campground has a mix of tent and RV camping plus hot showers, laundry facilities, and an amphitheater.
Tips for snagging a campsite
- You can reserve one of the 135 campsites through the Colorado Parks and Wildlife online reservation system or over the phone.
- Reservations can be made up to six months advance. Same-day reservations are also available on the phone or online, but not in person.
- Summer weekends fill fast, so book early or keep checking online for cancellations.
- Only the Abilene Loop remains open from November through March.
- If you’re struggling to secure a reservation, there are plenty of alternative options in the area, including lodges and Hipcamps.
When to go
The park is at its busiest in June-August, and can get very crowded, particularly on weekends. May and September are good alternatives, with warm temperatures but fewer people, especially during the weekdays, when local children are in school. November through March is the off season and while one loop of the campground is open, many of the services and facilities are closed. Snow is not uncommon in winter months, so be prepared.
Know before you go
- The park is located in a suburb of Denver, and there are plenty of spots to pick up food and supplies within a few minutes’ drive. Firewood is available for sale onsite.
- Cherry Creek State Park often reaches capacity on weekends and vehicles without camping reservations will not be allowed to enter if the park is full.
- Campers must have both a camping reservation and a separate Colorado State Parks Annual Pass or a Daily Pass (for parking). Park passes are available online and onsite.
- Dogs are welcome, though they must remain on a leash, except for in the designated off-leash area.

The park is beautiful, spacious & the workers check sites promptly after each camper leaves to make sure site is cleaned. The grass was at least a foot high & no one was cutting it. For such a beautiful place they need to keep up on the grounds work

Stayed in a tent here until they closed tent camping for the winter. A nice place with paid showers and laundry. Plenty of bicycle trails at the park. The only complaint is all the city noise but it was near where I needed to be every day.
