Learn more about this land: We’ve got more Spanish Moss than you can shake a stick at - and we’ve got plenty of those too! While we lack ocean-side beach front, we do have spectacular views of the Wadmalaw river, particularly under a full moon and especially at sunset (we face west by southwest). We're offering approximately 60 acres of primitive hiking and campsites: areas for all levels of camping experience available. You can have a camping experience from literal back yard camping, to a serious “lost in the woods” adventure. Despite the near-by civilization, on clear nights there is very little light contamination - which makes for excellent star gazing. Campfires are allowed within local regulations. Pets are welcome! We are less than twenty miles from historic downtown Charleston, around twenty miles from Charleston’s shopping and commerce area (West Ashley), and just over twenty miles from Kiawah Island Resort and beaches. This spot was incredible. Ted met us when we arrived (even though we arrived a bit late due to weather) and promptly showed us to the spot. His land is beautiful and I am eager to go back when we return to Charleston. Our pups also enjoyed roaming the land and had so many new things to sniff.

Ted's place was a great spot tucked away from the rest of the world. Quiet with a great view! We just did an overnight stay, but would definitely come back. The birdsong in the morning was a nice treat.

Peaceful Camping!

We absolutely loved tent camping on Ted’s property! It is very peaceful, yet within driving distance to stores, restaurants, etc. Ted was very kind and helpful, and he is accommodating to whatever type of camping you’d like (drive up, deep forest, etc). If we are ever in the south again, we will most definitely be staying here.

If you are looking for an authentic, low country tent camping experience, then this is it. Ted was a great host and was just a phone call away for anything I needed. I was looking for remote and that is what I got. Ted let me down a trail through his property on his tractor to a site surrounded by palmettos and Spanish moss with the river on one side And 60 acres on the other.

We came down to SC to surf at folly beach. We stay in a sprinter van. Ted is a great host and has a magical piece of land. It had a lot of flat areas with lots of trees and spanish moss and a view of the wadmalaw river. The sunsets are really great. Our dogs can be barky and Ted gave us a nice secluded area. Definitely will.be returning.

Excellent long weekend in a very private campsite. I asked Ted for primitive and he provided! Not a soul in sight the entire trip. Camped along the marsh, with beautiful river views a short walk away. Lots of wide paths to walk and a lot of trees suitable for the hammock. My dog loved roaming the campsite and playing at the edge of the marsh. My only suggestion to others is to bring good bug spray. You are on the marsh in the low country. There will always be mosquitos, but nothing my organic spray and a Thermacel couldn't handle. Go see Ted! Excellent communication and he leads you right to your site. You'll love his place!

Ted's land is so special. I am a solo female living in her van, and was looking for a place to really recharge in nature. Ted led me to a beautiful area in the woods that ended up being my home for 3 days. My dog and I even hiked and camped out in our tent near the marsh, it was AMAZING. Ted is a fantastic host, and I felt extremely comfortable on his property. 10/10 would recommend and I hope to return one day!

Scenic Marsh Camping!

We can't wait to come back - Ted was so kind and understanding and accommodating! We had to check-in really late and leave early but he was really cool about it and still met up with us to direct us to our campsite. The area was peaceful and beautiful - and we brought our toilet paper and bottles of water, so the land not having a restroom or potable water was completely fine.

Ted & his land are special. It was a beautiful place to have a magical night camping under the stars among tall trees with spanish moss with the various sounds of the birds and frogs of the marsh. It felt like we were in an untouched, protected and very much cared for area. Ted was kind and communicative. I hope to be back!

Beautiful view and open space. Great for going with dogs bc they have lots of space for dogs to run around and play. Also fun if you just wanna hang out if you have kids bring some games. Beautiful oak trees and just a great place to chill. You probably will see hermit crabs.

Great Location and Sunset!

Ted’s land provided a fantastic primitive campsite environment with a beautiful sunset over the salt marsh. Ted was also super helpful in guiding us to the location. Ted even kindly offered some of his own firewood, but we had brought our own. I would go there again for sure. Thanks Ted! For planning purposes, if you are planning to grill, there are no established fire pits or grills, so it may be helpful to have a shovel if you plan to dig a small hole for a fire pit. Also, it may be helpful to bring your own collapsible table as there is only a small table at the site, and the top is broken so no longer supports many supplies.

The Camping in Ted’s land is perfect! There is the kind of camping for all levels of adventure. We stayed on a big open field filled with beautiful trees and a marsh right in front of us with an amazing sunset view. Ted was so so helpful and accommodating. We arrived when it was dark and he went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. It was my first time camping. We will be back again.

We arrived pretty late from traveling mishaps and Ted was extremely kind, understanding, & responds quickly! He met us at this spot just to get us through the night and offered more sites with better views + short hikes. There is a street light at this particular site but it wasn’t a bother in the slightest. We fell in love and decided to stay put. Definitely bring bug spray if it’s warm, you’re in a salt marsh in the south!! They could’ve been much worse for sure though. Small sand crabs are all over the place (especially morning and evening), If you’re quiet you may see a ton of deer. There’s a pond to fish in. Our favorite parts were the (what felt like endless) old oak trees with Spanish moss, and the views of sunset & the moon are breathtaking! I can only imagine the views from the other sites! We couldn’t get enough and cannot wait to come back.

This has been my favorite Hipcamp location so far. Ted was an awesome host who greater us and gave us several options to set up camp at. We ended up at a site overlooking a marsh which had an amazing sunset! We were able to drive our Subaru within a 10 minute hike to the site and it was very peaceful and private. The property had several trails to explore during the day and plenty of trees for relaxing in a hammock.
