Big Laurel Ranch

9 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents350 acres · Blaine, KY
Big Laurel is a working cattle farm on land that has been in our family for 4 generations. The farm consists of 370 acres of bottomland pasture along the creek and quiet woodlands where you can explore jagged rock cliffs and beautiful vistas. The woodlands are undergoing transformation as we continue an ongoing forest rehabilitation project to return our land to its natural state as a deciduous hardwood forest. Spotted on the farm is an amazing abundance of wildlife including wild turkeys, white tailed deer, pileated woodpeckers, bobcats, coyotes, foxes, bear, and red tailed hawks.

5 Leaf Farm

5 sites · Lodging100 acres · Walton, WV
This area was known by the Native Americans as "Pocatalico" (land of the fat doe), and first settled by Europeans around 1890. The property itself was first settled by a man named Mayford Jones, who set the first stones here around 1910. A Jenny Lynn style farmhouse was built and the property was known as one of the best developed farms in the area. Today, the forest has returned to what was once pasture land on the majority of the 100 acre plot, and a small but intensive sustainable forest farm has been taking shape since 2013 under the current host and occupant, who prefers the term "steward" rather than "owner".

Just ten miles off the interstate, locals flock to the beach here and out-of-towners take their pick of over 200 campsites in four campgrounds. The Beech Fork Lake Marina in the center of the park is privately owned, and rents out paddle boats if you wanna go Flinstone’s style (they also have canoes and pontoons). Sporty folks will love the wide variety of athletic fields here (volleyball, tennis, basketball, and softball), while the animal lovers can check out frogs, toads, raptors, deer, fox, and songbirds at the Beech Fork Lake Wildlife Management Area. In the surrounding towns, you’ll find plenty of mini golf parks, a public gun range, the Milton Flea Market, and Heritage Farms, an Appalachian village replica with museum, school, and old-fashioned merchants.
