On the morning of Sat.Nov 22, 2025, the Farm will host a 5K Perimeter trail run/walk, with Campsite 1 as the finish line. Therefore, it is closed for camping on the 21. Sites 2 and 3* will remain open, but please note there will be extra people in the waterfront area on the morning of Nov 22 until 11am.
Note about price increase: Hipcamp has recently increased their commission rate, and this has been reflected in our new price increase of $2 per night. We are very sorry to have to raise our rate. The Spruill Farm belonged to the Spruill Family for over a hundred years and has been set up as conservation easement protected land in '23. It includes hardwood forest, swamp, a beautiful swimming beach* on the Albemarle Sound - one of the largest freshwater sounds in the world-, acres of farmland, vegetable garden and perhaps the largest fig orchard for hundreds of miles around. The purpose of the Spruill Farm is to further environmental research, promote ecological education and sustainable practices, and provide access for the public to the ever-diminishing shoreline experience. Please enjoy the incredible sunsets and woodland views, while respecting the serenity of this unique gem on the inner-banks.
Wildlife on the property include Red Fox, River Otter, and 95 species of birds, including Bald Eagles (2 nests on the farm), nesting Osprey, Wood Ducks. Visit the 'Spruill Farm Conservation Project' on inaturalist(dot)org to see all 95 species, and upload any images from your observations.
Because it is a nature preserve, please read the guidelines and rules closely if you choose to book with us.
*Note: the shoreline changes with the wave action and the seasons. This makes the Bobby Wilkins shoreline trail so beautiful- always changing.

-No refunds will be given for inclement weather.
-You will be surrounded by 9000 acres of the Palmetto Pear Tree Nature Preserve so there are plenty of wild animals. Including but not limited to deer, turkey, raccoons, possums, squirrels, coyote, endangered Red Wolfs, Bear, snakes, eagles, otters, birds galore and so much more. You truly never know what wildlife you may encounter.
-Pets are allowed, you will be in the wilderness so keep an eye on them.
-There are a total of 3 campsites on the property. If there happen to be other campers on the property please leave space for them to hook up and be respectful of their space and privacy. If you’d like to book another site for friends and/or family together please see my other listings.

The cabin is a new build and it offers a full sized bed with a comfy mattress, a coffee bar that includes: water kettle, french press, coffee, & tea, an electric heater that helps to take the edge off in the colder nights and a big fan for the warmer months.
Even thou the cabin allows only 2 people to sleep in it, we have a designated tent area that allows more guests to bring their tent and enjoy the camp site. There is a four person tent under the bed for use if needed. Please clean and stow tent back the way you found it when done.
Electricity is available, just be mindful of high voltage items while heater is running. NO bed linens and pillows provided. The wing-wall has an easy mechanism of opening and closing; use the cleat on the pole to tie it up. Be mindful of its weight and assist it with your hand as you pull it up.

-There is no bathroom or shower house on the property.
-Check in and out time is 12 noon.
-This listing is for 1 campsite only, so you must bring your own tent, or camper.
-You will have access to full hook up water, sewer and electric.
-Cell phone service is very limited, so if you’re looking to unplug but be able to text somewhat this is the place for you!
-No refunds will be given for inclement weather.
-You will be surrounded by 9000 acres of the Palmetto Pear Tree Nature Preserve so there are plenty of wild animals. Including but not limited to deer, turkey, raccoons, possums, squirrels, coyote, endangered Red Wolfs, Bear, snakes, eagles, otters, birds galore and so much more. You truly never know what wildlife you may encounter.
-Pets are allowed, you will be in the wilderness so keep an eye on them.
-There are a total of 3 campsites on the property. If there happen to be other campers on the property please leave space for them to hook up and be respectful of their space and privacy. If you’d like to book another site for friends and/or family together please see my other listings.
-World class fishing, hunting of all kinds, bird/wildlife watching, hiking, kayaking, boating, water sports, beach sitting, restaurants, grocery store, the beach and so much more is located nearby.

Stay on a working farm/ vineyard. Originally a tobacco farm that was converted into a muscadine vineyard. Currently it's more of a farm than a vineyard. The vines are still there, but it was empty for a couple years. Such a magical spot with so much history. Plenty of space to wonder.

I loved tent camping on Julia's land! Site #1 was perfect, the area was well setup with benches around a big fire pit with large removable grid top for cooking over the fire. Falling asleep to the sounds of the water, crickets and frogs was so peaceful. I will definitely be booking at Spruill Conservation Farm again!!

Claudine and her husband were very accommodating. The camp site was perfect for me and my pup. I was there during a big snow storm so I couldn’t enjoy the proximity of the beach so much but i bet it’s really cool in the summer. I would definitely stay here again next time im going to OBX.

We had a wonderful time car camping here! The site was beautiful! The incredibly clean porta potty and well water was a plus! We really enjoyed walking the trails and 2 mile loop around the farm where we got to meet the welcoming hosts. The night time sky was amazing! All 3 sites were lovely!

We enjoyed our spot, which provided a nice water view! The park is quiet with very flat spots. The bathhouse is clean and had nice, hot showers! Overall, the location is nice as well. It’s only a short drive to area restaurants and shopping, while still providing a peaceful escape.

Rizwan's place is quite beautiful, down to earth, and has room to explore! The type of feels I enjoy! I could truly see all the hard work, love, and attention that has been put into the accommodations.
Any questions were answered pleasantly and promptly. I slept well and had fun hanging around the property and look forward to coming back again and seeing what's new! I really enjoyed the details like the communal kitchen, docks with fishing poles/tackle, PFDs (lifejackets), and especially the various watercraft you could use.
We may not be the best fisherfolk, but my dog and I had a great time attempting to fish on the paddleboat, while watching the pelicans, osprey, and eagles dive into the water around us. (2 thumbs and paws up)

Another wonderful trip in the books at Spruill. We brought a hot tent this stay and Site 1 was just perfect for our Christmas camping trip! It was such a peaceful break from the usual holiday hustle and bustle. With the cooler temperatures, it was a wonderful convenience to have the port-a-potty and firewood close by. The sunsets, of course, did not disappoint and it was such a treat to experience the differences in nature here during the off season. Can't wait for our next stay!

Gator Creek was a perfect place to get away from everything for a night. Joyce's land is well-cleared and accommodating for whatever flavor of camping you're there for. It was the ideal distance to be close enough to civilization, yet quiet and private enough to feel at home in the woods for a night. Joyce was very responsive and kind, answering all questions we had promptly. We would be happy to stay there again!

Joyce was very kind and allowed me to set up near the fire pit and outside toilet. The near by water area was pretty, especially at sunset. This is a great place for anyone who wants to be in solitude and stick to the campsite. Except for the local hunters who briefly set off some rounds in the day time, it was incredibly quiet. The site is in a very small rural community with only a single convenient store, but there are no shops or local entertainment. Would recommend for anyone into having a complete wilderness experience.

Hands down one of the best hidden gems on the way to OBX. Their dog Fischer greeted us immediately, such a friendly pup, and friendly host/family. The lot is spacious, and the ponds are magical.
