If you are looking for quietude, this is your spot! Twenty acres situated minutes from lakes, rivers and US Forest Service land. SPECIAL NOTE FOR 2026: This Summer we are adding onto our host cabin. There may be construction noise (think compressed air nail gun, occasional equipment noise) during your stay, especially at the tent and RV campsites. 8AM-6PM, except Sunday. It will be less audible at The River Cabin. Our physical location is approximately 30 miles North of Bonners Ferry and 1 mile South of Eastport, ID. We are a mile South of the Canadian Border just off US 95. Our tent campsite and RV campsite have separate booking sites but share the same shelter and toilet. If you book either site the "other" booking site is blocked during your stay. Our Forest is surrounded by Kaniksu National Forest which is managed by the United States Forest Service (USFS) as part of the Idaho Panhandle. National Forest.. The Moyie River ( say Moy-yay) has headwaters at Moyie Lake in British Columbia and feeds into the Kootenai River (say Koo-ten-e) just East of Bonners Ferry. The Moyie River is 92 miles long. The area is private, so there is no view of the neighbors. You’ll have a broken view of the Host’s Cabin. Camp is situated on 15.4 acres of Certified Family Forest. If you hear the rumble of a train at night, it's because the Union Pacific passes along the opposite edge of the property from the campsites. There is no mobile phone service at the campsite . There is WiFi at the campsite shelter. We strongly suggest you activate the “Cell over WiFi “ function on your smartphone BEFORE you arrive/lose cell signal so you can access Emergency 911 Services. There is a fire pit (firewood provided), covered shelter, a USFS-style charcoal grill, (bring charcoal and starter), picnic table, benches, bear-proof food storage box and TEMPORARY trash bin. Please plan to "pack-out" all of your trash and recyclables. There are a lot of deer roaming the property, along with many birds and other wildlife . OUR NIGHTLY CHARGE Includes all the firewood you need and a 15% Hipcamp Host Service Fee. It does not include 6% Idaho Sales Tax and 2% Idaho Convention and Travel Tax. We are located down a dead-end road, approximately 18 miles from downtown Sandpoint, with all it has to offer, yummy restaurants, Cedar Street Public Market, music concerts, the Bonner County Fair and don't miss City Beach no matter the weather, maybe even take a lake tour. We are 12 miles from The Idaho Club and just 22 miles from Schweitzer and some of the most breathtaking views around. There is always something to do and see on the mountain. Trestle Creek Park on the shore of Lake Pend Oreille, is another of our favorite places and it's only a 16-mile drive through some of the most picturesque areas of the NW. After a fun filled day exploring North Idaho come and relax at The Lost Fainting Goat Ranch, an amusing name for a place we call home. There is a separate private driveway, and you will have the whole camp area to yourselves, yet we aren't far away should a need arise. You may occasionally hear us (4 busy kids, 1 fat cat, 2 friendly dogs, 1 noisy rooster and 11 happy hens yet still no fainting goats) but we want you to feel like you are in your own private sanctuary. We are offering a new furnished bell tent in a secluded area of our private property in the beautiful mountains of Sandpoint Idaho. Our camp area is along a quiet creek that is visited by deer, wild turkey, squirls and even the occasional moose. There are also those less desirable critters that live in nature like insects, and we do try and mitigate those troublemakers with screens, traps, Diatomaceous Earth and other natural means. This area of our property is off grid with a wonderful shower house built from wood milled from our own land, complete with hot water and a compost toilet. We even provide Starlink WiFi and a way to charge cell phones thanks to our solar charged batteries. There is a fire pit, comfy chairs, a beautiful picnic table, again, made from wood from our own land, and a screened in area with cooking supplies. Our family enjoys hosting guests and we enjoy meeting new people. The most common phrase we heard when we first moved here was "Welcome to Idaho!" We hope you love it here as much as we do. When you reserve your time with us, please look for messages regarding directions and check-in instructions, we like to meet everyone to show you around and it gets pretty dark out here in the country and the cell coverage is pretty spotty in our area. We have created this place and lived here for over 20 years. Our two boys who are 17 and 20 love to play and create their own piece of heaven. We desire to share it with others and allow them to see the magic of yurt living. We also live in a 30-ft yurt on the property that is our special place. Learn more about this land: This 14-foot yurt is a short walk of about 50 yards from the guest parking. You will pass our 30-ft family yurt going to your own private space. The property has a great remote feeling and has space to move around. There is a queen custom bed and room for a child or two on the floor if desired. There is a small gravity feed water system for the yurt and your own private outhouse. Plenty of wood for you to stay warm by the fire inside and an outdoor shower shared by our family. The kitchen comes with pots and pans, plates, etc. and a few extras. You will hear the sounds of nature and North Idaho at times out in your yurt as trains pass through the valley to Canada. We are 1.5 miles away from the tracks. If you are into being independent and open to new experiences then we would love to share our space with you. Please pull in the drive and pull up past the big garage and park to the left by the Yurt Parking Sign. Then walk towards the trail sign and follow the path. Recommended for you to bring a headlamp and outdoor slippers to walk to the outhouse or shower during your stay. We have towels at the yurt for your use. We can provide a Therm-a-rest bed for your child if needed. Please bring your own wood for outside fires at the fire pit. Currently there is fire restriction in effect.

This is a space for you to soak in nature and connect over the campfire, or across the board game by the light of candles. When the sky is clear you’ll be able to stargaze from bed and when you wake you’ll be greeted by ducks on the pond and a ceramic mug waiting for it’s French pressed coffee. Slip on your boots and your coziest sweater for a walk down the driveway. Reconnect to the simplicity that is possible in this life. Our winter visit to the Far North was excellent. The cabin was a perfect place to spend time together. We loved the selection of books available to visitors during our stay. It was great to have kitchen equipment and to use it easily. The fireplace kept us nice and cozy on snowy, cold days outside. The Views are stunning, with no one around but our family. It was ‘dry’ camping because of the late season, but that did not stop us from having quality time together. I love that Paul provides firewood. He was great at communication and make us so welcome at his property.

Weekend Trip to Hymas Family Farm Stay

We loved our stay at the farm! The tent was private in the woods and we came up to the farm’s shop for fresh ice cream and fresh eggs and also paid extra to help milk a cow haha our daughter loved the cows! The zipper didn’t work on the tent but otherwise everything was so lovely. We used the cook stove and they had some cook supplies in there too which was super nice. Would definitely recommend , I always wanted to try out glamping and the whole family had a lot of fun with it.

Shayne and Ryder are great people! Very friendly and they made sure that we had everything we needed when we checked in. Shayne even took our son to feed the horses and play with the goats while we unloaded our stuff. The Airstream was comfy and clean and Ryder made sure we knew how to work everything. It's very close to a couple different parks on the lake for swimming, fishing, etc. We'd definitely stay with them again!

We absolutely loved this place. It was much nicer than we expected. The scenery was amazing. The set up and the new showers were really nice. We visited it while there was no one else there and all of the campground is separated from the cabin side. you feel really secluded there highly recommend this place and we will definitely go back again. The little store in good grief was nice and the people there were really nice. Some nice hikes are very close by all the communication was great with Paul. Chris and Michal were such great hosts! We had a wonderful, peaceful time. They have everything from cooking supplies to a warm outdoor shower. The surrounding area is beautiful as well with many swimming places and yummy food. I would absolutely recommend this place and can’t wait to come back!

Weekend Trip to Lost Fainting Goat Ranch

It as such a beautiful place to get away to for the weekend. Close yet not too close to the city and the surrounding ranches were gorgeous. Highly recommend coming to this place if you want to get away and being in the quiet countryside and woods area.

Weekend Trip to Stillwater Getaway

Ryan is an excellent host and very welcoming. He shared some of the history of the camp which we found interesting. We really liked the "Always Open" club house/kitchen with many games and books.

North Shore Campground

We truly enjoyed ourselves at The North Shore Campground. Stayed two nights. The amenties were on point and made it so easy to last minute plan a mini trip. We only needed food and clothes. We spent most of our days down at the river. The kids loved playing all day in the water. Floaties included. Great vibes! We will be back!!

North Dickey Lake Campground

Absolutely gorgeous lake! So stunning and great for kayakers and canoers. It’s right off the highway so you do get some car noise but not so much during the night. It’s $10 to camp/night. Overall very clean and organized campgrounds.

Big Therriault Lake Campground

Bring your friends or a hiking buddy. There are 9 other lakes in this area and you’re going to want to see all of them, they all require some hiking and bear spray! But so worth the views! It’s $5 to camp/night.

Gem Peak Lookout Cabin

This is by far one of the coolest places I have stayed! Secluded on the top of Gem Peak, nothing beats the 360 degree view! Be prepared to climb many steps often, as the outhouse is located on the ground a ways away from the tower. Also, for the same purpose, don't forget headlamps and lanterns! The view of the night sky is unreal from the tower. I didn't want to leave! There are two separate single beds, table and chairs, and a counter space. Don't forget to sign the guestbook and to use the cleaning supplies to pick up after yourself for the next lucky person!
