Come and spend some time at a direct-to-consumer dairy farm. Our cows are called Dutch Belted. They are often referred to as Oreo cows. Stay on the farm where the milk is produced, processed, and sold. The farm store is a short distance away and sells a large variety of farm foods.
The farm consists of about 200 acres of pasture and creek bottom. The owner, Loyd, has lived on the farm all his life.
We are right beside what used to be a Navy base... yeah in Kansas.:) The runway still gets used for gliders. So you might see a glider being pulled up while you are here.

I am proud to be a fourth-generation caretaker of this farm and surrounding acreage. My great-grandfather purchased this land in 1921 and since then, my family has been farming the best way that we knew how. For the last 30 years, that has meant a divergence from traditional farming practices to focus on regenerative farming-- farming that focuses on enriching the health of the soil and the animals instead of depleting it.On our farm, we raise beef, lamb, pigs and chickens and they all live out on pasture. In our farm store we sell meat, eggs, and raw, all-grass dairy products like milk, butter, cheese, kefir, and yogurt. Our customers drive from all parts of central Kansas to shop at Jako Farm because our food is different than food in the grocery store. We call it JakoPure food.Not only do we share our life-giving, gut-restoring food with others, but we want to share the experience of our farm, too. That's why we've started hosting guests on hipcamp so that you can truly experience what's special about our farm. Each location provides a unique perspective on our farm, and you'll engage a different part of our story at each place. But wherever you stake your temporary claim at Jako Farm, we hope you experience the peace and rest that we know and love.Learn more about this land:Jako Farm is a working regenerative farm, and this campsite provides an easy view of all that goes on here. The cows and sheep will graze near by while the chickens scratch in the distance. You'll see the farmers moving the animals to new pasture and the llama playing games with the sheep. If you're up at sunrise, you'll see Ken bringing the cows up to the barn for milking (April through November). Its pretty quiet here, except for the subtle noises of wildlife. (Fair warning: if you're in a tent, you will probably hear the milking machine kick on at 6:30am.) We're also proud to be a smell-free farm because all animals live out on pasture. There are killer sunrises and sunsets here. If you're lucky, you'll also see our resident bald eagle pair soaring through the sky.A bathroom with shower is available for your use in the barn nearby.Please be respectful of farm operations, although we're always open to answering questions if you see us around. Farm Tours are not included with a booking.

Derby Walmart Supercenter is 20 minutes away, and Wichita proper is just a 25-30 minute drive.29 Mile away you have El Dorado State Park which is a showstopper of family fun! Located in the Flint Hills, this park has an immense wildlife area, over 8,000 acres of water, and 98 miles of shoreline (think beaches and coolers filled with cold beer). While you are here, you can take your boat on this expansive lake to explore it all while you fish for your dinner. Back on the land you’ll be beckoned by picturesque hiking trails, biking trails, and horse trails. There is a wide variety of campsites on the shoreline, offering the perfect vista to see the moon and stars reflected back into the lake. Kansas magic at its best!Meet our friendly indoor/outdoor cats, and maybe even spot a deer in the surrounding fields as you relax around the fire pit. Visitors in June can even harvest fresh mulberries from several trees surrounding the camping area. We commonly see deer, squirrels, rabbits, and a large variety of birds. We've occasionally spotted bald eagles in our surrounding trees.No pets allowed.

Learn more about this land:Come stay for a night at Turner's Quarter in our quiet country neighborhood. Enjoy access to a large fire pit, free firewood, and a large area for your camping activities. Take in a view of the bright night sky you just cant get in the city. Only 1 minute off the highway and only a quick walk to the main house in case of an urgent need. Perfect spot to stay a night if you're traveling across the state and don't want to stay at a busy campground. There are other houses nearby, but only home you can really see is ours from the site. We are careful to ensure our camper's privacy during their stay!

We were able to purchase firewood from her, which was convenient. Our son befriended one of the cats, which made the stay all the more fun.!

The view of the stars was amazing. It was fun having all the farm animals around. It was quiet all night, and we knew with a flock of guinea hens roosting behind us, that no one was going to sneak up on us while we were sleeping. Lol. Erma was in touch by message if we needed anything.

Cheryl gave us the option to switch to site 2 because our hook-ups are on the Driver's side. We had trouble getting level in site 1 due to the recent rains that made the ground very soft, so in the end we stayed in Site 2. Site 1 has a beautiful pasture view and nearby playground, and Site 2 has a fun view of the beautiful horses. You can't go wrong with either site. There are also dogs, roosters, turkeys, and goats nearby. The cacophony of farm sounds didn't bother us, but warrant mentioning in case potential guests reading this review are sensitive to noise. There is also an Air Force base nearby, but I barely noticed it. The resident dogs are free-roaming, but they are friendly. My dog isn't generally a fan of other dogs, and the resident doggies were not a problem for us. Site 2 has full hook-ups, and we didn't need any leveling blocks at all. We enjoyed our stay very much and appreciated the flexibility to switch sites at the last minute. Even with the significant rain, the ground drained well around the site and the driveways. We had no trouble walking our dog or pulling the trailer in and out. We love the Hipcamp experience a thousand times more than RV parks. We are so grateful that owners like Cheryl host RVers.

We stayed at the farm for 8 nights and it was Amazing. Erma has thought of everything from the beautiful setting of the campsite to the hookups! No stinky water here. Erma is so very nice and we felt like we were at home. Hanging out with all the animals was such a treat! We were in town visiting family and my niece’s loved hanging out at the farm feeding all the animals and cooking on the campfire. I fell in love with Kona Ermas dog and was soon out buying her some cookies and toys. We will definitely be back again and this will be my first choice! Thank you Erma for making our vacation so wonderful!

We absolutely loved this spot! Full hookups, tons of privacy, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, and great access for our big rig (45' toy hauler). We enjoyed watching the cows come in and out of the field for milking each day, as well as the funny guinea hens pecking about. The farm store is AMAZING - delicious milk, butter, yogurt, ice cream, eggs, breads, canned goods...I could go on. DEFINITELY make sure you stop into the store!
We spent a week here at the farm and each night we walked down Halstead Rd for a bit to stretch our legs and most evenings we saw an Amish horse and buggy go by which was a fun treat. We enjoyed exploring Yoder and Hutchinson - what a great area overall.
We've stayed at several HipCamps in the last year and this one was our favorite so far. We will be back!!!

Quick and friendly check in, super clean restrooms and shower facilities. Very well maintained RV park with many long-term rv’s in place. Neighbor campers were clean, quiet, respectful. Lots of grassy areas to walk the dogs and a dog park. Small playground for kiddos. Overall, very nice park and easy on/off the turnpike (10 miles)
