Amazing spot! We stayed for a week so we could explore the NP and Port Angeles. The location is perfect! We also loved all that the hosts have put into this property. The spots have their own privacy, and each night we were lulled to sleep to the sounds of frogs and owls. Spot 1 & 2 are great for vans or campers. The other sites are more geared towards tent campers.

The title says it all. This is a beautiful property, the camp spots were well thought out. If you are a tent camper, there may be a few that are a little less private than others so do your research. We were serenaded by frogs each night, the bats came out to play, and there was even an otter in the pond! Who knew otters hung out in ponds. I didn’t.
And as if that was not enough, I had to stay an extra night because of a small issue I was having with my vehicle and John stopped by and fixed that issue for me! Beautiful surroundings, accommodating hosts AND mechanical health when you need it-who could ask for more. Besides the fact that it is convenient to beautiful Port Angeles and great trails. Definitely one of my favorite hip camps today.. thanks John and Casie!

It was a great experience for what the site at the offer. Only Porto-potties but they were very clean and stocked. Had the whole property to ourselves with great communication from the owners.

We had a great time camping on site 4. It was a very large site, comfortably holds 3 tents and 2 canopies. Not easily accessible for those with mobility issues but we loved our privacy. Lots of mosquitoes during our time camping (late August) so bring bug repellent.

I absolutely loved the tucked away and quietness of this retreat! Free of noise and light pollution giving you the most serene experience! I tent camped with my two pups and was highly satisfied with my choice at this property. Easy directions and well marked signs going into the property as well as at each campsite. The solar light made it easy to find my spot with no problem as I arrived later into the evening. The port a potty was exceptionally clean and close. The host is readily available if needed and quick to ensure you have the best experience possible! Just a couple of miles down the road is a general store for all your snack and beverage needs. 20 minutes away is the bigger city for additional needs. The entrance to Olympic National Park was a short drive away as well. There’s a great breakfast and lunch spot called The BlackBerry Cafe in a town named Joyce which is about 10 miles away. I ended up wanting an extra day and the host was happy to accommodate me by giving me SPOT 3 right in front of the pond for my few days there. I only have two downsides to SPOT 3. Although the port a potty is close, I found the slamming of the door all times of the night to be frustrating. Additionally, next to SPOT 3 is parking for the adjacent campsites making it noisy for those arriving late and getting into their cars. It’s not as private as the other sites but has plenty of room to car or tent camp. Bring your bug spray! I most definitely will stay here again!

Spot 4 was a spacious clearing with shade from a massive tree. It was private, on a level about 8' above parking places, but requires walking up a 20' slope that could be a challenge for campers with lots of heavy gear or mobility issues. The Rustic Retreat is a 3-4 minute down a well-maintained dirt road from a highway, so it was very quiet, only very occasional road faint noise.

Great for an overnighter, especially those traveling in a 2-3 person size tent. My large 6 person tent was snug. Large pond right next to sites, croaky frogs serenade campers in the early evening.
Portable toilet was very clean and easy access to all sites.

Hi, Overall we had a nice night at your Rustic Retreat and really appreciated the nicely marked sites, prompt communication and nature all around. That being said, the site just felt a bit too closed-in and road-side for our preference. Would be interesting to see if you could get some spots for vans on the upper meadow where you had tent spots.

I loved the spot great for a big family easily could put up three tents and a canopy. Spots 1,2, and 3 where not so big/or private as 4,5, and 6 with 4 being the very best/private site. Plus the portable toilet was clean.

This was well maintained with good directions. What want clear from the description was how close together the van spots were. There was little to do directly from the campground. I would recommend it to people who needed a place to stay for the night, but not for a great getaway.

We stayed at the Rustic Retreat one night before leaving on a backpacking trip in the Olympics.. The retreat is delightfully quiet, well away from busy roads. We used sites 4, 5, & 6, all walk-in sites for tent campers. The sites are located just up a short bank above the road where we parked. A nearby porta-potty is available, and is in great shape, including having hand sanitizer. There are no other site improvements - bring your own water supply.
This spot is only a 10 minute drive from the Salt Creek recreation area on the saltwater shoreline. It's a delightful place to visit - don't miss it.

Conveniently located, nice, safe spot on beautiful land for a last-minute stay while we were exploring the area. Good signage, very clean potty, pretty views and fell asleep to sound of frogs singing by the pond. A bit buggy in July, as to be expected. Had enough ATT service to be functional for searches, etc. Great value for the price and beautiful land!

The sites are pretty close together and the grass is in rough shape. It is off the hwy so no car noise but bring earplugs for the frogs!

Great place to spend the night before heading up to hurricane ridge! Very clean toilet and a couple little ponds with grassy areas to park and set up tents.

The Rustic Retreat is 100% what you'll get. If you want to be in nature, birds singing in the morning, frogs at night and a few deer and other animals around this is your place. If you're looking for some well manicured spot this is not it. Grass spot that is not 100 level and a pot a potty. I think they could change and few things and think they will as they move forward. We were the first campers I think. This place has the feeling of camping out back of a local country side that you found, and not a crowded campground. Are campsite was a mowed grass area in a cove of trees and tall field grass. It is rustic, but we do like it and don't need the frills of modern camping. We wanted to get away from it all and this let us.
Soon as I booked I got great communication from directions, local burn ban going into affect and phone number case we needed to reach them. While we never meet there was no need since everything was clear before we left. I think if we did need anything we would have received a reply within hours and they even sent us a message as we camped letting us know as much.

This campground was peaceful and lovely - exactly what I was looking for to escape the fireworks. I could hear a few in the distance, but not enough to scare the dogs or interrupt a good book 😌
The land is beautiful, and this time of year there were shasta daisies blooming and a lot of happy birds singing.
The road coming in is dirt, but I have a tall van with 2 wheel drive and made it just fine.
The location was perfect for me as I tidepooled at the nearby Salt Creek Rec Area, and then drove to the coast for some beach time. Port Angeles close as well if you have urban things to do.

Great upcoming place. Super secluded. However the “path” to site 4 is a hill and very uneven ground. Tons of holes at the campsite itself and dog poop. They even mowed a spot so we could bring our travel trailer. Would def recommend

Awesome place, if you just want a beautiful, peaceful ,convienient spot to camp and are not looking for a lot of amenities! Ground is soft, there are fields of wildflowers, and a pond with lots of frogs (no swimming). I loved falling asleep to the sound of frogs. The bathroom is just a port-a-potty type thing, but was clean. More pleasant than NF/NP campgrounds in my opinion, and so close to the National Park, as well as beautiful local beaches

Phenomenal experience. Everything from the customer service to the facilities were nothing short of immaculate. Undeniably the cleanest Port-a-Potty in existence. Not a single spot of dirt or debris on the entire campsite. Could not have asked for a better spot for our Third Grade graduation getaway camp. All the little tikes LOVED the spot and the experience as a whole. Astounding wildlife with thrushes, flycatchers, warblers, chickadees, banana slugs, and more. Unfortunately our little boy Trinket rubbed the banana slug all over his body and hasn’t been able to feel any of his extremities for the last 35 hours. Completely Trinket’s own fault and of NO FAULT of the owner. I’m sure he’ll be fine in no time. CANNOT recommend this campsite enough. Very large and arguably the best site of the entire campground. Please camp here!!! :)
