We enjoyed camping in our camper van here. It was so quiet and peaceful. The occasional gun shot sounds from nearby shooting range didn’t bother us. The landscape was interesting with trees, big boulders, ponds and lakes. We used our bikes to explore the gravel, sometimes steep, roads surrounding the property. The ranger who welcomed us was very friendly.

Grotto Pond
Loved our stay at Rocky Top at the Grotto Pond site. Spacious site, lots of privacy, and room for the dogs to play frisbee and swim in the pond. We listened to frogs all night! There is a gun club nearby so if your dog is sensitive to booms, this may not be the best spot for you. Maureen is a gracious host and has a lovely plan for her beautiful property. We will be back!

This place is amazing (so amazing that I don't even want to do a review so that it keeps it secret and nice.😉🤣)!! Maureen is such a gracious host, her land is beautiful, and the fact that there's only one site at each pond keeps everyone spread out. I will definitely return. Just a small warning for those with skittish animals: it is near a gun range (safely far away). My kitty did great, he got used to the bangs and pops in an afternoon, but just wanted to put it out there so others know.

Eagle's Nest
Maureen, (or Ranger Reenie as she goes by on the land) is a lovely soul with a beautiful vision for her land. It is an incredibly spacious property with ample sunshine or shade available in its many nooks and crannies amongst the cedar and birch and alder. If you're looking for solitude and a good reset, this is definitely the space - I saw only one other human all day and I roamed around a good bit. Super quiet from the man-made side, and ample melodies fill the air from the barn swallows and finches that dart about. I feel rejuvenated and grateful to have shared in this space for a few nights!

The site was wonderful and as described. We appreciate all of the work Maureen did as our host. There are multiple sites all around the property and all are wonderful. We loved the property so much we have switched our Wedding venue to be here. We would recommend to anyone looking for a quick and easy get away. We will be back for more visits when our schedule allows! Do not hesitate to book or camp here!

Beautiful property. You are really spread out so you don't even see other campers. Lots of areas to explore. We were there on 4th of July weekend so it was loud with surrounding firework fun but a normal weekend be utterly peaceful. We had already texted some friends about the place before the weekend was over

Eagle's Nest
Eagle's Nest is an amazing camping spot with gorgeous views! Our host, Maureen, was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. The property is massive, both kid- and pet-friendly, and perfect for a quick weekend getaway or a longer stay. Town is just a 30-minute drive away. We highly recommend it!

Lakeside RV Site 1
This was an amazing campground! From the grassy hills and trees, to the lakes and magical glacial boulders deposited through the 80+ acres. We had two 10 year old boys and one 7 month old baby. The boys had more than enough to do. Playing on the slack line we setup, chilling in the hammock, playing in the fields or just exploring. We couldn’t even explore the whole sight in the two nights we stayed. Its okay though! It means we have more than enough reason to come back! If you have dogs that are scared of gunshots, you might want to think about coming here. Sounded like a shooting range on the first day. It went on for a couple of hours. Nothing crazy for humans, but our dogs were having a time. I wouldn’t count this place out though just because of that. The second day it was very few and far between. It’s just something to think about and consider. Still would give this place a 10/10!!! I don’t want this place to blow up, kinda want it to stay kinda unknown. It won’t happen though, it’s tooo good of a place!

Trout Lake East
I loved camping on Maureen’s land. The scenery was breathtaking and very peaceful. My tent spot was directly by one of the pond’s and I loved watching all of the geese. Maureen was very friendly and extremely helpful. A fantastic host!!

What a great place! Acres and acres of space in a bucolic setting, with multiple sites to choose from. Only 10 minutes from Mt Vernon but feels like a world away. We stayed at Trout Lake East and loooved it! Maureen is awesome. Long time HipCampers and couldn't recommend it more!

Peaceful Forest Camping Escape

There are campgrounds… and then there are places that completely steal your heart. This was one of those places. From the moment we pulled in, it felt like stepping into a postcard. Towering evergreens surrounded a peaceful lake that reflected the trees and sky like glass. Between the mountain views, the quiet water, and the fresh air, it was the kind of peaceful you can physically feel. Our campsite sat right along the water with so much open space that it felt private and secluded. We spent our evenings around the fire watching the sun set behind the trees while the lake turned gold from the reflection. Relaxing in our hammock by the water with nothing but nature around us was pure heaven. The grounds were beautifully maintained, the scenery was breathtaking in every direction, and the entire atmosphere felt calm, quiet, and restorative. Waking up to the sound of birds, sipping coffee while looking out over the water, and ending the night under the stars made this one of the most relaxing camping trips we’ve ever had. No crowds, no noise, just nature, wildlife, and complete serenity. It was one of those rare places where you immediately start planning your next trip back before you’ve even packed up to leave. Hands down one of the most beautiful campsites we have ever stayed at and truly a hidden gem.

The hostess was very kind and helped us a lot. There was drinking water, clean toilets, and a place to make a campfire. The lake was right next to where we pitched the tent. I recommend this place.
