Magical forest retreat near town
Our stay at the farm was FANTASTIC! We decided on spot #6 and couldn't have been happier with it. Nice and secluded, down a little hill/clearing, with woods surrounding, it felt like we were in our own little magical forest retreat. It's amazing how quiet it is considering how close in location from Charlottesville. There is plenty of downed wood to forage, a big fire pit, and plenty of room for tents. Also, we received plenty of hospitality from the hosts! Bob came out to greet us when we went up to the house for showers, and his family (including sweet doggos) is just so nice.
Conserning the campsite itself, it is pristinely cared for. Even though it's down a slight slope of grass, we had no trouble getting in and out with our old fwd Kia Soul. That is, however, until it rained the last night for 10 hours. Getting out with the ground so soggy was a little tough, so I would recommend parking at the top of the hill if you expect storms and have a 2wd. It's only a short stroll to the campsite from there anyway, so it's a non issue.
All in all we adored camping there and will certainly be back in the future!
