Experience a side of Florida that’s becoming harder and harder to find. Hawk’s Hideaway sits on two private acres along the historic Peace River, offering a laid-back riverside retreat where fishing, paddling, wildlife, and quiet nights under the stars are part of everyday life. Located at the end of a quiet road, the property offers plenty of privacy and virtually no passing traffic. Wake up to birdsong, explore the property on foot or by bike, or head straight to the water. Guests can fish and kayak directly from the property, with access to the Peace River for boating and exploring the surrounding waterways. When evening arrives, the setting changes again. With no streetlights nearby, Hawk’s Hideaway offers remarkably dark skies where the stars and moon take center stage. Slow down, listen to the sounds of nature, and experience the quieter pace of Old Florida. The Peace River area is known for fishing, wildlife, and outdoor recreation, with additional opportunities for hiking, hunting, and exploring nearby. Despite the secluded feel, you’re only about 8 miles from downtown Punta Gorda and 5 miles from I-75, putting restaurants, shopping, nightlife, Gulf beaches, and destinations including Venice, Englewood, and Naples within reach. Your host is a retired businessman, sailor, and photographer who fell in love with the natural beauty and slower pace of this part of Florida. Hawk’s Hideaway reflects that same spirit: relaxed, outdoorsy, dog-friendly, and welcoming to travelers looking for a simple place to unwind. Whether you spend your stay fishing the Peace River, paddling from the property, exploring Southwest Florida, or simply sitting beneath a sky full of stars, come as you are and enjoy a quieter side of Florida. Doesn't recommend

Cockroaches and bedbugs are in the main house. I only stayed here for four days total and I was told on the first day that there was an outdoor bathroom available which was incorrect and then he contorted the situation where I needed to shower and use the restroom inside of his house, which has all of the bedbugs and cockroaches. The house is also a hoarding house and is dirty from ceiling to floor. The property is pretty bad as well. I found a broken drug pipe for drugs, besides marijuana in the yard while I was walking around with no shoes on the second day he was very adamant that I leave a review on the first day that was good. On the second day was when I found out that I had to use the restroom inside after I already left a good review for the first day. On the first day of a two day state that I signed up for I left at 2 o’clock in the morning and came back after he said that it was OK to leave and go whenever I pleased when I woke up, he was questioning me where I went at 2 o’clock in the morning and I said well it’s none of your business and he stated that it is his business because I’m staying on his property and I said once again that it wasn’t any of his business and he asked me to leave early when I had one more day to stay. He has four large dogs that make it impossible to have pets when you are there. He is very demanding and rude. He lists his property as available for a farm stay such as trading work for a stay, and he made me take photos of a camper that he switched me to after I rented one place which was rude in itself it was decorated with all of my things, and he is advertising it as the photos that I took with my things on other websites . I do not recommend this state to anyone, including especially solo female travelers. Every second of the day was a problem and Hawk does not give you very much privacy stating that you need to set reminders in your phone for things that go on at his house and all these things you have to do before you can get settled in. Absolutely not.

I loved staying here. I parked for a tent site in my sleeper van. Getting in and out of the property was easy as long as you take it steady on dirt path. Please remember to only use Google Maps for GPS to the location. When you arrive there is lots of shade, a picnic table, small grill, water and electricity hookups, etc. Lots of wildlife as well. Birds, lizards, tortoises, and a friendly squirrel family. I enjoyed my nights stay. I recommend!
