Large flat area above Wildomar and Lake Elsinore. Host has made numerous improvements to the space, including picnic table with shade cover, cooking area, light strings, porta potty, sink with running water, performance stage and seating, along with plenty of flat space to set up vehicles and tents.
Getting to the road to go up the hill can be a little tricky. You have to first drive through a hillbilly neighborhood with dirt roads, and follow your GPS carefully. You will wonder if you're going the right way, but stick with it. Once you get out of the neighborhood, you start climbing a rough dirt road and get to a gate where you enter a code provided by the host.
As others have posted, the road can get rough! Totally not suitable for low cars. 4x4 really helps, but not required as long as you have moderate ground clearance. The road doesn't have particularly large rocks, the main challenge is soft sandy areas and large ruts. Expect to drive about 10 minutes up this narrow dirt road, and would highly recommend against going up at night or in the rain.
If you encounter a car coming the other way, good luck!
There are 2 host partners that you should communicate with as you are on the way. They will give you the gate code, and directions on how to find the entrance to the camping area. There's a small sign on the side of the road showing where "camp" is. Once you drive in you will find the large flat area down the hill from the home, with plenty of space to set up.
Good views of the town below, and frequently skydivers can be seen coming down over the airport. Although the 15 fwy is miles away, the noise from vehicles can constantly be heard at the campsite. Being at the top of a hill with few large trees for cover, it can get WINDY!
We packed up earlier than expected on our 2nd day due to strong winds. Once of the tents was damaged when the poles bent, and our kitchen supplies started blowing away.
Overall good place to get way. Ideal for large groups and camping newbies. Having picnic table, sink, and porta potty is a huge plus for city slickers! Not the most scenic setting, and don't expect any wildlife beyond birds and lizards.
Would recommend to others.
