Desert Mountain Scenic Overlook
This spot is a gem! We have stayed here 3 times now, and it’s always so wonderful. It is pretty off-grid camping, aside from the fact that some water and a trash receptacle is provided. SO many stars at night, and the most gorgeous sunsets. The desert winds can pick up without any notice, so learn from our mistakes and tie down your awnings/tents/etc immediately 😂 Hope to come back soon!

Desert Mountain Scenic Overlook
Our family of 3 + 2 dogs loved the quiet mountain views. Be careful pulling in, the driveway comes up fast and is easy to miss. I would definitely recommend 4 wheel drive. Otherwise, instructions were clear and it’s a nice simple site.

Desert Dreamland was amazing! Directions to the property were exact. Marlon communication was prompt with very detailed description of the check in process along with photos. The area was super quiet and the view was just as good as in the photos. Would definitely visit there again.

This was our second trip back. We're grateful for this site because it feels very private, and is great for stargazing (we went with hopes of catching a few shooting stars during the Perseid Meteor Shower, and we weren't disappointed). There are plenty of onsite trails and boulders to climb. We explored the area below the vista point and saw a neat change in the rock formation and microhabit affected by more moisture. We went during mid-August and were surprised by how chilly it was our first night (in the summer), but appreciated a nice breeze the next day. Erecting a shade structure was still essential. Potable water offered onsite was helpful. Marlon is good to communicate with if needed.

This place has very majestic views, but a few set backs. They don't clean it in between visitors or missed it this time. There was some trash around the little inlet and the trash barrel had some trash that had been there for who knows how long and smelled awful. There are a lot of places to explore on the property, but none of them are near the campsite. I'd suggesting driving the area first and planning a hike around what interests you most. I never got to the rows of orchard like trees in the pictures. They must be tucked away somewhere. The seasonal spring wasn't there, which was to be expected with how dry it's been. The gate locking/unlocking everytime you go to leave can be tedious. The hedges need trimmed so the gate doesn't have to run through them to close. This place is good for a little solitude and R&R. Really no wildlife to speak of, which makes for sound sleeping. There are just so many good "primitive" camping spots in Southern California that are free, that it's hard for me to go out of my way to recommend this one. If the stream were flowing, I'd probably feel differently. Nothing they can do about that. View 10/10. Everything else 6/10.

The owner's instructions were essential! We arrived late evening (not recommended) but were able to still find the gate to the campsite. The pinpoint map link provided helped to show that the small path to turn into the campsite is before the listed address (same side of the road). The "make your own hike" was such a luxury! Plenty of space to explore, large rocks to boulder, and on-site trails provide options for difficulty depending on preference. Private and calm, perfect for our cattle breed dog to roam off leash during our hikes. Amazing view of the vista on one side, the valley/canyon to the other. So beautiful especially at dusk! The desert heat/dryness is no exaggeration-even at just 90 degrees! As forewarned by Marlon, shade structure and plenty of liquids were essential. We experienced some winds during the day, but they flowed in a stable direction. Fortunately, our shade structure held up, staking our poles down and using the stable picnic table bench for added bracing were critical. Fortunate too with the weather during the last weekend of May, as we experienced a refreshing 10-degeee drop in temp on our second day. Thank you Marlon for offering this opportunity for our family to have a memorable experience in the desert!

Desert Mountain Scenic Overlook
My husband and I, along with our three dogs, had a fantastic stay at this campsite. This is actually our second time staying here and we are already talking about when our next trip will be. We love the location, the view, and the quiet. The site is large and it’s easy to find a pretty level spot. We were able to do a few hikes directly from the campsite which is a really nice bonus. This is probably our favorite Hipcamp site so far!

Had such a peaceful weekend with my dogs here. Camped, hiked, explored—can’t recommend enough for a quick weekend getaway.
I did have some issues with the gate and Marlon was so helpful in resolving the issues immediately. I felt very safe & secure alone on the property.

Highly recommend. Feels super secluded and far away from everything. Great views. The rock formations are beautiful and fun to explore around. The dirt road is slightly steep and bumpy in some parts (to be expected), but is well maintained with packed dirt and was easily drivable in our 2wd car.

Desert Mountain Scenic Overlook
We had such a wonderful time here. Private with an incredible view, this has become one of our favorite finds on Hipcamp. The driving path to the spot is a little precarious (especially if arriving at night), so if you are bringing a trailer (like we were), be sure your vehicle has some power behind it. Even so, this was wonderful. Brought our dog with us and we'll certainly be back.

We loved our time on Marlon’s land! Getting in was a breeze, the pin took us right to the gate and the signs were easy to follow up the road. We made it just fine in our stock ‘23 rav4.
We would definitely liken this space to Joshua tree - lots of rocks and shrubs, but no shade, so plan accordingly. Gusty winds kept us nice and cool; we were well staked down so this wasn’t a concern for us.
The two wooden tables onsite were perfect, we didn’t even end up needing the one we brought.
The site itself is has a big loop, with gradual inclines all around that made for great little nature walks. The 180 degree views in front of us consisted of lots of open land, roads, and rolling hills with just a few houses or trailers sprinkled throughout. Behind us was a big hill with trails that we had fun hiking, we went about a mile up and the views of the surrounding valley and distant snow capped mountains were incredible. There were lots of rocks to climb up there, too!
Our reactive dog LOVED how secluded we were, and we did too! We brought a long line for him and he really seemed to enjoy getting to explore.
This is a fantastic spot for stargazing and birdwatching (we saw vultures, hummingbirds, and hawks just to name a few). Venus, Jupiter, and Mars were easily seen with the naked eye, along with LOTS of stars!
You can hear some occasional distant road noise and dog barking, but this didn’t bother us.
We had an incredible time and plan to return again soon.

It’s was amazing trip, we a lot of fun the entire time there was a lot to see and explore we had problem getting the car all the way up but they offered a different path to go up and they were really nice. I loved the experience and it was amazing to would come back again. Didn’t see any mountain lions, bobcats, coyotes, or snakes so didn’t have to worry for my pets at all.

Incredible views. Serene. Well maintained campsite with lots of space. Very nice that a garbage can is provided.
Secure as well, locked gate access to the farm property.
Be mindful of the long dirt road heading up to camp. No issue for us in our Passport hauling a camper trailer.
We will be back for sure!

Overall we had a good experience but there are definitely some things campers should know:
The drive from the road to the is rough for a 2WD or even our FWD converted cargo van.
There is no shade at the site, which makes it imperative to bring your own. Unfortunately our easy-up canopy ripped in the wind.
The stars are wonderful but the angle of a nearby rise/bend in the main road is such that you will frequently see headlights shining toward you from a distance.
Critters are definitely all around you so be prepared especially at night.
Once they adjusted, my kids loved the bouldering and exploring at the site and we left during the daytime to find cooler temps and adventures.

Desert Mountain Scenic Overlook
This is a gorgeous spot that's super peaceful with lots of privacy. The hosts are friendly and communicated everything very well. There's also a great hike behind the campground in the nature preserve.
Note: If you have a larger RV some of the turns are a bit tight.

Views, privacy, and stars were absolutely great. Marlon was very responsive and we found the entrance easily with the Google map pin he provided. We had a van and a pop up trailer so not a problem that there are no bathroom facilities, but having water nearby was very helpful. Our two dogs loved running around off leash and we purchased some firewood from Marlon that was right there. The flat spot for camping was immaculate.
