The area was really beautiful with Avenue of the Giants and Richardson Grove State Park a close drive away. There was some inconsistency in what was written on the Hipcamp app and what the camp manager said, though. I reserved the 6-person tent camping site on the Hipcamp app, which included amenities like the porta-potty and camp kitchen. When we got to the site, the manager came over on an ATV and told us the tent camping area was on this expanse of grass with little to no shade. He said he would to upgrade us to the RV camp site at the top of the hill, nestled under three beautiful trees (we were the only campers that weekend). He said that, since he was upgrading us, we could use the amenities –– porta-potty, camp kitchen, and newly built camp shower. But the app said those were already included in the reservation. Although we were able to enjoy these amenities, I feel like the app description and the camp manager should be on the same page. Another important issue with the campsite is the noise. There were neighborhood dogs that barked seemingly all night (at least until 2am). I was glad I didn't have any reactive dogs with me during my stay, but the noise from the neighborhood dogs nevertheless made it difficult to fall asleep. I have not decided if I would stay at this location again, but I definitely would choose the RV site over the tent site if I had a choice.
