Chief White Crane Recreation Area

Friends, family, children, and grandparents, gather here at Chief White Crane Recreation Area and look to the sky. Why, you ask? Because you’ll probably see a bald eagle! While you’re watching out for those majestic wings, take advantage of the incredible beauty and recreation of this park. Namely, the camping, biking, canoeing, fishing, and hiking. Being conveniently located alongside Yankton, Lewis and Clark Recreation Area, Gavins Point Dam, and Pierson Ranch, roosting in one of these cozy campsites or cabins gives you great and easy access to much of the wilderness of southeastern South Dakota. If you come between November and March, vehicle traffic will be prohibited in the park because of bald eagle nesting. Tread lightly, stay alert, and you just may spot one!
