Elk Rock State Park

Load em up and head down to Elk Rock State Park for some mighty fine scenery and a sparkling lake beckoning you for a visit. The lake is surrounded by some sweet rock formations, there are miles of multi-use trails, and lots of camping options of all types, including many equestrian sites. Boat ramps make it easy to explore and fish the waters of Lake Red Rock and the Des Moines River. Don’t forget the binocs, camera, and your bird book! The lake is known as a major stopover point for migrating birds including pelicans and bald eagles among a whopping 200 species that pass through this area. They must be attracted to the 43 species of fish, the gorgeous wildflowers, and the lush and diverse vegetation and wildlife habitat that surrounds the area.
