We offer basic campsites with picnic tables, drinking water, a fire pit, a composting toilet, and a pop-up tent in case it rains. You will be camping on soft grass amongst giant Ironwood and eucalyptus trees while listening to the soft sounds of the creek below. Take a swim in the spring-fed waterfall swimming hole and relax by the fire pit at night. There are a total of 4 cabins on the one acre lot. The owners are on property, other guests may or may not be here as well. There is a dog Valentine, two outdoor cats named Ghost and Tomi, and chickens/ducks. Each cabin has a queen mattress. We rent both cabins out for larger groups. Jungle massages are available on site starting at $100 for the hour. Please note the main image capturing a lava cliff sunrise is not visible from the cabin. It is about a 30-40 minute drive from us 🌊 ☀️ 🌋 We are at 1880ft elevation so it can get chilly at night. Winters are also rainy season so if traveling to the Big Island in the winter, I suggest some light layers for warmth, a raincoat and rain boots.

A Wonderful cozy spot. The property is beautiful! You can even wake up in the morning and pick oranges and mountain apples for breakfast. Lots of activities in the area as well and Carol is happy to tell you all about them. She is a Wonderful host and very helpful with any questions you may have. Would love to stay here again!

2 nights at Hamakua Guesthouse

We stayed in 3 places on the island and this was by far our favorite. There was plenty of space, it was clean and lovely, well stocked kitchen, and the setting was beautiful including the swimming hole with waterfall! (which sadly we didn't get to go in as we were out so much)...as others have said, I would have liked to have stayed there longer and just enjoyed the property. Everything about it was easy and convenient. They even had a TV and DVD collection- though we were mostly offline for our week in Hawaii, it was perfect to watch a silly. movie on one of the nights. Would definitely go back, thank you Hamakua Guest House (Rover View Family House)!

This little gem was absolutely lovely. It had everything we needed for a couple nights on the big island. The fact that it had a clean, fully functional bathroom and running, hot water was a huge draw for us. Being able to fall asleep to the sound of the creek was incredibly peaceful. We were able to get the jungle camping feel, but get back on the plane clean and refreshed. Absolutely would recommend.

We enjoyed our stay at the Tranquil Duck. It was nice and cool, which was great after a hot day. The shower was nice and we enjoyed coffee with the ducks and pea fowl. They were so cute! Very comfortable and a nice stay close to volcano national park and Hilo. We would love to come back!

We had a one-night stay here and, due to our schedule, didn't spend much time on the property, but when we were there, it was nice. The showers and toilets were clean, as well as the surrounding areas to lounge or eat in. Lauren was at the front desk when we arrived and provided us with some great recommendations for lunch and visiting Mauna Kea. They have a resident cat that we saw and snuggled with. We would definitely recommend this location.

2 nights at Gingerhill Farm Retreat

I loved staying in the Jungle Canopy! It was incredible to hear the birds in the morning when making coffee, and hear the frogs sing at night. The bed was super comfy and it was awesome to have my own bathroom with the cool outdoor shower (with hot water!!). The Canopy is a short walk from the parking area so it’s easy to bring your bag up, just don’t forget to bring some bug repellent for the mosquitos, and don’t forget to go say hi to the goats and chickens down in the garden! This place is a true delight and I’m excited to come back one day.

I personally loved the hammock camping although it may not be everyone's cup of tea. The first night the rain woke me up but by the third night the sound of the rain was the perfect white noise and improved my sleep. This place is just 20 minutes or so from all the beaches in Hilo and was really nice. I would recommend

Jo’el was a gracious host and steward of the land. We were grateful to have had the opportunity to explore this sacred land. We seen wild horses, met new friends and shared time together around the campfire. Site #1 accommodated both of our hammock setups. My organic bug spray did not work so bring the DEET or long layers.

We loved the place and also our host. We felt very welcomed, and Mae deoivered everything promised, maybe even more. She has also great helper, Nobbs dog), who came to visit us every morning for back-scratching. We will definitely choose this camping if we will be back on the island.

Weekend Trip to The Tranquil Homestead

We loved Christopher and Esther's little homestead! The location was perfect: secluded and serene, but close enough to Hilo and Volcano. The ducks and peafowl absolutely made the trip. It brought us so much joy seeing them all waddle down to our spot to greet us, even if all they wanted was for us to feed them duck food! The place was clean, the kitchen was well stocked, and the hosts were super helpful and friendly. Will definitely be booking this again!

Weekend Trip to Big Island Retreat

This was a really cute and cozy glamping spot. I would still bring some basics such as utensils, a knife and a flashlight but otherwise it has more than what you need. There is drinking water, coffee, cooking utensils, stove, sink, etc. It was really nice that you can bring pets too, my dog loved it so much! My 7 yo was very excited to be there too. I highly recommend staying here and experiencing the Hamakua Coast.

We loved our stay here. We arrived in the evening and everything was amazing! They had towels and blankets we slept well in the hammocks (although it is very loud at night when it rains so I would suggest bringing earplugs). The bathrooms were very clean and they also provided soap which was nice. We did not use the kitchen but it was very clean and tidy when we passed by. Lots of stray kitties around. There is river access with an area to swim which my partner loved!! Highly recommend and would come again
