Peaceful Prairie Campsites consists of 200+ acres of prairie pasture bordering the south side of Scotts Bluff National Monument. Under the care of third generation steward, Lisa Betz-Marquez, the beautiful bluffs feature a stunning backdrop to a those seeking a private and peaceful experience, birding, wildlife-spotting, or an adventure-seeking hike.
Rustic Tent sites (allowing cars, vans, rooftop tents, truck campers, and motorcycles, but not RVs or pull-behind trailers) are located directly on the prairie.
The prairie is a fragile environment. To preserve its beauty and health, trailers and RVs must book the RV sites. We appreciate your cooperation.
RV sites 50 amp electricity and a rustic experience on crushed concrete near our corral. You'll have foot access just steps from the prairie.
All sites share access to delicious potable water, a clean porta potty, and a funky outdoor camp shower (with unheated water), as well as private foot access to hiking at various levels of challenge to the south side of our nation's Scotts Bluff National Monument.
A small group of yearling cattle are at home on the prairie in summer months, and may share you the prairie tent area with campers in the months of May and June.
Prairie guests have relished the feeling of having the place to themselves to enjoy the majesty of the landscape, the magic of our starry night skies and the soulful communion with the land.
Lisa is the fourth generation of her family to live on Valley View Farm, located directly south of the prairie. Her family has been steward of these lands since 1925. Lisa is a member of a pioneer family. Ancestor, Martin Gering, came to the valley in 1887. As an early investor in the fledgling town, the town of Gering was named for him. My homestead is located on 4 1/2 acres of pastureland that currently have no animals. You will turn on Powell rd to reach the back portion. The camping spots are located on the back part of the property and along a refurbished shed that includes 1 added 30 amp plug; interior electric, clean well water delivery or hose filling in warmer months as well as a separately fenced area for visiting canines (Please only non-aggressive breeds unless leashed at your camp). My Golden has an invisible fence and is not allowed to visit campers unless permitted. Fires are only permitted and shared on the back patio of my home. Activities for fun on site include corn hole, firepit on lower patio along with a propane weber grill. Only 2-3 mile from Frontier Park and an electric bike ride to downtown to tour the museums, restaurants and shops.
Currently, new to hip camp and refurbishing the house and exterior so The Shed will be a working/congregating space with refrigerator/freezer, electric cooktop and indoor space with a fan so folks can escape their cars/vans. Wi-Fi is also available in the shed and the surrounding camp areas toward the building.
This was my dream come true property and I'm looking forward to sharing it with road warriors like me. Weather is forever changing here and clouds roll by fast leaving the most fabulous rainbows. I just ask that no fires of any kind be set at your site because the field is a fire hazard in the dry plains.

Beautiful "dry" camping spots available for tents, Truck top campers, and camper vans. No RVs or pull behind campers. The property has over 400 trees, porta potties will be available, and an outdoor shower will be installed soon! Well Water also available to fill Campers if needed. Horses welcomed with prior approval with host, but limited spots available for horses. The camp host is willing to arrange rides to and from Frontier Park as well as Laramie County Fairgrounds with notice and fee as long as host is available. We look forward to sharing our beautiful piece of Wyoming with you!
Camping areas are available in any of the white outlined areas as designated by campsite signs and designated spots outlined on Hip Camp.
Parking is the area highlighted in blue. If it gets full, can also park in the back pasture area.
Porta potties are located at the light green way point.
Water hydrants are located at the Blue X waypoints.
We do have honey bee hives on property, which are located with the Yellow X waypoint. You are more than welcome to view them if you would like, just please do not touch the hives or any of their watering frames which are black.
We also have Chicken coops on property with 26 hens and 2 roosters which are located at the red waypoint with the bird. They do enjoy going up to people and eating out of hands. They might peck slightly when trying to eat though. The 2 roosters do protect their hens.
Park vehicle in the blue highlighted area as to not have vehicle traffic in the grassed areas down the tree rows. Also, to not have someone accidentally run over a small tree. Please watch out for pink flags. Those markers are for smaller trees so they are easy to spot and not broken down by stepping on them. You are more than welcome to drive along the right side of the property just past the blue area to the back pasture area if you need to for unloading gear for the back wooded tent sites.

This was the best site I've ever camped at and can't recommend it enough! You're all to yourself but still nearby other sites. The town, as well as Scottsbluff NM and Chimney Rock, are close by. Lisa was an excellent host, wish we could've talked longer! Make sure you're well prepared for the weather...the wind swept through the canyon just right and snapped our tent. Will definitely look for this place again the next time I come out!

This land is gorgeous and we felt so lucky to camp there. We decided to camp last minute on our cross country road trip back home to Idaho and it happened to be my birthday. The sunset was incredible and the prairie was gorgeous. Be prepared for the wind!

Wow, it was raining HARD when we were driving towards the Peaceful Prairie location and the road condition concerned Lisa. She contacted us right away about getting into our spot and settled. Through the hip camp site/app and LIsa's guidance, we found our spot just fine and had a nice evening in the drizzle. Woke up to some beautiful fog and singing birds. The road does get a little greasy with that kind of rain, but we did fine.

Camping at Lisa’s was perfect for the night. Super private, amazing crazy beautiful views of Scott’s Bluff NM from your tent/camper, and easy access to trash, water, bathroom :) Lisa was super friendly and responsive (and greeted me at the site), and finding the site was really easy

The open land is outstanding! Everything you need is available. Peace and quiet an outdoor kitchen , an outdoor shower. All types of campers would love this place. RVs have plugs, tents have space!
