The first time we viewed this property, we knew we were home.
The woods, fields, wildlife, and house (created almost entirely from the lumber harvested from the land) drew us in. We purchased the home and 40 acres in 2018.
Since then it has been a labor of love to make it everything we dream.
A campground suitable for horseback riding was the goal for W15266.
This was where the original homestead stood (firepit area).
That home was transported across 95 on Davis road to become an Amish home.
This area was overgrown and filled with rubbish, but still had a great deal of suitable plants hidden in the raspberries. We are continually working to groom it, and eventually, hope to better level the drive and sites and cover them with gravel.
We need more and better fire pits and intend to have at least one more cabin- perhaps created from a refurbished corn crib?
This cabin was refurbished in 2020 from the original homestead’s summer kitchen (where food was prepared to keep the house from getting too warm).
Although it may have been easier to demolish and start over, Julie convinced Craig that the history was worth it. ;) I can’t tell you how disGUSTING it was, but we found treasures like the chair upstairs, the ironing board, and items on the walls and cupboards amongst the piles of Asian beetles and mouse chewings.
Our current project you see in front is the bath/shower house.
It has a toilet and shower and was completed 2021. With expansion, we will add one more toilet on the other side.
The old shed in front, is a disaster.
We fluctuate the same way we did with the summer kitchen: bulldoze or refurbish? It currently houses our equipment and lumber, but someday, we are hoping to have a small country Tiki bar.
Craig has received the liquor license already.
We love tucked away country bars with unique flavors, so we hope we can offer this to our customers.
Jeske Equestrian is also a boarding/training facility.
We built the horse barn in 2019, and last year we put up a 60x180 indoor riding arena.
Maintaining and creating trails has been extensive.
Keeping up on the signage and the trail map has been nearly impossible since Craig loves creating new ones with the skid steer on a regular basis!
We are working on the pond area to be more recreational in our future as well.

2 nights at Fisher Cat Creek Forest Retreat
Fisher Cat Creek was a great spot to relax and disconnect. Thank you to David and Veronica for the hospitality, the cabin was very comfortable and cozy. Everything was very clean and ready to go (having a little dog that sticks his little nose on everything we appreciate how tidy everything was). We had a couple of rainy nights but there was plenty of dry firewood to cook on the stove inside. We spent a lot of time reading on the couch with the sound of the rain and Archie had a great time while we explored the surrounding woods, definitely recommend going on a hike!!
David and Veronica have thought of everything we could have needed, kitchen has literally all the utensils, beds were clean and comfy, plenty of firewood and drinking water, T.P., BBQ setup, lots of books and boardgames, plus the long dog tie out leash already set up was perfect! It was so comfortable we could have stayed way longer. What a cool place, very thoughtfully designed and built! Can’t wait to come back some other time!

Located in a beautiful rural area. The bathroom building was great! We visited the Lake Wazee Recreation area and that was beautiful. The electric ped had 20/30/50. We didn’t have horses, so I’m sure that would made it even better. Very nice stay.

Stayed two night at Julie’s land. It was quiet and peaceful. Definitely need to bring bug spray for mosquitoes are pretty bad. Nice to have a shower. Wonderful if you’re indoor horses.

Nice, well-kept handful of sites. Fully functional bathroom is an added treat! Noise levels range from dead quiet, to trains, to roosters in the distance. None of the noises were persistent and the surrounding area is beautifully rural. Julie is friendly and communicative. A pleasant pit stop during a long trip!

We’re really happy we found Julie’s land! It’s perfect for what we need for a night’s stay. The area was clean and we enjoyed the nature around us (as we’re the only one camping that night 😉). The electric hookup was so appreciated as we were able to use our air conditioning in this summer heat. The biggest surprise and very much appreciated was a really nice camping bathroom with shower & flush toilet. We will surely come back here should we be in this area in the future. Thank you Julie!

2 nights at Fisher Cat Creek Forest Retreat
The cabin at Fisher Cat Creek was absolutely precious for a solo retreat. The design of it was so beautifully done in every aspect. Water, blankets, and utensils are provided, which was awesome! My favorite amenity, though, was the egg-shaped porch swing (Second only to the library of books to choose from). My trip made for an excellent couple days of pure relaxation and reading/writing while the rain poured down. I stayed cozy and felt like I could give my brain a break from daily life. Thank you thank you thank you!

3 nights at Fisher Cat Creek Forest Retreat
Veronica and Dave’s Cabin was so aesthetically pleasing and cozy to live in for a few days. They were extremely hospitable and friendly upon arrival.
We were there in late January during some cold weather, and even in negative temps at some points, but the wood stove heated the cabin well.
We feel very relaxed after this trip, and we would certainly recommend it to people that love nature and living simply.

We loved this little cabin so much that we booked a summer stay on the drive home! The details are amazing and you can tell the owners put a lot of love and care into the space. The sauna was lovely, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen is pretty well equipped - we can’t wait to be back. Note that there is no electricity at this site, but plenty of lanterns / solar lights are provided. A headlamp helps!

This place is really nice! The cabin has wood burning stove that although could get smoky, was a much appreciated touch. We didn't get a chance to do as much as expected but we only stayed 1 night. Maybe we can come back when it's a little warmer. The sauna was nice too. Outhouse provided us with a true camping experience. We are novice campers who love being outdoors. Thank you very much for the wood provided for our fires, would definitely recommend this place to anyone interested in a cool little getaway
