Est. 1966, the West Fork Sports Club has been a special place for multiple generations of both local community members and people from across the country. Nestled in between two valleys with 3,500 feet of stream front property on the West Fork of the Kickapoo, we truly have one of the most unique campgrounds you'll ever visit. Having avoided glacial drift during the last ice age, the Driftless area boast beautiful valleys, bluffs and rolling hills that you won't find anywhere well in Wisconsin. We are an Environmental Conservation Club always accepting new members. A temporary membership is included in camping fees and goes toward environmental conservation work and maintaining grounds, free wifi, etc. Our 20 acre property boast 3,500 feet of stream-front class 1 trout fishing on the West Fork of the Kickapoo (a top 100 trout stream in the US). Our entire stretch of stream is fully improved and excellent to fish. We have a healthy native brown trout population. We work with a local school science program to raise and stock brook trout every year. We have resident Sandhill Cranes, Bald Eagles, Oriels, Willow Fly Catchers, Hummingbirds and many other avian species. Nestled between two valleys, we frequently have stunning sunsets. We are far enough way from light pollution to easily see the Milky Way Galaxy on a clear night. The star gazing is amazing and if you keep your eyes up at night, you're pretty much guaranteed to see a shooting star, if not multiple. The West Fork Sport Club is truly a special campground. We're a short 15 minute drive from Viroqua which has a lot of great local shops, the Driftless Café (Owned and operated by Wisconsin Foodie host Luke Zahm) and a fantastic farmer's market. We're 25 minutes from Wild Cat Mountain which has extensive hiking trails. There are also two great vineyards within 15 minutes. Also, the land was the Eastern banks of a large logging mill lake/pond 150 yrs ago, so the shoreline slopes do not allow campers in/out of the pasture areas. A popup would be feasible with a full size 4 wheel drive utility vehicle in river bottom/shorelines. Tents /Low impact camping are best. In 2019 a transition to Animal Therapy, Fishing Therapy, and Pastured pigs from New Zealand which originally were almost extinct because of their friendly nosey nature at times gets them into trouble. They graze on open pasture most of the year and rest in the sun next to a trout stream. Learn more about this land: We are a working farm with mostly rescued farm animals. Beautiful, secluded campsite with a babbling brook running through!! The region is gorgeous in the fall. The outhouse was clean and well kept. Tai + Stella’s visitor guide and map were very informative and easy to follow. Logan brought us firewood and allowed us to enjoy the area in peace. Highly recommend if you’re looking for an escape out in nature.

Pretty spot along the river. Access to kayaking and tubing during warm weather. Michael was a friendly host. Good privacy between sites. One heads up, Google maps will tell you that you’ve arrived, but you’ll need to go just a little further before you see the red building.

Was there over the weekend and it was all to myself. This driftless region has valleys which makes it more interesting and exciting. The campground is in pristine condition. The bathrooms were clean. They have lots of trails that takes you up the mountain and around. Donna’s daughter is an amazing host. Will definitely return.

Weekend Trip to Old Red Mill Oasis

The Old Red Mill Oasis is heaven on earth in Central Wisconsin! The whole property along the Big Plover River has been carefully curated, with gazing benches showcasing meditative views. I loved to listen to the rush of the river at the Red Mill, and walk the manicured trails. My doodle dog Yummy is in absolute bliss on the land! The mushroom hunting was sublime in the prime! Michael is such a gracious host and wants to make your experience a memory to last forever. The kayaking is supreme, with a few different options. It's a treat when the heron leads you back to camp. Thank you, Michael!

My wife and I have now been traveling to this wonder of a campground for a couple of years now, and it is utopian, peaceful, and something akin to magical. I'm hesitant to leave a review because its wonder lies in its seclusion and solitudinous beauty, but I would be dishonorably unforthright to the proprietors of such an estate to withhold the proportionate praise that sharing a paradisiacal place of tranquil respite deserves to garner.

We had reserved campsite number 4, but when we arrived we were told that somebody was already on that spot. They had other sites available and we ended up at a site by the 13th disc golf hole. I was a little frustrated to start that we didn't get our original choice and that the site we had was like a third of a mile from a porta potty. But what started frustrating they more than made up for with the incredible scenery. Our site was pretty remote which is what we wanted so that our dogs could be off leash and free without concern because we have one reactive dog. They were off leash the entire time running through the woods and having the time of their life. It was so incredibly peaceful and we only crossed paths with maybe three sets of disc golfers playing the course. Other than that it felt like we had the place to ourselves. They do have really big shower /bathroom situation in their nice barn that we experienced on our way out.

The campsite was lovely. Michael was such a great host! He delivered wood and even started our fire for us Friday night when I didn’t have a lighter 😌 He told us where to start upstream for a paddling trip and also was welcoming and sweet to our dog. We plan on visiting again!

This space is like a dream, definitely not like any campground I've been to before. The winding country roads passing by buggies and neighbors waving were signs we were going to the right place. Our site was surrounded by a babbling creek that we splashed around in during the day. The dogs especially enjoyed that part! Each site was spread out and private, with the creek joining the grounds together. The compost outhouse was awesome and I never had to wait in line even with all of the spots occupied. It was so peaceful and tranquil but we also felt able to let loose and have joyful moments. Having spring water and firewood available was amazing and we only had to leave the property once to reup on supplies (theres poor service but reliable wifi to upload maps to the nearest stores, noted on the welcome guide). If you have dogs or children there are spots that are more secluded to choose from. We liked Coyote to camp by our cars but our pups are still practicing not barking hello every time a neighbor passed by. We felt so lucky to have to found this slice of bliss amongst the acres of farmland and rolling forests. Being there exceeded our expectations and we can't wait to go back.

We had a phenomenal time staying on Gary’s land! He’s such a nice guy with a plethora of knowledge to share. He had the fire going for us when we arrived and brought us hot coffee the next morning :) The animals were incredible! Many are free roam and we got to encounter several different ones. We felt very safe knowing To Go protects the land and keeps coyotes, etc away. The river is beautiful and quiet. The entrance is through two gates by his house; you can come and go as you please and he’ll meet you when you arrive to get acquainted with the simple-to-use system. It’s close to town and Gary is a great resource for any questions! We would absolutely stay again.

It was my second time at Flutterby Farm. I really love this property and I’m so thankful Tai and Stella and Logan are so generous to share their slice of heaven with the rest of us. The star gazing is unbeatable and having creek access at each campsite is a huge bonus. My Labradors were loving the water. My friends and I have always felt safe and welcomed and I plan to return again in the future!

If you are in a camper this is an open area overlooking the rapids that is used for this site.

Amazing setting for a camping trip! The stream weaves around and through the campsites and allows for a lot of fun water play activities. My kids did a lot of bark boat racing, and splashing around. Kept them busy for hours. At the end of the day they put themselves to bed they were so tired. The prairie and trails are beautiful as well. So many bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Great place for some private rest and relaxation. We'll definitely be back again!
