2 nights at Into The Woods

Where do I even start? Maybe at the fact that we absolutely cannot wait to return?! We had so much fun at “the dome”. The autumn trees worked out perfectly for us – the trees were in full color and the weather mostly cooperated while we were there. The second night we were able to see the stars and MY GOODNESS, it was absolutely spectacular. It was expected to be pretty chilly during the night, so I brought a 10x20ft tarp to lay on the ground and help insulate against it and I think that helped significantly during our second night when the temp was about 36*. We cooked over the fire mostly for meals, but also drove the few minutes to A&W for root beer floats daily. The compostable toilet is located behind a small partition to provide a bit of privacy, but there is also a gas station within three minutes of the site so I just drove to use that one mostly. The solar powered fan circulated the air a bit, but there’s only so much you can move the air around in a dome shaped space… it was 70* on our second day and it got warm inside of the dome pretty quickly. We were able to buy firewood at the Adventure Church lot (five minutes away) and paid $5/bundle in cash at a self-serve stand. This stand is covered, so it had dry wood even after it rained the first night. We loved how secluded it felt without also feeling like we were in the middle of nowhere. Weekend Trip to Hoppensteadt Hills

Very last minute, I realized I needed to go camping: my stay in Site 1, Birch, was just what I was seeking for some nature nurturing. The site was private as promised (in fact I had whole campground to myself) and beautifully tucked in the woods. The yurt tent is well designed (side pockets, table in middle around center pole, also with pockets for stashing gear). Outhouse was a bit of a hike, though even the walk was pleasant, and so clean: the automatic light inside (and solar lights outside) was unexpected nice touch! I enjoyed the barred owl, sand hill cranes at night; great blue heron on one of our hikes on the property. I didn't think about it being duck hunting season, so the early morning and late evening distant gun sounds were scary for my dog, and the 2nd night fox barking was quite startling! But a good reminder we're in the woods! Maryam was helpful with answering questions during booking.

1 night at Hoppensteadt Hills

We had a nice stay at Maryam’s campsite. The tent was clean and the area was peaceful, which made for a relaxing night. We arrived after dark and quickly realized how dark it gets since there are no exterior lights provided—definitely recommend bringing plenty of lanterns or flashlights. The grass and surrounding area could use a bit of trimming as it was a little overgrown, and we did notice quite a few large spiders both on and inside the tent, so keep that in mind if you’re not a fan of bugs. The queen-sized air mattress we brought barely fit inside the tent, but it worked out okay. The host wasn’t super responsive, but we did appreciate being able to check out late, which was a nice touch. Overall, the experience was good and we gave it five stars.

I had a wonderful weekend at Mary Ann's property. I was in the Birch site which was very private, with lots of trees. There was a place to hang my hammock and the yurt was very comfortable. Have a beautiful trails to walk on, and I could hear lots of wildlife. Marianne was very warm and welcoming and can't think of one single complaint.

1 night at Northern Lights Cabin

Absolutely loved the space. Tucked away and got a good taste of what life (almost off grid) was like. The outdoor shower was a fun and the night sky was beautiful as we sat around the fire. There’s a boat and kayak at the end of the trail to take out on the little lake nearby. Close to so much but far enough where it was peaceful.

Weekend Trip to Hoppensteadt Hills

We absolutely had a marvelous camping weekend at Maryam‘s land. The whole family is so friendly if you want to connect. There are four sites far enough apart, where you feel like you’re the only ones there, with an occasional friendly noise further away. Our anxious dog had the best time exploring and felt very safe being away from our suburban neighborhood. They clearly take good care of their land, they even have the most beautiful and delicious Honeycrisp apple farm – do yourself a favor and buy a bag on your way out. The Porta potty is the cleanest one I’ve ever been in. Ever. Smells great, Maryam said they switch it out every week, there’s even a mirror in there and it’s always fully stocked. It was a highlight! There are beautiful paths to explore – plenty of quiet time in the canopy of woods to read, play games, cook over the fire. Having the large, clean tent already set up made the weekend a bonus! We could fit 1 queen sized air mattress, 2 cots, and still had plenty of space for our stuff. We had a wonderful weekend – we’ll be back and will recommend to others!

First time at the dome, it was a lovely time! Loved how private it was and Linda was very helpful with instructions and answering my questions! Having a fan in there was nice due to the August humidity, tho it didn’t last very long. It did rain heavily once and there was some leaking from the roof, but we caught the drips in some containers, but nothing that ruined the experience for us! Thank you Linda for hosting us, we’d love to come back!

Weekend Trip to Northern Lights Cabin

We really enjoyed the Northern Lights Campground. It is close enough to everything you need and somehow super remote! We had so much fun on the lake with the canoe & kayak. We saw a whole flock of swans. Plus, the view of the sky was just what we were looking for! Eric was very helpful communication wise and answered all questions timely. We would definitely stay again in future years.
