Experience upscale camping–Glamping in the Forested Hills of Lake Superior. Sailor Springs is a small three-site campground located just two miles outside of the picturesque tourist town of Bayfield, WI. 2023 will be our first year of operation and we’re excited to host campers on the property and provide a unique camping experience.
The campground is spread out over 5 acres of forest that you’ll hike into from Bresette Hill Road. After parking at the trailhead, you’ll gather your bags and hike into your glamping site. The trail winds through the woods, leading you first to a valley where the seasonal Clark Creek runs through in the spring. The first two campsites are on the other side of this valley. The trail can be steep in spots and requires a moderate level of fitness and mobility to reach the secluded campsites. The third site is a bit farther into the forest, the little A-frame cabin, Anchor sits on the edge of the spring-fed Brickyard Creek that flows year-round.
We have many plans for the property and depending on when you stay, the campground will be in various stages of development. The campsites, trailhead / parking area, and trails are scheduled to be completed in early spring. We hope to add amenities such as a camp sauna and screened-in gazebo later in the 2024 summer / fall. Balsam site is a little bit of a hike. It was worth it for us to be right by Lake Superior and the beach. Having the main lodge available to you with hot showers and flush toilets is very nice. Site was really nice. We got our 6p north face down nice and level. It felt really private and the only vehicles we heard at night was planes.
Had a really good time and will go back. Only thing that would have made it better would have been a pit bathroom at the site or closer.

This place is just spectacular. It was our second time and we enjoyed it even more this time around! I love how secluded and alone we felt the whole time, having that big beach to ourselves was incredible. Beautiful and nostalgic stay at Camp Amnicon. The campsites are a bit of a walk in, but it's worth it for the seclusion and peace. The lakeshore is lovely (walk to the west to find some red clay!) and the camp itself had everything we needed. Excellent retreat not too far from the cities.

I loved camping in the Balsam camp site, it is right on the lake trail and far from people as well. At night you can hear the waves from the shoreline and we had no frights of bears or porcupines. The walk in is about half a mile so be prepared for a little trek with all your gear. This campsite had no bear box so we had to hang up our food in the tree overnights. Amazing star gazing on the shore. The showers were clean, the bathrooms were clean, it was an overall great experience :) Will be coming back!

Had an amazing time camping here! The host was super accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. The price was really good too! The site was clean and well-maintained, and the surroundings were beautiful. Highly recommend for a relaxing camping trip.

My son and I had a great 2 night stay. River was beautiful to canoe in. The sound of the lake was so nice while sleeping. Only downside was our tent was definitely on the water resistant side. Not so water proof. :) that’s more of an us thing. Recommend the location!

We absolutely loved this site. The outdoor shower was a highlight—peaceful, refreshing, and a perfect way to enjoy the natural setting. The campfire being right next to the tent made evenings feel extra special. The tent itself was spacious and thoughtfully set up, with a super comfy bed that made for great sleep. The structure around the tent—including the decking underneath and the metal roof—really added to our sense of safety and comfort, especially when a gnarly storm rolled through. Everything held up beautifully, and we felt secure and dry the whole time.
Abe was awesome to work with! We had one site booked for a night and another for two nights, and he made the transition between them incredibly easy. He also checked in on us after a storm passed through and stayed responsive via the app whenever we had questions. You can tell he really cares about making sure campers have a good experience. Would absolutely recommend this spot to anyone looking to disconnect and enjoy some true quiet time in nature!
