This unique riverside retreat is located on the shores of the Plover River, on a dam remnant behind a former working mill. Campers will enjoy a park-like atmosphere with numerous benches, stone fire pits, and hidden trails among riverside, grassy, and forested areas. It's an ideal location to fish, kayak, or enjoy a 20-minute float from the dam to the Sharonwood bridge. The campground host offers guided kayak tours and/or shuttle services along the Big Plover River for an additional fee. The Old Red Mill Oasis is located on County Highway Y, 1.5 miles north of Jordan County Park and Jordan Pond, within 5 miles of the city of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, which offers numerous recreational opportunities. Whether it’s hitting the Atv/Utv trails, fishing, hiking, swimming, or just absorbing the peace Whispering Woods brings you access to it all! Located on a dead end road near Maiden Lake, Whispering Woods is private and secluded. Whispering Woods has a beautiful crystal clear creek flowing through it that leads to a private no motor lake. Enjoy fishing for panfish right off the pier or use the paddle boat provided to meander down the creek and catch rock bass. The lake is known for panfish, bass, walleye, and northern. The crystal clear water in both the lake and the creek make for beautiful paddling as you watch the fish swim right underneath you and observe the turtles. Please be respectful of the nesting loon platforms and other lake owners. Please do not use their floating rafts. Enjoy the numerous surrounding lakes such as Chute Pond, Maiden Lake, Boot Lake, Townsend Flowage and more! Bagley Rapids is minutes away. Located near Townsend, Mountain and Lakewood which provide multiple dining options, bait shops, gas stations, and more. Please be respectful of this land. Please do not tamper with the campers or shed. Please feel free to use any wood you find already down in the woods or take from the numerous stick piles found near the campsites. Please do not use the cut firewood. The wood in the stick piles has been stacked for your use and is good dry wood that will provide you with hot fires. We do not even use the cut wood in the summer, spring, or fall. My young children and I have worked hard to clear those sites and cut wood for our own personal use in the winter so please respect the effort we have put in so we can continue to enjoy our land and share this beautiful location with others. There is no electric or water so please plan your trip accordingly. Please leave no trace and carry out what you bring in. There are no toilets available so you will need to provide your own portable toilet. Peeing on a tree is fine, but no pooping in holes. If you chose to drive down to the campsite by the creek you are doing so at your own risk as vehicles have gotten stuck trying to get back up especially after a rain fall and had to get towed out. It is recommended you park up on top and walk the short distance down. ATV/UTV are fine going down to the creek campsite. The long driveway has plenty of room for multiple vehicles, trailers, and boats. Absolutely no hunting or shooting of guns is allowed on the property. Bears have been seen on the property so please use bear safe camping practices. If your children use the ninja line or hammocks on site they do so at their own risk and we are not held liable for any injuries that may occur. You may notice a zip line. The seat will be removed and is not to be tampered with or used. Quiet time is between 10pm-6am. No illegal activity (including fireworks) are allowed. You may see us up there but we will respect your privacy and space. We welcome company and conversation but also respect you may prefer to be left alone. The Old Red Mill Oasis is heaven on earth in Central Wisconsin! The whole property along the Big Plover River has been carefully curated, with gazing benches showcasing meditative views. I loved to listen to the rush of the river at the Red Mill, and walk the manicured trails. My doodle dog Yummy is in absolute bliss on the land! The mushroom hunting was sublime in the prime! Michael is such a gracious host and wants to make your experience a memory to last forever. The kayaking is supreme, with a few different options. It's a treat when the heron leads you back to camp. Thank you, Michael!

We had a wonderful stay at this Hipcamp site! It was so close to so many great activities and restaurants! The site was very clean and the startup firewood they left for free was very nice since we didn't get in until late. It was also nice to be able to purchase more on site! The site does sit close to the road, so we were a little concerned about our dogs, but we were able to park to block off some of the view and we didn't have any issues. Lori was super nice to work with and was thankfully close by to help us jump start our vehicle on the last day! lol (never fails) We rented a boat from Popps Marina (super affordable and friendly people) and we ate dinner at Rene's Supper Club. We are already trying to plan a trip back to the area!

If you are in a camper this is an open area overlooking the rapids that is used for this site.

It is a gorgeous mix of wild wonder and gentle landscaping. Michael is a wonderful host. He did all he could to make our stay as memorable as possible. I cannot recommend his little paradise more.

Had the honor of being the first visitors to this HipCamp! Michael was a great host and very open to feedback on how he can make the place even better for his guests. He has lots of ideas and is very excited to share this special place with others. The entire property is gorgeous and you can tell he has put a lot of effort into it. My dogs loved the easy access to the water and sniffing around the trails. The HipCamp is right on the Plover River. Occasionally kayakers and canoes will pass by. The water is fairly shallow through there, so it was great for the dogs to play and for us humans to wade in. There are areas that get deeper as well and a place by the rapids you can sit and have the water rush around you like a whirlpool. Tubes and kayaks are also available to take on the river. We did a bit of floating down the river on the tubes! Nice spacing between the sites. There is a central area between the sites with some games such as giant Jenga and disc golf. Firewood available to purchase onsite as well for a great price. The host, Michael, also has a small camper in this area but did not stay onsite, just came by to check on things and make sure we had everything we needed. Forgot to bring our tripod for cooking over the fire and he magically made one appear! Can’t wait to see what else Michael has in store for the property. Will definitely be back again! Thank you for an amazing weekend!

Exactly as advertised - super responsive and helpful host. Full hookups for the camper-trailer were really convenient and easily accessible. Private space with bonfires at night was a treat and being right down the road from the state park made for plenty of fun daytime activities.

It was peaceful, even though you heard road noise. It truly was peaceful. Loved the location, close to everything, we went atving and trails were just down road. The property was very well maintained, nicely set up. We will definitely be back many times. Not sure I want to recommend it because I would like to keep our little secret, but it was wonderful.
