The mornings sunrise and the stars out here on a clear night are two of the best things this mountain has to offer. It will not disappoint. We can accommodate up to a 35ft RV. The best part is no long walks, you can park at the campsites and camp on flat ground. Each campsite features chairs, a bench, a swing and a camp cooktop that is fueled by your campfire. Bluestone Camp & Retreat is a Presbyterian Summer Camp Program with organized summer youth and family camp activities over 4 weeks in June and July, and a three-season Retreat Destination for a variety of church, non-profit, and family groups April through November. We are a ministry of the Presbytery of West Virginia (PCUSA) serving member congregations as well as many other church and non-profit organizations. Bluestone has been in operation since 1953. Our Mission is to provide experiences that are character building in nature through Summer Camping Programs and other programmatic events for children, youth, and adults; and to provide opportunities for recreation, rest, and renewal through the use of our facilities as a Center of Christian Hospitality. We have five camp sites that overlook the Bluestone Lake Reservoir.  Each is a clearly defined 60' x 20' space along one side of a level grass field, and each is equipped with a 50/30/20 amp electric pedestal, water spigot, sewer drop, picnic table, and an above ground steel campfire pit. There is also a shower house available for Hipcampers to use.   We have two price points: 1. Our Regular Price per night is $40 based on double occupancy. Each additional person (ages 12 and older, max = 6 people per site) is $10. 2. Our price increases to $55 per night for the months of June and July which is our high season. Each additional person (ages 12 and older, max = 6 people per site) is $10. Youth and Children ages 11 and younger are free, so keep that in mind when you select the number of guests in your party!

What makes W.T. Farm special is the diversity of textures of the landscape. We have great mountain top views, as well as, a deep holler with cliffs, rock outcroppings, and waterfalls. The fields are full of fruit and nut trees and there are 5 ponds. Each of these supports its own flora and fauna. I acquired stewardship of this land years ago and have developed perennial orchards wherever possible. I started with pears and have branched out into pawpaws, apples, persimmons, currants, black walnuts etc. and I boast that I planted the first commercial hickory oil orchard in the world. I am an eccentric horticulturalist and graft cultivar varieties onto existing trees like oaks, hickories, black walnuts, and even the maligned invasive honeysuckle, autumn olive and multiflora rose. Just last year I bought an adjoining farm that opened up 50 acres of more orchard planting. It is on top of the mountain and offers an expansive view of the valley and ridge system that defines our region. Funny thing is that because the land between the old farm and the new farm is divided by cliffs in the holler the only way to get from one to the other is a 12 minute drive or vigorous hiking. On this new land is a historic log cabin I am renovating that is said to be one of the original settler's cabin on the mountain. Because of the amount of tree fruit I grow and the varied landscape, there is a rich diversity of birds and animals to be seen. One of my favorite walks is along the cliffs to the top waterfall where there is a sweet wading pool. I have also built a number of ponds and four of them are quite swimmable. One has a dock and is where we spend much summer time refreshing and frolicking. The farm is also a small (very small) licensed farm winery and we make and sell traditional hard cider from our apples and pears. Our cider can be purchased along with our nut oils and flours and other farm produce you may not be familiar with. We live to eat. Coming here is a gastronomical adventure! I run the Acornucopia project from here and from it we are developing a foragers network that would very much suit the lifestyle of hipcampers. We pay foragers for wild nuts they gather. Camping at Possum Holler Camp will provide you the perfect blend of solitude and recreation access. You will truly be in the heart of the New River National Park, yet still feel secluded in the beautiful woods without neighbors. You will have private access to beautiful and idyllic Mill Creek, which has many beautiful emerald pools and is even seasonally stocked with rainbow trout! Within a mile you can access the New River Gorge Bridge and the Canyon Rim Visitor Center, and you are equally close to the park's world class climbing, rafting, hiking, ziplining, and mountain biking at the New River Gorge National Park and surrounding areas. Your group will have the entire camp to yourselves, so there's no need to worry about noisy neighbors. Our driveway has recently been revamped to include more flat parking and a less steep access route! While these improvements are great, we still caution our guests to avoid bringing large trailers and to use 4WD if available in an attempt to minimize rutting in the future. Seasoned hardwood firewood is available on site for $6/bundle. You are allowed to bring your own firewood, but only if you source your firewood locally because invasive pest species can travel in firewood. Possum Holler Camp is a Leave No Trace campsite, guests are asked to pack out anything they bring in and leave the area undisturbed. This includes damaging vegetation, creating new fire rings, or altering the natural area in any way. Also, please do not camp in the meadow area and only use the cleared out areas in the woods surrounding the parking and picnic/fire area for pitching tents. If you stay below the high water line, then feel free to move as far up or downstream Mill Creek as you like. The creek is indescribably beautiful in both directions! But please keep in mind that there is private property once you are above the high water line, please do not trespass on our neighbor's property.

This spot is very idyllic - calm river, large beautiful trees. It was perfect for quiet relaxing and reading by the river. I loved the dock and spent most of my time there. I'd highly recommend it and really hope that I can make it back in the near future. Very grateful that they are willing to share that slice of heaven with others!

This is one of my favorite spots on the farm to just sit. It is lovely to see and listen to the sparkling water. Ive deliberately kept it minimally primitive. Barely distinguishable, is a small flat spot for a two man tent here perched above the run. Can you see it?

Bill’s land is extraordinary. Super peaceful and beautiful. Bill was very welcoming and very helpful and nice. If I had any complaints it would be that the flat area that is cleared for a tent to set up is a little small, we were sleeping at an angle. More suitable for a 3-4 person tent. But overall we had an amazing time and would definitely come back!

We drove our rented Class C RV to Brian’s place and it was heaven! Best Hipcamp spot yet. There was an intense (and amazing) thunderstorm that night and we were concerned the ground might get soft so we drove up to the house for the rest of the night. In the morning ended up we would have been fine staying where we were. Brian was helpful on options for driving back down the mountain. This place is the best!

100 acre woods is beautiful, peaceful, and spacious. Our host, David, always has the site sparkling clean with fresh water and so many amenities to make the trip comfortable and fun. I love that I can bring my dogs and have miles of trails to wander.

Weekend Trip to Camp The New River, Blacksburg, VA

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our time here! The area was nice and quiet and out of the way. Camping on the New River was about as relaxing as you could get. The hosts are very nice as well. We even were able to see a couple of otters running on the lad back into the water. Highly recommend this spot for a quiet getaway!

Absolutely beautiful place to camp! We were the only ones here and it was pure solitude on the top of a beautiful hill with views for miles. The camp hosts were communicative and made sure our stay was comfortable. They have the sweetest dogs who would visit from time to time as well!

Upon arrival I meet with the owner in the bike shop and was able to fix my issue quickly. Set up camp in the field and watched the meteor shower!! Great spot! A+ Service and Correspondence. I’m telling my friends!

Very private and peaceful! We stayed at Hidden Valley campsite. The stars were beautiful. The campsite was super clean and Brian was very friendly. Word to RV campers, the hills on Brian’s property were steep, 4wd is a must, but the biggest concern for trailers would be the roads getting up the mountain from town. Incredibly steep and lots of tight switch backs. We have a Tacoma with a 17ft Casita and anything much bigger would struggle up there. Just a warning if you have a big camper rig. Sometimes the best spots are the hardest to reach! Totally worth it.

This was a perfect quick stop for the night. The host was so friendly and accommodating. They are still doing things to improve the camp but we used the tent platform and though it rained we were quite dry!

What a wonderful spacious and quiet serene spot! David was extremely accommodating and friendly, and even took me on an ATV tour of the 100+ acre property. Great on so many levels. Lots of wilderness to explore and close to the highway yet not bombarded with traffic noise- great balance between seclusion and closeness to transit. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Dry Valley Camping Spot

Beautiful spot. Great communication from the hosts. Didn’t spend much time there since we left every day for softball games at Radford. Only three sites so didn’t have to worry about any other campers etc. going back in two weeks for college graduation.
