My father was born and died in this house, and I was raised here also. After teaching for 32 years my husband and I inherited the farm from my folks who have since passed. There are no orchards left on the property but we are moving on with a vegetable and flower garden, goats, chickens and a llama. This is for the adventurous Hipcamper that appreciates the bumpy dirt road. Your Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla won't get you here. Cell service is limited. It is not recommended to arrive after sunset But it is so worth it. Come relax and enjoy the views of the Columbia River and the North Cascades. Plenty of sunshine with epic sunsets, our property is where you come to unwind and soak in the sun when the west side of the Cascades is socked in with clouds and rain. If you want to explore the area, it's about a 10-minute car ride to the Columbia River and 20 minutes to Chelan and all that is offered there. Our favorite activities when we visit are to listen to the birds chirp and take in the surroundings. There are several lava rock piles that speak to the long and volcanic geological history of the area. We also really enjoy walking the dirt road on the ridge. It provides some of the most incredible views in the area. The dirt road section over the ridge can be a little rough and dusty and it's recommended that guests have a medium clearance vehicle, such as a Subaru Outback. However, a guest once drove their Honda Civic down to the site, so it really depends on your comfort level. If in doubt, just ask! We have a security camera on site we use for wildlife sightings and to check the weather. If the idea of having the camera bothers you, feel free to place a blanket or some other type of cover during your stay. We can also turn the camera to only face the entrance. Just let us know. Please respect the surroundings and others' property. There are several other vacation cabins in the area and everyone enjoys their peace and quiet. We provide a privy for guests to use, but be prepared to pack out waste in case it doesn't meet your standards. We loved staying at the vineyard! Kim was a wonderful host and everything was as stated in the posting (and I have never seen a cleaner portapottie!). We especially enjoyed the covered patio with the propane fire pit - it was a great place to hang out and look at the lights across the valley and even the snowmaking up at Mission Ridge. 10/10 and we’ll definitely be staying here again.

This is a lovely spot with the view of the canyons and vineyard. We chose site 4 as it was more remote than the sites with electrical that are closer to the road. So we had no services but the ports potty was clean and convenient. You really feel like you are in the middle of nowhere in cool off the grid way yet its not hard to get to and Renee was so kind with a wine tasting and telling us about his organic wines. Very fun!

Weekend Trip to Cheval Cellars BnB Camping

Lovely spot to camp. Great view and with it being late September was able to enjoy the lovely smells coming from the Orchard. We had a slightly anxious dog who does not do well with other people or animals so it was a perfect spot for her to enjoy her first camping trip. A small picnic table is provided and we brought an extra 6 foot table which helped with placing all our food items and portable grill. Convenient spot for local wineries and to access Lake Chelan. Hope to return soon.

Great location with stunning views. It's definitely up there, and the road initially feels a little sketchy, but don't let that scare you. I was easily able to tow a 30ft trailer up no problem, and Chris came right out to assist and asked if I needed anything! Being so high, be prepared for wind, but if you get a night with no wind, the sunset views are amazing! I would definitely stay at these sites again!

Renato’s spot is fantastic for a group! We had the whole space to ourselves and he was a wonderful host. You can’t miss wine tasting and hearing about the property Renato has built. The views were also incredible and worth the drive from Seattle.

Weekend Trip to The Lakes

Awesome spot! Really quiet and spacious. We had a minor issue when we arrived but Mariah responded to my message and had it taken care of promptly. We brought our own toilet set-up and my friend was kindly informed by staff that the tasting room bathroom isn’t encouraged for campers. There is an outhouse nearby though. Willow Point is a great place to go for a swim in Lake Chelan and is a 9 min drive from the site.

Weekend Trip to Elevate Vineyards

Elevate vineyards was such a unique experience for tent camping. Stunning views of Lake Chelan, you get a sunrise view over the mountains and a sunset view over the lake. Remote enough but also not a far drive to the lake. Mike is a welcoming host. The drive up is a couple miles of unpaved road but not too difficult to navigate.

Where to go

Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest

Just east of Wenatchee, the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest offers alpine lakes, dense forests, and plenty of campgrounds and backcountry camping options. The forest extends all the way up to Canada, and borders the expansive North Cascades National Park to the northeast.

Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest

Running alongside the western side of the Cascade Mountains, Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest is the most visited national forest in the country. It boasts an extensive network of rivers and offers ample opportunities for winter sports. Almost half of the forest is designated wilderness area, and is inaccessible by motorized vehicle, but there are plenty of developed campsites for those who aren't up for backpacking.

Southeast Washington Wine Country

You’ll find some of Washington's most celebrated wine-growing areas just south of town, and the Wenatchee itself is right in the heart of the Columbia Valley AVA. The highest concentration of wineries and vineyards are found in and around Walla Walla, Yakima, and the Tri-Cities of Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland.

When to go

Wenatchee is at its most pleasant in July and August, when the weather is warm and generally dry. This is the best (and busiest) time for camping in the region, though the weather is generally favorable well into September. Winter is also worth considering if you're fond of outdoor snow sports, and December, in particular, draws visitors looking to take advantage of the festive cheer at the nearby Bavarian-inspired town of Leavenworth.
