At 180 acres Glendale Farm in Chimacum, in operation since 1857, is one of the largest single agricultural properties remaining in Jefferson County. The farm includes prime agricultural soils, over half a mile of East Chimacum Creek, and forested areas. The easement protects a buffer zone for salmon and wildlife habitat along the east fork of Chimacum Creek and protects the agricultural and forestry values of the property forever. Jefferson Land Trust and collaborative partners purchased the easement to Insure Glendale farm maintains agricultural practices and wildlife habitat forever! Please be aware this is a working farm with poultry, livestock, and the use of farm equipment providing a great experience for farm life. Glendale farm experienced a devestating loss in 2022, the primary residence burned down, and since then has been going through an extensive cleanup from an extreme hoarding situation. We recommend using shoes at all times as we are still in the process of combing the grounds for glass and possible sharp objects. You can expect to see old farm equipment, some derelict Rvs, and material debris which we are raising funds to remove. Please be patient with us as we continue to improve the site with future showers, a comunal kitchen, and improved landscaping. 2 acres of serenity. An opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. We are a small hobby farm. We offer two different Glamping sites... a Yurt and a tent capsite. Your private getaway is secluded from the rest of the farm life but you are welcome to visit and partake in whatever the farm offers. We have Nigerian dwarf goats, apples, pears, plums, blackberries & Iris to enjoy. Wild animals abound. There are walking/biking trails right around the corner and you are 15 minutes from downtown, the ocean and enjoying sports like kayaking, swimming, whale watching, etc. Our glamping sites are completely off grid. Enjoy simplicity in comfortable luxury! We are dog friendly, and we require all guests to clean up after their dogs. There are plastic bags provided for animal waste disposal when dogs are in the backyard and on neighborhood walks. Cleaning up after pets includes excess pet hair, especially on furniture. Please use the waterproof pet blanket provided for the sofa and bed. Guests bring the animal onto the property at their own risk. The booking guest is liable for any damages that pets cause. (We will have to charge a cleaning fee if your dog leaves behind a mess or causes damage.) We find that most people are cooperative and responsible with their pets. We love traveling with our fur babies, and would like to keep allowing pets in our listings. Thank you for being understanding and working with us to keep our rental available to pets! Rules for dogs: 1. We do NOT have a fenced yard or space. If you have a dog that will wander, we require you to keep your dog on a leash or a lead. 2. We live in a country neighborhood and being good neighbors is very important to us. Excessive barking, making noise or being a nuisance to our neighbors is not allowed. 3. Clean up after your dog in the rental, around the rental and anywhere you take your dog in the neighborhood.

We had a fantastic stay here. The host was very accommodating, and the site itself was quiet, peaceful, and well maintained. The tent is spacious, easily large enough for two people, and in excellent condition. It’s set on a flat raised platform, which made sleeping comfortable, and the cots were sturdy and supportive. The area around the tent is nicely kept, so it feels both open and tidy. Since we were cycling, the location was ideal — just a short ride along the Olympic Discovery Trail back into Port Angeles. Having clean potable water on site was a big plus, and strong cell service made it easy to stay connected. This is an excellent base camp, whether you’re biking the trail or using it as a convenient jumping-off point for exploring Port Angeles and the Olympic Peninsula. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a practical, comfortable place to stay.

The yurt was so cozy and the area was secluded which made it easy to relax. The amenities such as a solar shower, grill and compostable toilet area with a pump sink is perfect for those who are not so comfortable with tent camping. The yurt is on the smaller side but it was enough room for my partner, myself and our pups! We enjoyed coming back to this area after exploring Bellingham and going for a swim at the nearby lakes. The directions were clear and we would definitely stay again :)

My husband and I stayed for a weekend while in town for a wedding. After all the festivities, it was a wonderful spot to relax in and was so peaceful and quiet. The cutest little cabin and great spot to get away! The bathroom which is a portapotty was super clean and was freshly done when we arrived! The stars at night are to die for. I highly recommend this spot to anyone who was a peaceful weekend away.

We had an amazing stay at Shaums' place as part of a mountain bike weekend in Bellingham! The A frame was such a fun way to upgrade our usual camping experience. It's basically like a wooden tent with a porch and hammock -- so cool! We brought an air mattress and made dinner over the campfire with things we found at the farmers market that morning. Shaums was an amazing host, communicative, incredibly hospitable, and even suggested the best sunset watching spot 🤩 would definitely stay here again!

We really enjoyed our stay at the yurt. It was very cozy and the perfect size for two people. Felt secluded while still being very close to attractions in Bellingham. Joshua provided helpful instructions prior to our arrival, and was very responsive when we had an issue with the propane heater during our stay. (if planning to stay here in the winter, know that the yurt will still be quite cold even with the heater, so come prepared with extra layers and blankets!)

Where to go

Orcas Island

Orcas Island is the biggest island in the San Juans, and has plenty of amenities, including restaurants, museums, shops, and camping options. It’s also home to the largest of Washington’s state parks—Moran State Park—a fantastic place for hiking, and boating. Tent and RV camping is available in the park, but campers need to secure reservations ahead of time. If you have your own boat, you can also visit nearby Sucia Island Marine State Park, an uninhabited, pristine spot directly north of Orcas Island.

San Juan Island

San Juan Island is popular among adventurers and history lovers, and the San Juan Island National Historical Park is a must-visit for anyone who wants to learn about the Pig War, a boundary dispute between Britain and the U.S. that all started because of a trespassing pig. The park is for day use only, but you'll find tent and RV sites at San Juan County Park on the west side of San Juan Island, overlooking Haro Straight, and at the San Juan County Fairgrounds.

Lopez Island

The third-most populated island in the chain, Lopez Island offers 63 miles of shoreline and a mix of forests, farmlands, galleries, and boutiques. The island is popular among cyclists, with quiet, mostly flat roads, and has a few great places to camp, including Spencer Spit State Park, which has reservable and hiker/biker sites, a dump station, flush toilets, but no hookups or showers, and Odlin County Park has seven RV sites for vehicles less than 30-feet-long, but no hookups.

Shaw Island

Shaw Island is the smallest of the four main San Juan Islands that are accessible by ferry, with a year-round population of only around 200 people. You can camp at Shaw County Park, which offers 11 tent camping sites, a boat launch, picnic tables, and fire pits. Island facilities are limited, but there is a general store by the ferry landing where you can buy food and supplies.
