Oceans Edge Eagle Retreat

For a first attempt at camping, it was actually a great experience. The kids thoroughly enjoyed their time as it offered something different than being in the city. We didn't go with the expectation of full privacy, so seeing other tents in close proximity didn't matter much. I loved the chic designs all around and how outdoorsy the showers were. My only damper was the portable potty. On our first day, they were extremely clean, but on check-out day, you could smell it from afar. Probably because it was the weekend. Otherwise, everything else was great. I'd definitely recommend it.

The grounds was pretty beautiful. Lots of little statues. You could tell the hosts and maintenance crew care about it. Tenting was a pretty solid experience, which is great as we were a bit worried with the focus primarily being on glamping that tenting would be an afterthought. But a chill and relaxing time was had. Seemed very family oriented and family friendly.

Beautiful piece of property.

This is a very nice open concept property. Shawn and Shawna were super friendly staff that were welcoming. My fridge had an issue with propane and they ran an extension to my van so I had power, which wasn’t part of my camping amenities for an RV, Thanks guys. Tina was always responsive positive ti add by questions. I read some reviews that complained about the portable toilets, but I thank Tina for supplying these for my use when needed. I’ll return next time I’m in the area.

It was cute. Worth the cost. A bit rustic, which was expected, and for the price-point, delivered for value. Check-in was weird. We couldn't locate the host, and were told by someone on the property that we were just supposed to set up in the tent that we had booked, with nothing further required. We didnt see anyone the whole time we were there, and left without checking-out or needing to do anything further. This was all totally fine with us, and was kind of nice to be left to our own devises, but it felt a little weird (like we were trespassing or something). IF we had been provided instructions that this was how things were run, it would have been excellent experience. More information would have been nice, but overall, we did like our stay. The beds were a bit damp, but again, not a surprise for the type of tent we were staying in and the weather that we were having. It was perfectly comfortable, for rustic, airy, canvas tents. We will use this facility again, and now that we know what to expect, will be comfortable and ease in to the experience.

Our first stop during our trip on the Vancouver Island. We loved the site. People were super nice with us. The vibe there is special . If you are going to take the ferrie at tsawwassen , this is the spot you need !!

Not Glamping

As a person that prefers glamping to camping, I can say this is NOT glamping. I have a new appreciation for my tent. Despite our lovely hosts best efforts to find accommodations our family felt were acceptable, we could not bring ourselves to stay the night. The tents are not weather or bug proof at all and it was very damp inside. The first tent we were shown had a huge burn hole in the side from the wood stove. Someone had rolled a metal serving tray over in an unsuccessful attempt to cover it. The second tent had rips and mold in the bottom allowing water to flood into the tent. Finally, we were offered a little cabin which was a huge step up - water proof and bug proof! However, upon closer inspection we found significant staining on the bed sheets, including one disturbing brown stain. When we asked for new sheets we were given a kind apology and a set of less stained and cleaner smelling ones. Just as we were about to suck it up and change the bed anyway, our daughter slipped on the narrow ladder leading to the loft (which was placed absurdly close to the door). We cut our losses and left with one bleeding & bruised leg, some mosquito mosquitos bites and an expensive lesson. Next time we will do our research first! This place could be really cool with some significant investment and regular cleaning and maintenance. Neat idea, poor execution.

The host was incredibly rude, the mosquitos were intense, and the porta-potties are dirty and smelly with no hand sanitizer. When we arrived at the campsite, it was 10 pm so it was dark. We were told to park in front of a long black shed. When we got there - there was 3 different black sheds we could see with a variety of black fences and absolutely no signage on where we were supposed to park as RV Overnight camping. I messaged the host to ask if we were in the right spot because it didn’t feel like we were - we were right behind the house. As we were backing out of the spot, my husband was trying to navigate our Scout camper on our F350 and there’s a bunch of big branchy trees. I had told him to stop and reposition so we wouldn’t hit the tree and just as he was about to reposition, we heard a small voice in the distance say “there’s a tree there you know…” and it was the host scolding us for being too close to the tree. She then proceeded to say our spot was just “over there” and she reiterated that she had already told us it was in front of the black shed. I told her it’s dark, I can’t see anything and there are like 3 structures here that look sort of like a black shed and walked away. We got eaten by mosquitoes after that so yeah, not a great experience and especially not for the price. Plus gross toilets with no hand sanitizer and so dirty. PS. The actual black shed we were supposed to park in front of we didn’t actually see at all until the morning.

Ocean edge nature sanctuary!

Awesome location! We really enjoyed our stay. Neat location. The property itself is great with tons of space, beaches nearby and nice scenery. The outdoor showers are really nice and fun. There are bald eagle nests in their trees which is neat. Nice walking boardwalk out into the shore edge though the water is much further out. We camped in our campervan and it was simple to pull in and fin our spot. The host and her assistant were very nice and helpful. They even gave our boys some toy soccer balls since they knew we were in town for the World Cup! Would definitely stay there again without hesitation. Since it is so green and natural there are some mosquitos but our Thermacell kept them away from us and we had a blast! This property would be perfect for a retreat or getaway weekend with a larger group. Huge cooking area and firepit. You can be social if you want or go find your own area, both are possible. Beaches and covenience stores nearby make this property a no brainer. Thanks and we’ll be back!

This was such a great experience. The camping area is very spacious and clean. There’s a beautiful eagle’s nest right above us and you could see them flying around in the morning which was incredible. Outdoor shower with hot water was also great. I camped in a bunch of provincial parks leading up to this and it was certainly one of my better experiences on my trip. Sean and Shauna were extremely helpful and friendly. As the instructions mention, don’t forget your bug spray!

We didn’t necessarily have a bad experience but we were the only ones there and were staying in our own camper for a single night and it was pricy for what we needed. I’ll note that I never got a reply from the one question I sent to Tina when we arrived. Notes re glamping - the tents looked well appointed, tho I didn’t go in any of them. I noticed there was no way to lock them - no padlocks or anything. The outdoor kitchen was well equipped. There was only one very small propane bottle on one of the cookers. I don’t know what you’d do if it ran out and you can’t reach anyone. The showers looked clean and functional. The toilets were a different story. There are only 2 not particularly inviting port-a-potties. The numerous tents sleep probably 2-8 depending on size, so 2 potties and 3 showers may not be adequate if very many people are staying. The tents are pretty close together so I could see booking a group, but probably not a romantic getaway. We didn’t have bug problems - early in the season and still cool out and a breeze - but this place is right across the street from a wetland so I can see bugs and smells getting bad in the summer. As other reviews have stated, this is someone’s yard. It’s a good sized yard, but it’s like camping in your own backyard, except then you’d have access to a clean flusher. There is a nice little trail across the street that goes out on a boardwalk over the wetlands and there are shops within easy walking or biking distance.

10/10 gorgeous camp site

What a fantastic camp site! We were instantly greeted with friendly smiles and a beautifully set up camp. We brought our own tent and could pitch it wherever we fancied. The facilities are fantastic, the shower and toilets were very clean. We only did one night but would have definitely made use of the gorgeous bar in the garden if we had longer! Will definitely be booking again with a group of friends in the teepees! There’s an eagles nest in the tree in the garden as well which, if you haven’t seen one before is quite a spectacle!

Very lovely experience! I was able to come in later, the tent was clean and was able to have a great sleep. The kitchen space was cute and had no issues. Tina made the experience amazing and went above and beyond when I lost an item to be able help me get it back. Would recommend

Amazing Family Glamping Experience

We had a wonderful stay at Oceans Edge Eagle Retreat! We were lucky to arrive right after the rain, and the weather turned beautiful. Our family had an amazing time enjoying nature and the whole glamping experience. The site was very clean and well maintained. One thing we really appreciated was that there were almost no flies or mosquitoes, which made our stay much more comfortable. The facilities were excellent. The kitchen was well equipped, there was hot water available, and the washrooms were very clean. Firewood was provided, which was a nice bonus. If you plan to have a campfire for a longer time, I would recommend bringing or ordering some extra wood. The host also offers additional firewood for purchase, which was very convenient. Overall, this was a memorable experience for our family. Everything was thoughtfully prepared, and we could tell a lot of care went into maintaining the property. We would definitely love to come back again in the future! Highly recommended for families looking for a comfortable and enjoyable glamping getaway.

Amazing Family Glamping Experience

We had an amazing stay! The site was clean, comfortable, and very well maintained. The kitchen, hot water, and washrooms were all excellent. We especially appreciated how few bugs there were during our stay. The firewood provided was a nice touch, and additional wood was easy to purchase when needed. Our family had a fantastic time, and the beautiful weather after the rain made the experience even more special. We would definitely come back again. Highly recommend! 😊

We feel very misled by this campsite; we dr0ve past it 5 times as it is not marked at all. We stopped because of the gps address and the tents in the ladies yard. When we called she was unfriendly and we chose not to stay. I would not recommend at all.

Cute site

Tina was very kind. They chopped wood for us and made sure we were fully stocked. The site was comfortable and quiet. Beautiful sunset just a short walk away. They had a lot of seating and lots of fire pits. The communal cooking area had quite a bit of cooking equipment including a bbq, a propane stove top, a sink and some cooking utensils. We would definitely come back.
