Since this hut is built with partially screened walls and partial solid walls, you should consider the season when requesting a booking. I will accept bookings starting on 1st but even in May the night time temps can be cold. Checking the local Northport, WA weather forecast can give you an idea of what weather we will be expecting. Please consider this luxurious tent camping as there is no heat source in the hut, no electricity or running water. Please bring lanterns, flashlights, headlamps etc. The futon is a queen size and I can provide sheets and bedding but prefer you bring your own if possible as we have no laundry facilities on the ranch. ***There is a very limited supply of potable water on the property so you are required to pack in your drinking and cooking water. Washing and shower water is provided.*** In the early spring and late fall we cover the screened walls of the hut with clear window plastic so that the nights are not very cold inside the screen house. We provide a propane buddy heater that is safe for indoor use to help keep the space warm for you!! A hot water shower with equally impressive views is close to the straw house but still as private as you need it to be. Once owned by the Lael family (whom the road is named after), this land supported lots of horses in it's past. The Lael family homsteaded this area, raising horses on their acerage and the original Lael house is still standing on the lower section of the property. Old and beautiful apple, plum, cherry and pear trees still thrive in the orchard they planted along with massive willow trees. I'm honored to continue the Lael's love for the equine with my own herd of horses. Horseback riding is available upon request and for an additional fee of $75 per person for a ride.

It is once again a dairy, with a name hearkening to Narnia, the books by C. S. Lewis. It is also, however, now a smallish family sized farm with many other species added to the mix. I raise a rare breed of dairy cow and several breeds of fiber sheep along with heritage pigs. Geese wander freely, along with a few turkeys. If you enjoy animals, there are many kinds of them here and most are friendly! Learn more about this land: First, about my farm name:  My daughter had been reading The Chronicles of Narnia when we befriended and helped an orphaned little fawn, and she immediately named it Trumpkin, after one of the characters in Narnia. This is where her Trumpkin lived and grew up, and so this became Trumpkin's land AKA Trumpkinland Farm.  Over the years a number of deer have come to trust us enough to get relatively close and eat with our animals. Come camp with your tent or self contained RV in our private woods or meadows and enjoy our wild and domestic friends, too, in the beautiful, magical inland northwest!  You can have total privacy, and yet be a short walk from the main farm and a short drive to local natural attractions. There are trails to explore in almost all directions. Some camping sites can be driven to, primarily in the upper meadow, depending on your vehicle. If choosing to be deeper in the woods,  tent camping will work best in most spots, with a carry it in and park either in the meadow or down by the farm proper. Weekend Trip to Hymas Family Farm Stay

We loved our stay at the farm! The tent was private in the woods and we came up to the farm’s shop for fresh ice cream and fresh eggs and also paid extra to help milk a cow haha our daughter loved the cows! The zipper didn’t work on the tent but otherwise everything was so lovely. We used the cook stove and they had some cook supplies in there too which was super nice. Would definitely recommend , I always wanted to try out glamping and the whole family had a lot of fun with it.

Weekend Trip to Riverfront Solitude

This is our second year at Matt and Susan’s place and we plan to return next year again. We love this spot! My sons and I spent the weekend in solitude enjoying good food, board games, and the river! Susan’s fresh cinnamon rolls are the cherry on top of a wonderful experience. We enjoyed swimming and paddle boarding around from the private dock, playing games by lamplight, and watching the wildlife around us. Highly recommend! We’ll be back!

My spouse and I had an amazing time camping at Susan and Matt's. They are extremely kind hearted hosts and have a breathtakingly beautiful property along the Pend Orielle River they take great stewardship of. The camp site is very spacious, private, and well accommoted with amenities. We camp a fair amount and this is the best we've ever stayed at. Very grateful for their wonderful hospitalty and for making our weekend very special!

Weekend Trip to Bearcat acres

Fantastic spot for tent camping! Our site was a beautiful little glen, surrounded by trees, with a babbling brook running at the edge. The ground is flat and mostly level, so it worked well for our 10 person tent. Because of Red Flag conditions, we didn't get to use it, but Warner had a fire pit and wood already at the site. There was a large cable spindle that functioned as a good size table. The site has a little trail that leads back into the woods for a relaxing hike if you want. Warner provides an indoor bathroom and potable water from an artesian well, just yards from the "entrance" to our site. There was even a super friendly cat that would stroll through to say 'Hi' once in awhile. It was a fantastically beautiful and relaxing place to spend a long weekend.

5 nights at Riverfront Solitude

This was our second stay with Susan and Matt, and we loved it so much the first time that we booked another trip just a month later. Without question, this is the most special campsite we’ve ever experienced. The location is incredible—right on the river, nestled in a serene grove of cedar and larch. There’s a unique and calming energy in the trees that makes the whole place feel magical. The river was the perfect temperature, and we spent hours swimming, lounging on the dock, watching eagles hunt, and soaking in the breathtaking sunsets. At night, the sky comes alive with stars, completely free from city lights. Susan and Matt are the ideal hosts—respectful of privacy, yet always just a text away if you need anything. Staying here feels like coming home, and we can’t wait to return again.

4 nights at Riverfront Solitude

This is, without question, our new favorite campsite—we loved it so much we booked our next stay before we even left! Susan and Matt are exceptional hosts. They welcomed us with a tour and let us know we’d have as much privacy as we wanted. They always texted before stopping by, usually to drop off some of Susan’s incredible baked goods. We highly recommend the optional Forest Therapy session with Matt—a guided, meditative walk that invites you to slow down and deeply connect with the land. It was a highlight of our stay. The property, in Matt’s family for over 60 years, is lovingly cared for. The campsite is tucked beside a peaceful river and feels wonderfully secluded. There’s a tent platform with nearby parking, a well-maintained composting toilet with nighttime path lights, and an Aussie-style outdoor shower. Hammocks hang easily in the shaded trees. A short path leads to a picnic table, fire ring, and then down to a dock where a canoe is moored. We swam daily—the river is deep and slow-moving. Wildlife sightings included deer, bald eagles, osprey, and even an otter and beaver! This place is all about peace, nature, and reconnection—not a spot for parties. Between the land, the river, and the warm hospitality (and baked goods!), we can't recommend it enough.

This is a very special place. The hosts are delightful and the setting is magical. The camp set up is perfect very private with river access a composing potty. camp shower a fire pit picnic area and a great tent platform. We completed relaxed for 3 nights and would return in a heartbeat. As we hope to soon!

Weekend Trip to Bearcat acres

We had a fantastic time at Bearcat Acres! Warner was warm and welcoming, and the land is just beautiful. We were able to hike all over the property and explore, as well as create a nice home base to hang out in. The glen where we set up was both sunny and shady, and the kids loved roasting marshmallows over the firepit. Warner is still making improvements to the property and you can see how much care he has for the land.

How awesome to find your own camp in the woods and set it up yourself that was an amazing experience being able to play music and not bother other campers my kids played loud and it was great! I can't say enough good things about Susan and Matt's place. They are amazing hosts who go above and beyond to make you experience wonderful. I said in my last review that I couldn't wait to come back, and I meant it! This was my second stay and I'm already planning my third. The only noisy neighbors you'll hear here are the coyotes. Perfect place for a weekend recharge.

This was our very first hipcamp experience, and we loved it so much thanks to the outstanding location, solitude, and amenities in the camp area! Susan and Matt were amazing hosts, welcoming, and full of facts about the area and their beautiful farm. The camp location is ideal for privacy, with everything we needed. 2 nights at Iron Mountain Ranch

We had the best time at Iron Mountain Ranch. Lindsay was so warm and we felt so welcome. The land is beautiful, and the animals are all so friendly. Everything from the screen house, to the outdoor cooking space, to the bathroom exceeded our expectations. We would absolutely recommend staying here!!
