Welcome to Olympic Wanderer! This fairy-tale nature retreat creekside cabin will wow you with its stellar location, lush grounds, hot-tub, and stylish interior. The cabin is nestled in a forested community next the hood canal, famous for its rich waters and shellfish harvesting. This is the perfect base for your adventures on the Olympic Peninsula, and is a great central location close to endless amazing hiking trails, including Olympic NP and multiple state parks less than 10 minutes away.
The highlight of the cabin is the log bridge across the creek! You will feel like you are on an amazing hiking trail or in a fairytale on the rainforest-like grounds with a babbling brook or rushing creek running through it depending on how much rain we have had. Our property is directly across the street from access to the national forest service roads with miles of roads and trails. PLEASE NOTE BEFORE BOOKING: The cabin is older and rustic, and we are renovating it over time. There is a very steep/narrow staircase that excesses the second floor, and the twin bed artea is part of the lofty and is not an enclosed bedroom. The living space and kitchen are open concept, and there is seating for 4 at the dining room table and 2 countertop barstools as well. The adorable farmhouse style kitchen has everything you need to cook meals during your stay, including all cooking essentials and basic spices. We also have pancake mix and quick oats for our guests in case you forgot to bring your own breakfast. If you are lucky enough to stay in late summer, you can walk across the street to pick wild blackberries. The living room has a large TV and a nice selection of DVDs to choose from. We also have Starlink for both internet and streaming services. Cell service can be hit or miss depending on provider. The bathroom is on the lower level, as well as the first bedroom which has a queen bed. The 2nd bedroom opens up with a barn door and also has a queen bed as well as beautiful views of the creek and trees. For this reason it is my favorite bedroom! At the bottom of the stairs is the mud room which is a an enclosed patio and is a great place to store recreational equipment or wet/muddy items. It also allows excess to one of the decks which features outdoor seating and a bbq.

Extra additions such as an Instant Pot, small blender, and popcorn maker are also available.

- An indoor dining space that comfortably seats 6 with leaves that can be added to be able to accommodate 10 people - and 2 additional seats in the kitchen bar area.
- A large outdoor deck with a grill for BBQ, eucalyptus wood table and bench that seats 8 for outdoor entertainment
- Expansive garden surrounded by forest and woodland trails to enjoy alone, in groups, or with your dog(s).
- Outdoor hot-tub with mountain views lit with globe lights for ambience.

- The log home is located on a hill close to the Skykomish River with a view of the mountains.
- There are three towns located nearby.
1. Duvall is my personal favorite and is 20 minutes away to enjoy boutique shops, breweries, lunch spots, great dinner restaurants, ice cream, and a Safeway.
2. Monroe has everything you would need including restaurants, shops, hardware stores, pet stores, antique stores, and grocery stores.
3. Sultan is on the way to Stevens Pass ski resort and is much smaller but has a great bakery!
Nearby activities include hiking, skiing, kayaking, paddle boarding.
All the spots that I would recommend visiting can be found in the Welcome Guide upon your arrival.
Important things to know:
- Staying in this home means you are staying within nature. Deer are regularly around the property, or can be seen in the woods during your drive up. Please be respectful to them. There has been the occasional bear sighting, so please be aware. There is bear spray in the property, but I have only seen a bear twice and have been able to scare it away with a tap on the window! My space is surrounded by woods and forest, and though I treat the exterior to keep out pests, there are all sorts of creatures great and small, including insects and mice, which unfortunately can be a reality of nature for all the homes up on the hill. Please take into consideration that my home may not be a right fit for those who are extremely phobic of these and other wildlife, but for others, it can bring enjoyment.
Please take a look at my house rules to familiarize yourself with the do's and dont's, especially if you will be using this space for a larger entertainment gathering.

Guest access
There is enough space for 3 cars to park at the top of the driveway and next to the log cabin. Any other cars can fit down by the yoga studio and garage, but please note, the driveway is not for the faint of heart - it is steep!
During the winter months you will need a 4-wheel drive to make it to the top of the driveway. When it gets icy, it is not recommend to drive the driveway, but parking at the bottom and walking up through the pasture is what I do to get home!
There is an electronic lockbox for your convenience that will let you into the house with a special code that I will email to you once the property is booked and you are confirmed to be arriving.
Your GPS may take you a slightly different route. I will email instructions on the easiest way to the lodge. There will also be signs to 'Pentoria Lodge' to follow for easier directions.
Other things to note
There are deer, squirrels, rabbits, owls, and other critters that may roam the property as the log home is surrounded by forest and is home to many creatures great and small. Some of the tiny ones may get into the house from time to time. Refunds cannot be granted because of a spider, fly, wasp, mouse, or any woodland critter. I strive to keep the property as thoroughly clean as possible with monthly pest control to mitigate the chances of seeing any creatures in the property and appreciate your full understanding should an insect or critter make a small appearance. Should this happen, please reach out to me asap and I will do anything I can to take care of it and to make your stay a 5 Star experience!

Fjellsangin (fyell-sang-in) is a Nordic-inspired forest retreat on the edge of old-growth wilderness in Ashford, Washington—the gateway to Mount Rainier National Park.
The cabin backs directly onto Nisqually Land Trust protected land, part of the Busy Wild wilderness corridor. With old-growth forest behind you and mountain wilderness all around, it offers the kind of quiet you have to seek out. The property was designed from the ground up with privacy in mind, so once you're here, the outside world stays outside.
Designed with a Mid-Century Modern meets Pacific Northwest aesthetic, Fjellsangin is a place where thoughtful design and raw nature exist side by side. Inside, you'll find a Jøtul gas fireplace, a chef's kitchen with Taj Mahal quartzite countertops, and warm cedar details throughout.
Outside, the forest takes over. Spend your days hiking the trails of Mount Rainier, then return to a cedar-lined sauna, a cedar post hot tub pavilion, and an outdoor shower open to the canopy. When the sun goes down, the firepit lounge is where the evening begins—and on clear nights, the stars are all yours.

We used this cabin as a base for exploring the forests and parks on the Olympic peninsula, and we had a blast. We were able to explore everything we wanted to, and return to a nice cozy and quiet cabin to rest and recover for the next day's dventures. The cabin had everything we needed for relaxing, and the hosts were responsive and had help available if anything small came up. Great place, would rent again if in the area.

We stayed in the Coho Cabins - what a luxury! Clean, upgraded, with every amenity you could think of, including a Nespresso. The park itself felt safe, with a nice spa-like hot tub with water views, great staff, and even games in the community area. Walk across the street to a deck with stunning views (you might even catch a glimpse of a seal) and a fairly quiet beach area. I spent many relaxing mornings on that deck. Only complaint is that the photos of the views from within the cabin are inaccurate - the cabins are stacked right next to each other, so there is no mountain or water view as advertised (just trees or the other cabins). Otherwise, such a nice experience.

Beautiful place to stay! The backyard is so so special and the house itself was very comfortable and cozy. The hosts were great, I had a bit of a special request and they were so kind and flexible! They left some treats for us and even grabbed a little vegan treat for me:) the outdoor tubs were absolutely incredible!! I would absolutely love to stay here again!

It’s a cozy cabin but it’s definitely in the remodel phase so you’ll see some items that need repair or are being actively worked on. However, the outdoor space is amazing and it felt very private.

This is the perfect little cabin base camp to relax between hikes at Mt Rainier! Cabin #2 has a great loft for sleeping and conveniently has a hot tub on the front deck. The cabins are stocked with great amenities like a cast iron, hot plates, and a kettle, plus a fire pit outside. You’re also a quick drive to a couple of solid restaurants.

Weekend Trip to The Village at Rainier
We stayed here last summer and loved it just as much! The location is perfect- very quiet and well kept. Rainier can be so challenging in the summer and staying in Ashford gave us an easy, well rested early start. Seriously- we entered the park a little after 7am and the lot at Paradise was almost full. Getting up on the trails with less crowds and before the heat of the day is a game changer.
We love the cabin and the hot tub. Stay here— you won’t regret it!

This place was fantastic. We came here with some friends and our dogs and it was the perfect getaway. It had a perfect cozy cabin, large outdoor space outback with a creek and fire pit, and an awesome hot tub that kept nice and warm. The deck up top was the perfect place to have brunch and the surrounding area is filled with nice hikes. The only downside is the lack of reliable internet for handheld devices but with the outdoors and perfect streaming we hardly even noticed. Ideal place to keep us and the pets entertained. Would definitely come back and planning to.

The Beaver cabin was adorable, clean, simple and just what we needed! My ten year old was delighted by the loft beds, I loved the swing and the hot tub and fire pit made the place far more than just a place to sleep for the night. We loved our stay! We were in the Raven Cabin, which is tucked towards the back of the property. Every cabin seemed secluded from the next – we stayed overnight two nights and didn't come across any other guests, despite no vacancies. The property itself is kept very nicely, and relaxing in the hot tub pre- and post-hike was splendid. Less than two miles from the park entrance! We're already talking about staying again!

My family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids) stayed ar the Olympic Wanderer in early June 2025. Olympic National Forest has been on our bucket list for WA for the past 2 years of being stationed in WA. It was exactly as I expected! We had a wonderful weekend of tandem kayaking & baby crab exploration in the beautiful lake! After, my husband & I soaked in the hot tub and then we made more family memories with a camp fire and making s'mores! After that, we played a family card game before bed. We were up early enough before check out to have a quiet cup of coffee before we packed up and drove over 2 hours home.
They have everything you need such as drinkable water, coffee pods, TV with movie apos, free wifi, bath toiletries, bedding, a good size fridge with freezer, peace & quiet, a/c for both upstairs and downstairs, some games & puzzles and dishware. Bring your own s'more items, skewers, logs, and fire fluid- and you're all set!
I would absolutely stay here again! My twin 12 yr olds & 7 year wanted to stay longer!
If I could suggest a few things to help the stay, it would be have the grass mowed- ad it was over grown and made it hard to not trip over roots and stones. And additional recycling- as all the recycling bins on the curb were full to the brim from previous occupants. Note: None of this would delay the amazing time we had- just suggestions

My wife, 2 sons (6 &5) and I had a lovely week staying at the Wanderlust Cabin.
The pictures don’t do the property justice! The creek running through the property, the proper fire pit, all the games in the cabin, and of course, the proximity to Hood Canal and Olympic National Park made our stay a blast. Our kids have already asked if we can come back, and we will!
