Located just outside the Ellensburg city limits in an area called Grasslands. All lots are a minimum of one acre, with quiet streets, and ten minutes from anywhere downtown in Ellensburg. Five minutes from the rodeo grounds, the property also has a gate providing direct access to the Palouse to Cascades Trail for hiking, biking, jogging, or electric scooters.
We offer full hookups with direct connection to sewer, a deep well with great water, and a 30-amp electric hookup. The normal entrance, opposite the hookups on RVs and trailers, faces the Stuart Range mountains and is away from our house. There is easy access off the road, with a dedicated parking spot for vehicles that tow trailers or fifth wheels, or for a towed vehicle your RV pulls. There is plenty of space in the backyard.
We have rented this space successfully on Airbnb for three years, though there is not much traffic. Guests have stayed for weekends, 3–4 day holidays, on a weekly basis (with a 20% discount from the nightly rate), and on a monthly basis (with a 40% discount from the nightly rate).
There is plenty of space for a personal fire pit and seating under your awning. The property is super quiet and safe, thanks to its off-road location, 200 feet from the street.

These camps are on a 24 acre farm with about 3,500' of frontage on the Entiat River.
The land's history has included use as pasture, orchards, and flower farm. It's currently identified as a USDA type silvopasture farm. The priority crop is growing native fir trees that will be harvested in 60+ years as telephone poles. During this time, the land will be grazed by a variety of livestock balanced to keep fields and animals healthy and productive.
The current owners purchased the farm fall of 2023 from a family estate that owned it since the 1970s. It is considered a legacy project as work progresses to Firewise the land in support of old growth native trees and maximum summer shade for salmon.
During the 2025 grazing season, the NE pasture of 5 acres along the river fed 8 Katahdin Sheep. In Spring 2026, bison, cattle, and goats will be moving into the SE pasture of 7 acres that climbs the mountain along the west border.
Eagles, Osprey, Red Tail Hawks, Owls, Blue Jays, Chickadees, Beaver, Otter, Martin, American Dippers, Blue Herons, waterfowl, bats, mushrooms, deer, elk, cougar, bear, coyotes, bobcats, and a variety of other interesting birds and bugs abound.
There may also be visitors to our aluminum fabrication farm shop where custom surf/SUP racks, hippie hot tub stands, tables, gates, and other DIY kits are designed and built.

Campsite include water on site (boil or filter before drinking!) and access to the community outdoor shower with on demand hot water. FIRE BAN on all wood and charcoal, propane firepits located at each campsite, just BYOPropane!
There is a biogas hand pump toilet on site, however it is not maintained and is often NOT in working order. If you reserve this spot please be sure to plan for your own human waste disposal. If you do attempt to use the toilet please ONLY flush provided RV paper, others will certainly clog this system.

If you like nature, there are many features for you. From hiking to biking, off road access, hunting, or wildlife viewing, Derby Canyon offers it all. Enjoy a day in Leavenworth, the Wenatchee River, mountain bike trail, or a hike in the mountains.
Though most of the area does not receive cell phone service (I have Verizon) we do get service at this site. Located about 5 miles off the county road (High ground clearance and 4x4 vehicles recommended for this forest service road leading to the campsite), cell service will fall off for the first 4 miles, however most people will have service at the site itself. Please PRINT or DOWNLOAD the directions I will email you for OFFLINE use!
For now we are offering this site as a private escape campsite to enjoy the depths of nature in a serene setting. Wood fires are not allowed but we do have a propane firepit available for use free of charge - bring your own propane!

Hauntingly serene and remote location in the basalt columned scablands of Eastern Washington on the unrestored portion of a family ranch in the Crab Creek bottoms. Interesting historic barns and structures with cool vintage retired machinery. It’s a new HipCamp and will likely get some improvements, like signage and some tidying of the immediate grounds and perhaps more detail in the listing. There’s only one hookup spot, so if it’s taken, you’ll be dry camping. But the host was amenable to getting some distance from the other guest while I was there. The price is very reasonable. The region has so few camping opportunities, I’m grateful they opened up this gem. BNSF trains run by a couple times an hour 200 yards away, but no crossings for miles, so no whistles.

At first it was a bit scary to be all alone in this dead end valley on that abandoned farm but i really settled in and spent a nice evening there. Great sunset!

Great little gem tucked away from the crowds. The bathroom and shower was very nice. It’s only 30 mins from Leavenworth and has plenty of gravel and mountain biking from the campsite.

A very spacious spot with cool amenities! We unfortunately couldn't get the shower to work, but the thought was nice. Not super private as it's next to a road, so we saw mountain bikers, ATV's, and vehicles passing throughout the day. A LOT of dust. Locating the site would also be easier if the "Derby Canyon Retreat" sign was mentioned.
The propane fire pit was a godsend, though!! And it was so nice to be able to wash our hands in the sink. We overall had a great time!
