Welcome to our one-acre homestead retreat! This is a relaxed “anything goes” subdivision where neighbors tend to have active gardens, orchards, and homesteads.
On the north side of the property, you’ll find our thriving fruit orchard with five varieties of apple trees, three types of peaches, three plum trees, two cherries, three pears, three persimmons, two pomegranate bushes, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, haskaps, Aronia berries, and even young chestnut and hazelnut trees.
On the opposite side, adventure awaits with a 120-foot zipline running from a mature maple to an enormous tulip poplar. Beneath the poplar tree, we’ve set up multiple swings and a 50-foot climbing rope for extra fun.
At the heart of the property, you’ll find a 16-foot trampoline and a cozy fire pit—the perfect spot to gather in the evenings.
For your stay, you can pitch your own tent or enjoy our 201 sq. ft. canvas tent, furnished with a queen-size bed. In the colder months, we keep the tent outfitted with a wood-burning stove to keep you extra cozy.
Amenities include two yard hydrants for fresh water and a well-maintained outhouse for bathroom needs. The entire acre is fenced in so feel free to bring pets and kids—just please ensure everyone respects the orchard and garden beds.

We had an excellent experience staying in the canvas tent at The Garden Patch. The space is wonderfully secluded, tucked away in the beautiful Shenandoah mountains, and the host gave me all of the guidance to get there safely and set up quickly. The tent itself was perfectly set up—the furnishings were cozy, featuring a large bed with comfortable flannel sheets and a beautiful wood stove, which went a long way in keeping us warm during the colder weather. I would love to come back in better weather to truly enjoy the outdoor space.
I do have a helpful note for future visitors: the road leading to The Garden Patch is rocky and unpaved. If you are driving a vehicle like a loaded-down minivan, please take this into consideration.
Lastly, we were sweetly greeted by a gorgeous shepherd pup both before settling in and when we were leaving in the morning. He was quite friendly, though I did have to bribe him with a treat so he wouldn't get stuck behind the gate as we drove off! Overall, a truly memorable and highly recommended stay.

It's the perfect fish camp, where you are landing beautiful fish within sight of your campsite. The guys were accommodating and communication was excellent.

I made it to the site right as a big storm was rolling through, barely threw my bags and dog into the tent before the skies opened up. Heavy rain on the tent was pretty loud, but I stayed dry and cozy and since my campfire plans were dashed, was so grateful to have the wood stove inside to still get some crackling wood and warm glow - and also to heat up my apple cider! Michael was quick and responsive to messages, his directions were clear, and I very much enjoyed my quick stay in the spacious and comfortable tent!

Had an excellent weekend at Ben's. Ben was super welcoming, the site was wonderful, and the add-on amenities were a boon that saved me time, effort, and space in the vehicle. We spent the nights stargazing and most of the day on the water fishing. As we packed up on our final morning we were awed by a bald eagle hunting on the water and calling out. Highly recommend.

We had a great time here! We tent camped, and added the canoe to fish. I caught 2 bluegills and 1 crappie on a rooster tail. Bass were being a bit picky. Felt a few bites on swim bait, though. The site was nice and quiet, our dog had a great time!

This was such a diamond in the rough! The bed was very comfortable and even though it was cold when we stayed here, we stayed warm in the tent. Michael had firewood available for purchase if we wanted to use the wood stove as well. The property was very nice, it had a nice outhouse too! Michael had a fire pit with some precut wood for us to burn so we enjoyed sitting around the fire in the evening. We received very detailed instructions before we arrived which made it easy to find out where to go and it was very peaceful. My husband and I are both pretty introverted so we enjoyed that we had the place to ourselves and checked ourselves in! Thank you again for the wonderful stay, 5/5 stars!!

Host, Ben, was very hospitable - the perfect level of interaction (a nice welcome, advice on car/tent location, lay of the land) followed by an occasional drive-by (the spot is adjacent to the drive to his house which is not seen from the campsite).

We had a wonderful stay at Ridge Crest Hollow and Lake! The site was beautiful and peaceful, and we especially enjoyed canoeing and kayaking on the serene lake. Our host, Ben, was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. We also loved the little extras offered—like the farm fresh eggs, which were absolutely delicious. The gravel road through the neighborhood is 2WD friendly. The property was super easy to find, especially with the owner’s great communication. Unfortunately it was a rainy night and we couldn’t enjoy the prepped fire pit, but maybe we will just come back one day! Area was nice and quiet. We did enjoy the freshly built outhouse and the outdoor sink. The tent was most certainly waterproof and very roomy. The queen bed was freshly made up and provided a comfortable night’s sleep. The perfect place to rest after a long drive, or spend the weekend with the kids. Several swings, and things to play on for them. Plenty of food options within 5-10 minutes drive too.
