Surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains with views all around and from our cabin rentals, our campground is close to the Luray Caverns, the famed Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park, the Shenandoah River, and several Civil War sites.
We offer both shady RV sites and open RV sites that can accommodate all sized RVs and trailers—we are big rig friendly! Each RV site includes a picnic table, fire ring, 30 or 50-amp electrical service, and sewer. We have deluxe patio sites and deluxe tent sites too!
Our campground is in the heart of all that Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley has to offer. Hiking opportunities abound as Luray is the closest town to the Thornton Gap entrance of Shenandoah National Park, and is to the Skyline Drive, taking drivers along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains!
The Luray Caverns, a national historic site, with it’s famous Great Stalacpipe Organ, are just a few minutes away, and tubing, canoeing, and white-water rafting adventure can be found at the nearby Shenandoah River. Museums and Civil War sites will feed your history-loving soul!
Onsite we have a brand-new camp store! We also have a large pool and small pool, a gathering yurt for groups and an event pavilion, a playground, and a jumping pillow is in the works! We have 7+ very private acres along the North Fork of the Shenandoah River, which has been in our family for over 50 years and where we currently live.
You will arrive at our house, and the campsite is approximately 150 yds down the river trail. The campsite is completely private from our house.
We are native plant enthusiasts and are fortunate to have many native species of trees and plants on our property. There’s great fishing, hiking, kayaking and canoeing from the property and also plenty more nearby.
We’re only a few miles outside of Strasburg which offers great antique shops, dining, and a brewery with live music on weekends.
Five night maximum permitted. We prefer that guests arrive before dark.
**Note that the North Fork is a shallow river with a slate bottom. If you plan to wade, fish or swim in the river, you may want to bring some sturdy shoes to wear in the river.

We built an all-season full capacity hot shower bathhouse with flush toilet, A-frame cabin, bigger electrical service, and wider road entrance for 30ft RVs, and Wi-Fi.

This spot is a gem and the hosts are gracious with many other amenities. I would highly recommend this spot for 1-3 people or 2 people and a dog looking for a waterfront site for a more relaxed camping experience. "More relaxed" because the tent platform makes tent setup easy, and you don't have to worry about issues with the ground, and John and Mary have firewood and a fire pit ready for use. I'll be coming back soon.

Mary and John are so unbelievably welcoming. They’ve thought a lot about what campers need from the compost toilet to the outside shower. The view of the river is phenomenal and John offered to let us use kayaks. The platform is such a luxury.

I loved my experience here especially at the browns gap site! the whole land is on a slight grade but browns gap and others had leveled areas meant for tent placement. showers and bathrooms were very clean and had hot water. The dog Abba was awesome and loves to greet everyone. At certain points the livestock or other campers dogs can be loud but it beats camping at other crowded campgrounds. definitely reccomend especially for the price!

Thos is a nice quiet spot in the Shenandoah Valley, especially suitable for a place to come back to after a day of hiking or exploring the various caverns or historical places nearby.
I have used it twice now as an overnight stop on my way up or down I-81. I camp solo (with my dog) in a small 13 foot camper pulled behind my Jeep. I have stayed both times in the High Knob spot that offers electric and water hook ups, which is great. It is a very uneven spot, and leveling up is difficult alone.
The toilet, shower, and outdoor clean up sink are great. Nathan offers.wood and eggs which can be ordered ahead of your arrival.
I had to contact him when I arrived both times and he was very attentive.
I recommend this spot.

Great spot! Rocky so definitely put a tarp down before you put your tent up. Not so flat. Overall, great though! Convenient bathhouse and dishwashing station. Felt private. Nathan was super responsive whenever we had questions. The eggs were some of the best I've had in a long time! Definitely check out Old Hill Cider nearby and if you're into hiking: Church Rock has some amazing views!

We absolutely loved our stay here!! The site is private and so beautiful. I wish we had more than one night here - we would love to return. Mary & John were so incredibly welcoming & hospitable!! The platform site is perfect & we loved having the composting toilet right there. Waking up by the water was so peaceful. I highly recommend!

This is our 3rd Hipcamp. What I loved was the “private campground” feel. There are other sites on the property, spaced well enough that we had plenty of room and not crammed in like a family campground. We choose this one because we were passing through for one night and it had a shower/toilet. Loved all the trees and wooded feel and privacy without a bunch of activity and rules. The sites are not very level so that is one thing to be aware of. And some debris laying about, dirty chairs, etc.. but overall, Nathan was super helpful and accommodating. The toilet room was clean and we loved Apa, the camp guardian dog.

Very peaceful camping site. The restroom and shower house is clean and well tended. Looked forward to daily visits from the guard dog. She is so friendly and beautiful. Nathan has fresh eggs and firewood available for purchase as well. He is a wonderful host.
