The Farm was originally named 2nd 4o by my parents. They planned to live the 2nd forty years of their lives together on the farm. My parents both grew up on the southside of Chicago - where having a tree in your yard meant that you had "made it". They decided to use the land to grow Christmas trees. This did not last long :) but the saplings my dad planted by hand are still here & maybe 70' tall!
Then my husband & I bought The Farm in 2017 for the 2nd forty years of our life & my parents built their little house right here. My husband and I immediately knew that our dream was to grow a different kind of "tree", so in 2019 we were among the first group to receive our license to grow hemp. We are passionate about both the hemp and cannabis plants!
In 2020 when it finally became legal to grow cannabis, we immediately added that to our garden as well and 2nd 40 to 420 was born, or shall I say planted. We currently rent out our 2 RV's 3 Yurts & primitive sites , we also offer group bookings & Canna-friendly B&B options. We plan to add septic & electric hook-ups for RV's in the near future.

Camp sites also have fire rings with wood available for you to use. Campers are welcome to use any wood that's on the ground near or around your site. Camp sites can be accessed with a high clearance 4 wheel drive vehicle or walk up the hill to your site. With easy access down to the river, by walking or driving, you can cool off in the beautiful Cow Pasture River.
Glamping in the Vardo Wagon is another option, with its close proximity to the river and cozy interior. The Gypsy Rose sleeps 2, but can sleep 2 additional guests with a tent.

This was a very well thought out cabin with many conveniences—from plenty of hooks to remotes for the lights to a guest Netflix subscription. It was very quiet on the property. The porch is a fantastic place to relax. The upstairs can get warm even with the HVAC but there are two fans that keep it comfortable. There is also a door with a screen you can leave open in the loft. I would definitely stay here again. Also, the host is extremely responsive.

Weekend Trip to Camping at Lazy River Farm
We stayed at Gypsy Rose – The Wagon for Valentine’s Day and it was absolutely perfect. From the moment we arrived, everything felt cozy, peaceful, and romantic. The wagon itself is beautifully set up — charming, clean, and full of little details that make it feel special.
Spending the night in the wagon made the whole experience feel unique and intimate. Sitting under the stars with my wife, enjoying the quiet and just being together, is something we’ll never forget. It was the perfect mix of comfort and adventure.
If you’re looking for a romantic getaway that feels different from the usual hotel stay, this is it. We made amazing memories here and would 100% come back again.

We loved the grand view cabin! Such an incredible view and cozy cabin. We also visited the farm and our 3 year old loved running around seeing all the animals.
We loved winding down with the sun and getting cozy and warm with the wood burning stove on our December weekend. Would 100% stay again and Dan was very responsive and I really appreciated the minimal contact unless we needed something. It really allowed the perfect unplugging.

The bus is located in a gorgeous setting that is also convenient to main road into town for conveniences, restaurants, as well as access to spectacular forest for hiking and other outdoor activities.
The bus has everything we needed to rest and enjoy ourselves. Scott was very responsive and considerate, and provided home comforts to make us feel welcomed and cared for. Highly recommend!

The tiny house has everything you would need. It was cute, quiet, and the hot tub was perfect for the chilly autumn nights. There’s a projector screen right by hot tub which made for some spooky vibes. And the cute fenced in yard was perfect for our dog. There’s also some trails to walk and we got to see some highland cows. Would definitely recommend! Thank you host

Kerwin and his family saved my son's 16th birthday celebration. We made a reservation for tent style accommodations for the evening but when we arrived, it was FAR from what was advertised. We had to scramble to find somewhere else and Kerwin responded immediately to my almost 8pm request to book and answered his phone when I panic called. (This was literally 10 minutes after I requested to book, and he said he was right in the middle.of texting me back. The RELIEF I felt in that moment is indescribable) Kerwin and family are the sweetest and I cannot explain how grateful I am for their hospitality. The home was immaculate when we arrived and waking up to a field of cows and 2 of the cutest donkeys ive ever seen was amazing. The property, the people, the vibe, the atmosphere- its all perfect! Unfortunately we had to leave before we could meet Kerwin or his other farm animal family members in person,but we will absolutely be back! Maybe even to get married at their stunning wedding venue!!!! 100% perfect. Book it, youll regret it if you dont!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Log Cabin on Virginia Farm, and I can't say enough good things about my experience! From the moment I arrived, Shirley, our host, made us feel right at home. Her warm welcome and thoughtful personal touches truly set the tone for a relaxing getaway.
The cabin itself was exactly as described—cozy, clean, and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The amenities were fantastic! We loved spending our afternoons by the pool, exploring the scenic walking trails, and enjoying some friendly competition on the ball courts. The fire pits were the perfect spot to unwind in the evenings, roasting marshmallows and sharing stories under the stars.
Overall, this stay exceeded my expectations. If you're looking for a peaceful retreat with plenty of activities to enjoy, I highly recommend the Log Cabin on Virginia Farm. Thank you, Shirley, for being such a wonderful host! I can't wait to return!

Clean pool and unique home, fun to have access to the barn, fire pit and walking trails. Gorgeous flowers and plants with plenty of butterflies to enjoy. Well stocked kitchen and bathroom. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

3 nights at Blue Bird with Heat/AC!!
Scott was friendly and available to help out whenever needed. The bus was very cute, I loved the fern stencils on the outside. I also loved how many different kinds of mushrooms were growing around the property, it was fun to explore. Their cat was so affectionate. A great place for a quiet and relaxing stay and a good launch pad for exploring nearby cities and nature spots (Roanoke, Floyd, Blue Ridge Parkway)

1 night at Wild River Farm
Super easy to find, short trip off of I-81 (HARD to find without staying at a freeway hotel, which is NOT ideal with a dog)... but no freeway noises. The camper fit 3 of us adults - cozy quarters, but comfy. Bedding was clean and soft - nothing fancy, but just what we needed. We didn't try the various gadgets the camper had to offer - just threw together a camp fire outside and prepped our dinner that way. But the A/C and bathroom worked great & booking was simple and painless. Will definitely stop over here again.

My husband and our two dogs loved our stay! The property is absolutely stunning! We made sure to wake up every morning for the incredible sunrise 🌅 It was very hot during our stay, but we were able to cool off in the pool and the AC was plenty for us to be comfortable while indoors. We mostly stayed by the pool because of the heat, but the barn and fire pit area were awesome! Everything was very clean and the kitchen fully stocked with everything we needed for our stay. Our dogs loved the front porch and being able to walk/run off leash. Shirley was extremely respectful of our privacy, but also made sure to leave us a friendly note with her number if we needed anything at all. 10/10 recommend this hipcamp 😊
