The camp site is on a 12 acre open field with complete privacy from the main road with Sheep living on the property. There are two small mountain ridges that are great for hiking while being able to enjoy the scenic panoramic views. There is also a 9 acres of land across the main camp site that is surrounded by water on 3 sides, which is excellent for fishing. We are located just a few miles from the West Virginia boarder. TIPS: -PLEASE KEEP ALL FOOD IN THE CAR when going to sleep or when you are away from the site. - The area has wild animals (snakes, bears, coyotes, etc.) so make sure you stay safe and keep your food in a secure place. *pro-tip: animals are typically more scared of you, however be cautious and watch your step. - During the Spring and Summer, there are all kind of bugs around so make sure bug spray is a priority!! - There are two natural spring waters locations near by. - If your planning to go into the water make sure to put on WATER SHOES! and enter at your own risk.

This campsite was truly a very special place. The view and the location could not have been better, right on the Shenandoah River. The host was super responsive. The amenities were great, including kayaks, yard games, lots of chairs, an outdoor shower, an outdoor kitchen, fire pits, and wood available for purchase. There was plenty of space for the 13 kids and 4 adults between our family and another who planned this as a fun getaway for our families. Our dog was able to roam free all weekend, which was a real treat for her too. We were hooked up with our RV and our friends brought multiple tents and there was plenty of space and access to electric and water. Would definitely recommend.

This spot was private and had great access to a creek. I have a dog that doesn’t do well with strangers and it was so nice being able to let him run around and play in the water off leash. The host checked in via text to see if we needed anything while we were there. We did bring a 21 foot camper and had no issues getting in or out.

We loved tent camping on Melissa’s land — Blue site is next to Red site which is another plot, pretty close to one another but we had no neighbors. If you’re looking for a more private experience, I suggest booking both sites. The view of the river was absolutely beautiful. Melissa has an awesome set up with grills, and an outside kitchen which came in super handy. She has plenty of kayaks, and a great set up for bonfires. She has extra chairs even out there and picnic tables per site. Great Don John, clean. The best part was the outside shower!! Definitely recommend her land, she was super helpful prior to the trip and during. She also in future will be renting an RV & even has a cabin for rent now which we def plan to come back soon. It’s very local to stores, breweries etc if you’d want to leave site for a bit to grab things. Our friends had such a great time and can’t wait for our next trip here!!

This is our second time camping here and we plan on making it an annual thing. Melissa provided clear instructions for a everything so there were no questions to ask. We were able to tube down to River and Trail Outfitters right from our front yard to take the shuttle to the top of the river! We also loved hanging out around the campfire overlooking the river in the evening. Oh, and the new outdoor shower is awesome! Highly recommend!

This was a lovely introduction to river camping for me. As it was my first time exploring a river, I felt safe and capable with everything I needed. Melissa had ample tubes, kayaks, kayak anchors, life vests and an air pump for the tubes as well. She was very communicative and patient with all of my questions. Me and my partner enjoyed making and eating our meals with the ease of a sink and gas grill. Floating around during the day and gathering around the fire pit at night. The outdoor shower also felt private and was a fun experience. We would definitely like to come to this site again. For more privacy I recommend booking both sites, but we managed just fine with our friendly neighbors.

My first stay at a HipCamp site. The host was very helpful and quick to respond. She made sure I had everything I needed in advance. Beautiful, quiet spot on the river. The outdoor shower coming out of a massive tree trunk was very cool. It was a mid week stay and I had it all to myself.

Loved this place! Very quiet, beautiful scenery, serene. Very well maintained. Only word of caution is if you are bringing an RV. We have a 23 foot one and followed GPS. It took us on a narrow, one lane gravel road that was a little dicey. The Hipcamp host, Abdallah, gave us an alternate way out that was SO much better. So - if you are bringing an RV, have Abdallah give you specifics!
