Welcome to our farm that dates back to 1916, where you can set up camp amidst our more than 10 acre farm. This charming spot is perfect for a getaway to rest, recharge, and explore the outdoors! About the Property: The rolling hills, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, and the bountiful wild flowers do not disappoint if you are looking for a peaceful time away. The property itself is wonderful to explore - whether that be wandering through the vineyard at sunset, or talking a walk on the farm and saying hi to our goats, chickens, and cows. We are located about 30 minutes from Shenandoah National Park, New Market Battlefield, and the Skyline Drive, which is stunning any time of year! Campers can enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, and visiting wineries. There is something for everyone to do! We are also near the town of New Market, VA if you need to head into town and pick up some necessities. We really enjoy meeting campers and providing suggestions about what to do on and around our property, though we also respect guests' need for privacy and quiet-time if that is preferred. Just 40 minutes outside DC, Smallwood State Park is a 628 acre paradise with a marina, boat launching ramps, a picnic area, camping area, pavilions, a recycled tire playground and nature trails. The park is on the Mattawoman Creek, less than a mile from the Potomac River, but if you’re ready to swim, errrr, boat/fish with the big fish, the Potomac River is just a mile away. Feeling reflective? Go way back to the 18th century with tours of Smallwood’s Retreat House, open on the first and third Sundays, May through September.

Weekend Trip to Shenandoah Retreat by Hazard Mill
The cabin was exactly as described. Host had great communication and helpful tips
The place was clean, had some helpful items available and the screened in porch was perfect to enjoy the water views without getting bit by bugs (just typical summer conditions). The cabin is in close proximity to other structures but it was SUPER quiet and peaceful. Easy to drop a kayak in, shuttles are also nearby
It should be mentioned that the driveway is long and full of potholes. It’s a bumpy, slow ride. Some low laying vehicles could struggle depending on conditions
Overall we’d definitely come back

This spot really exceeded expectations! Thought it’d be musty and dark with lumpy beds and a smelly outhouse, which would have been fine. The hazard is bright and airy with a very pleasant fresh smell (not a covering gross perfume). The beds were comfy and the outhouse was for what it is great. Lots of flat soft ground for tents or games.
River access was easy. We did 17 miles from here to front royal boat ramp in six hours first day. River was high. Gorgeous trip but no rapids to speak of. Did 10 miles second day from seekford. Great class two at mile one, lots of class 1s and ripples after. Shuttle is a bit of a bear for that at 45 minutes each way.
