We are a Nature Retreat bordering Nature Conservancy land along a tributary and up and down the Rappahannock River. You can hike along the stream down to the river and up and down the river. You can fish and float the river. There are no trails so a moderate level of fitness and comfort in the forest is needed. You can follow the water ways but it is wilderness. Camping there is primitive but available or you can camp or glamp at Earthwalk Ways Retreat. We are also adjacent to a 50 acre farm on the other side of the creek that is available for hiking. There is a reservoir nearby as well. We are in the midst of the suburbs not far from Fredericksburg, which has some great historic and community places of interest. Our facilities are private and we only rent to one or 2 guests at a time. You can glamp in a trailer, or car camp in a nice campground with power and water or you can go primitive and pack in. All spaces include access to our classical 11 circuit labyrinth and backyard gardens where you can enjoy zen rock garden and other contemplative nature crafts. There are some great extra's here as well including an outdoor jacuzzi and indoor infrared sauna and massage chair. These spa features are another great way to get your zen on here. I offer Forest Bathing and individual retreat support sessions, an quarterly sweat lodge and also vision quest support if people would like to experience a solo nature immersion feast.

Wolftrap Farm was owned by James & Dolley Madison during their time, and they called it Black Meadow. Their home, Montpelier, is just across the mountains you see from the campsite. It passed through the hands of various local farmers during the 19th & 20th centuries, and for many years was a dairy farm. It became primarily a horse farm in the 1970's, when it was owned by the German Von Wulffen family.The Cuthrell family from the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area acquired the farm in 2003 and converted it to a resort farm, featuring upscale vacation homes. Great site, quiet and spacious, beautiful views of the mountains. Clean restroom/shower facilities conveniently located near tent. Tent setup was very comfortable with a bed, a/c, grill, table. Quiet, and loved having the horses nearby. Glad that there was a fridge to keep perishables, and other supplies like plates, etc. Ladies room was awesome.

This is a beautiful farm. The setting was very peaceful. It was really cool having access to a full kitchen within just a few steps. The showers and restrooms were clean and convenient! As it ended up being near record breaking temps during our stay- our host Tina had the AC running in the tent, ahead of our arrival to help cool it down a bit. We look forward to visiting Wolftrap Farm during the fall season!

I loved this little secluded retreat! I'm a 42 yr old female and I felt completely safe staying there by myself. The only two things I'll mention that I think people should be aware of. One is that the toilet is kinda more like a glorified outhouse. I've never seen anything like it and it was very awkward to use. I wound up just using the woods after a couple of uses. The other thing was that the bed was difficult getting into and out of due to the railing of the sliding door; and I'm a small flexile person. I think anyone larger than me would struggle. I really enjoyed my stay, but I think those are two major things renters should be aware of in case they are important to you.
