There is also ample space for setting up a tent outside of the tiny house and some campers have even managed to pull a small 8x10 trailer into the campsite.  Take advantage of access to a private fire pit during your stay. There is also a stove in the cabin to keep you warm. The outhouse features a pit toilet.  Additional details to note Early check-in or late checkout can be managed on a case by case note, depending on whether or not the campsite has other reservations. Pets are allowed. We are a Nature Retreat bordering Nature Conservancy land along a tributary and up and down the Rappahannock River. You can hike along the stream down to the river and up and down the river. You can fish and float the river. There are no trails so a moderate level of fitness and comfort in the forest is needed. You can follow the water ways but it is wilderness. Camping there is primitive but available or you can camp or glamp at Earthwalk Ways Retreat. We are also adjacent to a 50 acre farm on the other side of the creek that is available for hiking. There is a reservoir nearby as well. We are in the midst of the suburbs not far from Fredericksburg, which has some great historic and community places of interest. Our facilities are private and we only rent to one or 2 guests at a time. You can glamp in a trailer, or car camp in a nice campground with power and water or you can go primitive and pack in. All spaces include access to our classical 11 circuit labyrinth and backyard gardens where you can enjoy zen rock garden and other contemplative nature crafts. There are some great extra's here as well including an outdoor jacuzzi and indoor infrared sauna and massage chair. These spa features are another great way to get your zen on here. I offer Forest Bathing and individual retreat support sessions, an quarterly sweat lodge and also vision quest support if people would like to experience a solo nature immersion feast.

Welcome to our small Farm, nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Madison County, Virginia. Located just minutes from Shenandoah National Park, we offer intimate nature-inspired cottages and camping on our 120-acre working farm. Camper vans are welcome at the main farm! Our farm store includes our Animal Welfare Approved products such as Eggs, Chicken, Beef, Pork, Lamb and Dairy, as well as produce, jams, coffee and other items from our local community. We tend to “rise with the Sun, and sleep when it’s done”, so don’t be surprised if you see David or myself, or our kids playing/working on site. If you like to chat, we’re usually available, if you like your privacy, we respect that too. There are a handful of neighbors, and sometimes cars travel up or down the road, but generally this is a quiet, peaceful area. Our two old time scotch collies keep most wildlife away, but once in a while you get a glimpse of turkey, or hawks, rabbits, etc…. We try to keep your need to bring much to a minimum, so we provide plenty of blankets and pillows ( or sleeping bag if desired), dishes and some cookware for over-the-fire meals, towels and wash cloths if a rain barrel “cat bath” is in order :), hand soap and toilet paper too! Life is in constant fluctuation up here at our mountain home, which is how we like it! Camp out with us and see why!

Weekend Trip to Earthwalk Ways Retreat

I had a nearby visit with friends that I took the opportunity to turn into a weekend retreat. Darlene was so nice and welcoming. I appreciate her letting me check in during the evening since I couldn't leave work early. She took the time to show me around the grounds the next morning and then left me to it. The room was cozy and had a nice set up for tea /coffee and any basic cooking you might do on a hot plate. I really enjoyed looking through some of the books in the room, my favorite was an anthology of wisdom and stories from grandmothers. I spent time by the creek and one morning saw 3 deer and a buck wandering across. Also really loved the spa set up. 10/10 I left feeling grounded and will definitely be back the next time I find myself in the area.

Weekend Trip to Hawthorn Hollar

Moon and Julie were wonderful hosts. I had booked the weekend of the 4th of july and unfortunately the week before a heat wave was announced to roll in. My group decided to not cancel the trip and give it a shot, but 1 night outside with a heat index of 110 was too much, and we called the trip short. The hosts were very understanding and even refunded the second day, which according to the terms of our booking they absolutely were not required to do. I knew the risk when I accepted the booking. The campground itself is very beautiful and I plan on returning during better weather early this fall. I highly recommend this place. Also, as a bonus I learned that Moon is an avid reader so we had plenty to talk about, as I am a literature nerd myself.

Our Easter weekend stay was the perfect setting for my kids' first camping trip. The owners are wonderful, hardworking people who made us feel very welcome. We spent most of our time at the pond catching over a dozen bass and bluegill, and the kids lived in the hammock! The cabin is awesome and provides a true off-grid experience; since there’s no power, I'd recommend bringing a generator if you need electricity. We’ll definitely be back!

Loved my little cabin - I was greeted upon arrival by the cutest puppy- the bed in my cabin was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. It was very quiet except for animal sounds which were relaxing. Everything was cozy and perfect. 10/10

Our stay was amazing! We were only there for two nights but we left feeling so rested we joked we stayed for a week. Our children LOVED the fields, pond, fishing and canoeing, and the trails. And our city dog was a whole new version of herself! Moon and Julie are the most gracious hosts and their space is full of life and rest! Our time there was a gift. We can’t wait to go back!

1 night at Twin Springs Tiny House

This tiny cabin was the perfect private getaway in the woods. The wood stove inside was perfect and so easy to use. No smoke poured into the cabin, and it got hot enough to heat up my percolator and make coffee. Clinton was very helpful and responsive through my entire trip. The cabin is so secluded, and it was the best escape from life. There is not a built in grate at the fire to cook, but there is a propane stove, and I found an old grill grate that worked well over some wood. There is also a creek that runs through the property that was nice to walk around and hang out by. Amazing getaway and can’t wait to come back.

This cabin was a gem! Just did a short overnight to get close to Shenandoah, but I honestly could have stayed there for days. It's a rustic one room cabin that's perfect if you want a quiet, unplugged existence. Would be great for a meditation retreat or writing session- the small wood stove adds to the ambience for night reading, etc. Also, the collies were great greeters and companions, very sweet dogs.

My partner & I loved our winter weekend here! Host was super accommodating. We’re super grateful for his help in getting our stuff to the cabin since our Civic wouldn’t have gotten that far into the property in the current snowy/ rainy conditions. The cabin itself is tucked away into a wooded area on his property, it’s like you enter another world once you pass over the little bridge. There’s a fire pit, generator, & outhouse. The cabin is very small but perfect for a couple or a little family. There’s pillows & blankets but we also brought a couple extra blankets, which I’m glad we did. The wood burning stove did a fairly good job of keeping us warm during a 20ish degree night except that it’s pretty small so be prepared with smaller pieces of wood or firelogs which burn slower. Host also provided a good amount of water, camp stove, random cookware, etc. Quite well stocked place. We didn’t get to meet the host but we did see his adorable dogs on our way out so that was awesome :) overall the vibes were wonderful

Awesome little cabin. My girlfriend and I usually car camp, so the cabin was an upgrade to get out of the cold while doing some winter camping. Things I really enjoyed was the wood stove, the overall simplicity of the cabin, and how the cabin was tucked away in the woods. Also shoutout to Clinton! Awesome host when we got there.

This is my third winter in a row staying at Collie Cottage. It’s my favorite place to get away when it’s a little too cold outside to camp. The cabin is perfectly appointed for a comfortable yet minimal experience, and the hosts are friendly while also giving you plenty of privacy. Hope to be back soon!

Best weekend ever! Clinton was a great host, and made sure we had everything we needed. The cabin is super cute, clean, and has everything you need for a relaxing weekend to unplug and unwind! If going in the middle of winter with a few inches of snow (like us), bring a few extra blankets. We had brought some extras and stayed plenty warm. Would definitely go back!

We were looking for a small place for a short getaway near the Shenedoah Valley. This was perfect! The little cabin had a futon and a top bunk bed. There was a chest beside the bed that had extra blankets and also doubled as a table. A small fire burning stove sat in the corner for warmth and cooking adjacent to a rocking chair and there was a cabinet with extra bedding. The beds were already made and included pullows. There was an area rug down to keep feet warm. Outside was a fire pit for the cabin and just down the hill was a large community fire pit. The bathroom (in a seperate shed) was a small hand made toilet with a wood shaving bucket to cover waste (I actually prferred this to the typical porta potty as they smell awful). This toilet was well maintained. We brought our own drinking water, but they will provide for you upon request. There is no shower, so bring your Dude Wipes if you plan on staying a bit. This is not a place for anyone who needs alot of comforts from home or are use to staying in hotels. It is rustic! But if you can appreciate the little things, this is for you. There are also two Collies that live there who will come visit you ro make sure you are safe ❤️. We definitely would recommend this place! Booking was easy and the owner came down to check on us to make sure we had everything we needed. We WILL return!

Had a great time!! It is a very special property and Jennifer was kind to show us the animals and tell us more about the history. The little cabin was comfortable and had all the basic cooking items we needed as well as plenty of water for dishes/handwashing! We enjoyed a complimentary wine tasting at a nearby winery that Jennifer gave us, but overall just hung out at the property and enjoyed the peace and quiet. Also, the outhouse is difficult to see if you arrive at night, but it is there, just a few feet off the trail by the solar lights :)
