Located within the Adirondack Park, our camp is a private woodlot with a fantastic view of Jay Mountain! You’ll enjoy peace and quiet, with no road noise or light pollution. The eastern exposure of the site provides plenty of sunshine. Although you’re likely here to explore the Adirondack Mountains, our property invites you to truly relax and enjoy the surroundings.
The driveway leads to a level area for car camping or pitching a tent. You’ll also find a stone fire pit with firewood available for purchase (honor system) on site. A unique timber framed outhouse is just a short walk from the campsite. As a rule, we leave the outhouse stocked with toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and trash bags. However, because we won’t be on site to restock supplies between guests, it’s best to come prepared with those items.
We think you’ll agree that our location is hard to beat! You’ll see and hear wildlife throughout your stay. Listen for the drumming of a Ruffed Grouse by day, and for barking foxes, chatty coyotes, and hooting owls at night. While fully immersed in a prime Adirondack setting, you’ll still be surprisingly close to nearby attractions and conveniences:

The driveway and campsite are navigable in a vehicle with 4WD/AWD. A bit of extra ground clearance will help. If you have concerns about whether or not your ride can handle it, feel free to contact us… we can weigh in.

We love camping, and when we decided that state campgrounds and the like were just too busy, we found this amazing, secluded property on a small lake with no public access.
There is a cabin on the property, which is available for limited rentals. However, we have a great flat yard just a short (2 min) walk to South Pond thats perfect for a tent. There's a rustic outhouse, fire pit, picnic table, and usually games like badminton setup. Our property is a couple miles down a private dirt road. Fishing is great (with a license of course), and the water is perfect for kayaking and paddle boarding.

We absolutely loved our stay at Julie and Jim's land with our pups! The property was beautiful, peaceful, and perfectly private. There was so much to do, from exploring the trails through the woods to relaxing by the water. We especially loved taking out the little pedal boat for a spin. Julie and Jim truly thought of everything to make the stay comfortable, and the bathroom was the best one we have seen on hipcamp yet. It was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation, and we will definitley be back!

This Hipcamp sight was by far the best sight we have ever stayed on. They go above and beyond and absolutely are inspirational with what they have done . It was completely peaceful easy to get to with well marked directions. The grounds were manicured and they had everything we needed to be comfortable. They were very friendly and walked out to meet us after we arrived as if we were old friends. On a scale of 1-5 I give it a six. Perhaps the first sight we have stayed on we could not find anything to improve upon.

We loved Outerspace! We stayed at the Knotty Pines site and it was awesome - private, cozy, and had everything you’d need for camp including table & chairs, cooking grate, some utensils, and sink. Cara was so nice and had some great suggestions for things to do. Easy to find, easy to drive in an out, clean toilet…a really great spot!

This is a great camping site! Very quiet, private, and scenic. There was nice fall color during our visit. Lots of open space too! We were just here for a short weekend and I felt very safe as a solo female camper with my dog. The owner was available if I had questions and saved me a long trip to Walmart by recommending a local store I could go to when I needed to replace some gear that broke. She also had wifi information available so I could check in with people and get directions periodically during my stay. I would usually do that when I walked back towards the house for the bathroom or shower. It’s a couple minute walk from the back of the property where the campsite is. The shower was really lovely in the afternoons since it did get hot during the day during my visit. Because it was so private and the weather was nice we ended up leaving the rain guard off the tent and sleeping in the moonlight which was beautiful. We did swing by Stowe during our visit to walk the recreation path which wasn’t too far (although it felt so loud and bustling after being at the quiet campsite!) and we also went the other direction to Hardwick, Danville, and Dog Mountain in St Johnsbury. We also heard some barred owls while we were there (and lots and lots of geese!)

Julie and Jim have done an outstanding job with Bumpa’s! Love all of the thought and details. The site is very private. the view of the pond is wonderful. Screened in pavilion is nice and has drinking water. Outhouse is clean with running water. The view of the pond is so fun and relaxing. We wondered through all of the trails. We did not want to leave and will return for sure! We road our bikes on the rails to trails. It is easy to break it into bits over days. And, we hit lots of breweries. All were very good.

This campsite was amazing! We wanted the pond site originally but so happy we went with Knotty Pines. It has everything you want to have when camping. Big pines, view of the stars, and a big fireplace. Not to mention a swing set, picnic tables, and plenty of space. This campsite was BIG! Our host Cara was by far the kindest host we have ever had on our hipcamps. She was so welcoming and down to earth. She’s committed to make sure your experience a good one. Could not have been happier with this site. We absolutely loved it!

We just spent three nights on the Union Ag's Fairgrounds because it is one of our favorite Hipcamp locations. Great hosts, a new shower and toilet building, a great location, and a nice, small river branch for cooling off.
We recommend you visit the Tunbridge library and visit their $1 book sale in the basement. We buy books there twice a year. Then purchase the local walking trails book and find the the page for Strawberry Hill. A short, easy hike off of Morrill Road leads up through two pastures (with a couple friendly cows) to a high observation point, with benches and a 300 degree view.

Knotty Pines was such a lovely secluded spot. Cara and her sweet dog Jack welcomed me upon arrival. She gave me all the details on the site and surrounding area. I arranged to have firewood ahead if time through the Hipcamp site, and everything was ready when I got; Cara even covered it to protect it from a possible thunderstorm.
Super site, next time I'll stay for more than one night.

Bumpa’s Camp is perfect in every way - easy to find, full of useful & thoughtful amenities, beautiful & serene and owned by the nicest people imaginable. Located on a small hill overlooking expansive beaver ponds, the site has several ideal locations to pitch your tent, a wonderfully comfortable screened-in cabin, immaculately clean outhouse, trails & decks overlooking the ponds. Perfect for a solo camper like me, but also perfect for a group. Families with young children would particularly love it because there’s ample space for kids to run around & explore. A tons of wildlife too! Julie & Jim were very communicative before my arrival, and later stopped by to say hello & see if I needed anything. Although I didn’t need them, both showers & WiFi are available just a short distance away at Jim & Julie’s house. As a solo camper, I appreciated the solitude but loved knowing there were helpful people nearby should I need anything. And I just loved all the thoughtful decorative elements - especially the use of interesting-shaped branches as door & cabinet handles in the cabin & outhouse. Julie & Jim are artists & it shows in their attention to detail. Truly a magical experience in an absolutely lovely part of Vermont! I will definitely be back.
