This land is where our family calls home and has been in the Lundgren family for four generations. It is still used for agriculture purposes today. In early June, you may see sheep grazing in the nearby meadows and mid-to-late summer, cows roam the area adding to the uniqueness of the experience.
This part of the country is home to textured red rock, blue skies, and numerous desert flora and fauna, making it an ideal spot for photographers. Some of the animals you might spot include owl, bear, mountain lion, bobcat, deer, coyote, turkey, snakes, lizards, as well as many different types of birds. There is very little light pollution making the night sky dazzling and unforgettable.

Our latest addition! A "cowboy cabin" is a simple cabin somewhere between camping and a hotel room. Like most cowboy cabins, it does not have its own plumbing, but our famously clean private restrooms with showers are just a 50ft walk.

Rest up in peace and quiet in this leafy, shady garden spot. Our place is an oasis in the desert and is admired by all visitors as the most lush, cool spot in Cane Beds. The surrounding vermillion cliffs match the adobe walls of this charming cottage. This unique cottage is a rare example of an earth dwelling. Built about 30 years ago with adobe red clay, sand and straw, it is modernized and recently renovated. You will see two examples of the application of the adobe method in this building.
If you have pets you must add them under EXTRAS. We have it listed under EXPERIENCES and we charge $25 cleaning fee per visit. The way Hipcamp has us do this is not very well done, it's a bit clunky. But Just select one pet if you are staying shorter than a month, two pets if a month or longer. It is not a fee per pet, or per guest, it is per visit. So if you have two pets and are staying a week then select for only one pet. Just let us know how many pets (and what kind) to expect. Message us with any questions. Dogs will have to be on leash when outside since we have a number of cats and even though your dog may not chase them, the cats would certainly be a bit freaked out. Also it's possible that your pet could get out onto the road which has claimed several of my kitties. Please know if your dog will be OK watching the kitties through the windows or when outside.
We are within reach of several National Parks and other scenic sights for a day trip, including North Rim Grand Canyon, ZION, Bryce, Coral Pink Sand Dunes State park, Pipe Spring National Monument, Grand Staircase Escalante National Reserve and on and on. All around is breathtaking beauty and many easy hikes and mind-blowing vistas just in the neighborhood!
Just to note, there is only 1 bedroom with a queen bed. With notice we can bring in a camp bed, or you can set up your tent on the lawn for extra guests or children.

Our latest addition! A "cowboy cabin" is a simple cabin somewhere between camping and a hotel room. Ours has electricity, heat and AC, a bunk bed that can sleep 3, mini fridge, microwave and wall mounted TV. Like most cowboy cabins, it does not have its own plumbing, but our famously clean private restrooms with showers are just a 50ft walk.

Rest up in peace and quiet in this leafy, shady garden spot. Our place is an oasis in the desert and is admired by all visitors as the most lush, cool spot in Cane Beds. The surrounding vermillion cliffs match the adobe walls of this charming cottage. This unique cottage is a rare example of an earth dwelling. Built about 30 years ago with adobe red clay, sand and straw, it is modernized and recently renovated. You will see two examples of the application of the adobe method in this building.
If you have pets you must add them under EXTRAS. We have it listed under EXPERIENCES and we charge $25 cleaning fee per visit. The way Hipcamp has us do this is not very well done, it's a bit clunky. But Just select one pet if you are staying shorter than a month, two pets if a month or longer. It is not a fee per pet, or per guest, it is per visit. So if you have two pets and are staying a week then select for only one pet. Just let us know how many pets (and what kind) to expect. Message us with any questions. Dogs will have to be on leash when outside since we have a number of cats and even though your dog may not chase them, the cats would certainly be a bit freaked out. Also it's possible that your pet could get out onto the road which has claimed several of my kitties. Please know if your dog will be OK watching the kitties through the windows or when outside.
We are within reach of several National Parks and other scenic sights for a day trip, including North Rim Grand Canyon, ZION, Bryce, Coral Pink Sand Dunes State park, Pipe Spring National Monument, Grand Staircase Escalante National Reserve and on and on. All around is breathtaking beauty and many easy hikes and mind-blowing vistas just in the neighborhood!
Just to note, there is only 1 bedroom with a queen bed. With notice we can bring in a camp bed, or you can set up your tent on the lawn for extra guests or children.

Cabin info ($99/night + $69 cleaning fee): This cabin is a cozy 744 square feet. It's off-grid, but we have a 500 gallon water system, an electric start generator, and a propane tank. We hope to also get some solar power up there soon! It's 1 bedroom, 1 bath, and a loft. Max capacity of 8 people (all-new bedroom mattresses as of 2024):

Gypsy’s cottage is more than just a place to rest your head, it’s an experience. It is so beautifully crafted and has all the amenities you would ever need and so much more! I never expected heat and warm water, and not to mention the sauna! what a delight in the winter temps! I loved looking at all the details taking it all in. The afternoon light gave it such a beautiful glow. I highly recommend a stay here! Easily one of the best Hipcamps I have experienced.

I had a fantastic time in the Tiny Home at Land Beyond Zion. The place is very cozy, with all the amenities I needed. I was able to simply relax, drive up into Zion a few times, and work a little (great internet) over the course of four days. Shanti was very responsive, quick to answer questions and offer tips. I really loved my time at the Gypsy King cottage! What a beautiful and well thought out space to stay in. Russell was a very good host and communicated promptly when I reached out to him. The cabin and the property is so peaceful absolutely gorgeous! I hope to come back and stay for longer next time. I didn’t have the time to try the sauna. My dog loved the fenced in yard and made good friends with the neighbors adorable blue and red heelers!

Weekend Trip to Gypsy’s Cottage
Russell’s cottage matches the photos, clean while also cozy. The cob structure is really beautiful, and fire wood provided was so nice. A wood fired sauna is a treat and an outdoor bath, looking towards the Big Dipper was very special! This is a precious place to stay, and there’s lots of incredible hiking, climbing, and mountain biking with an hour drive. Also the neighbor dogs came to visit which we loved. Thank you Russell and hope to visit again sometime.

The drive to this place is just wonderful! Easy check in with clear instructions. Bathrooms are super clean! Cute little outdoor community space that's next to the game room. We only stayed a night but wished it was for 2. We played card games and watched a movie then passed out! The night sky was starry with a bit of clouds and the full moon lighting up the night! Loved this place!

All I can say is wow! Our experience staying at this cottage was everything we could have wanted it to be and more. The views cannot be overstated, the bed was so cozy, and the cottage itself was so unique and homey. We were sad when it came time to leave! During our stay, we weren’t sure if we wanted to go to the parks or just stay at the cottage. Russell is an incredible host. I messaged him twice with questions, and both times, he answered within a few minutes. You definitely feel that you’re in the country, but town is just ten minutes away for food and groceries. I very highly recommend staying here!
