Nice quiet spot with awesome night skies. Surprised to have wi-fi and a gray water hookup. Stephen is a nice host, site was clean, vault toilet was clean. I would come back.

We were SO HAPPY to find this place away from the hustle and bustle of Moab! James was an excellent host, sharing a map and many pointers for riding SXSs in the area. We were very appreciative to have found this campground.

We felt very comfortable staying at Adventure Haven RV Park. Everything we needed--Electric, Water and sewer hookup...and Wifi! Looking out to snow topped Mt. Peale (I think) was so beautiful. With only 5 sites there wasn't much commotion, so getting a great night sleep was insured. James met us when we arrived and provided documents on how to visit Moab and National Parks. For an out of town view, peace and quiet; visit James and Linda👏

This is an amazing spot near Moab! Sites are large and spread apart. Great views around and amazing stars at night. The sun shade is an awesome touch also.

Weekend Trip to Canyon Trails Ranch

We had a great time camping at Rodney and family’s site. The bath house was clean and it was great to be able to shower after hiking. The location is quiet at night and the stars are beautiful. It is also right next door to the canyon of the ancients.

The wi-fi, well water, and shaded picnic table made this campsite stand out and was well worth the short drive from Moab!

Very quiet and small place. Great road to walk the dog on as very little to no traffic. Beautiful view of the south side of the La Sal Mountains. Very friendly campers as well. And James met us right at the driveway to make sure we got into our site. Rather remote so if you're looking for quiet, this is the place!

2 nights at South-40@LaSal Tent and RV Park

Stars were amazing and not like a crowded campsite. Only 4 sites so we felt like we had the place to ourselves. Don’t miss Wilson’s arch. We went over for sunset because it’s the closest one for sunset. We sat up there and mostly had it to ourselves too. It was our last night in the area and did not want to do another hour drive into one of the parks. Also, the dog could go to that one.

Stephen’s place is very nicely tucked away, so although there is a town nearby, you feel you are well isolated. The camp spot itself is very spacious and has everything one needs. It is about 35 minutes from Moab and 45 minutes from Arches National Park. Stephen is an absolutely wonderful host, and we really enjoyed meeting him. We strongly recommend this site.

5 nights at South-40@LaSal Tent and RV Park

My friend and I stayed 5 nights at La Sal South-40. It was our alternative to Dead Horse State Park when we couldn't get in. We were so happy we couldn't get a spot there because we would have missed this gem. It is so quiet and peaceful. Nothing but birdsong, sage and blue sky. Steve is an excellent host. We had everything we needed. We will definitely stay at La Sal South-40 if we are in the area again. Thanks Steve!

This was a great and peaceful place. Highly recommend! It is dark and quiet at night. Views of the La Sal mountains during the day. James is an excellent host and has a wealth of knowledge. He provided information on things to do in the area. We did almost everything on his list. There is so much to see and do. In addition to Arches and Canyonlands, take the time to explore Monticello Frontier Museum and Welcome Center, Natural Bridges, Moki Dugway, Valley of the Gods, and Bluff Fort. You won’t be disappointed. James provided clear instructions on how to get to the park. He even took the time to call us since we were coming in the back way from Ridgway CO. Hookups worked great!! Space between the sites was so nice. Thank you James for providing a great place to get away for the noise and crowds.

Please read to the bottom of this description, we are open about what this place is like and we care about your experience. What kind of people LIKE the Adventure Haven? Those who like peace and quiet and dark skies. Relaxed full-time RVers, work-at-homes who need strong and fast WiFi, folks on a budget, those who like to support Hipcamp hosts, people looking for inside local information, solo travelers who want to feel safe yet not in a crowded place - like they’re near someone they know, and in a quiet, small town where unusual things are noticed. What kind of people DON’T like the Adventure Haven? People on high-pressure vacations who did not read the listing and expected a commercial RV resort. People who are uncomfortable with rural eye-sores (old cars, and slow projects). People who like street lights, sidewalks and curb appeal. Party people and special event groups (not allowed here). ****If you want a long stay and the calendar shows we are full, please contact us because we might be able to work it out! The Adventure Haven is a five site mini-RV park located in an old and sparsely occupied town with a population of about 300. A uranium boom town in the 1950's, La Sal is now a shadow of past times (and littered with artifact trailers and structures). But we are in beautiful high desert country and we are at the foothills of the La Sal Mountains and the park has a completely unobstructed view of this range! The Adventure Haven feels open, public and safe to most people. Funky and rural, in high pristine desert with a sweet view of the mountain is the overall vibe. The Needles district of Canyonlands is about 1 hour from Camp; Moab and Arches National Park are only 35 minutes away, and there are exciting features to explore right in our neighborhood. • Looking Glass Arch, Lopez Arch and Wilson Arch are all about 15 minutes away! • The world-famous motorcycle route, Colorado 90, begins just 12 miles away, with fine scenery all the way. • Hook and Ladder OHV Trail system is less that five miles. Rim Rocker Jeep trail is close as well.

The homestead was built in 1911 and was one of the original postal pickups in the area. The ranch is located between Mesa Verde National Park, Hovenweep National Monument and backs up to Canyon of the Ancients National Monument. Our family has lived in McElmo Canyon for over 40 years and the campground has hosted camping and outdoor educational groups since 1965. We are a family run ranch with an operating hay farm, horseback riding business, and carriage shop.

Play in nature, relax in comfort. 2 spacious safari-style tents nestled in a small orchard with big views of Canyon of the Ancients. Your stay includes a private bathhouse with indoor and outdoor showers. Both tents have king beds and outdoor lounging areas and share a central campfire area. Clifftop hiking with views as far as Mesa Verde. We only accept one reservation at a time so the camp is all yours. The Details The Orchard Camp includes two large safari-style tents, each with a king bed, water cooler, mini-fridge, sheets & towels. The tents share cooking and camp amenities like a two burner Coleman stove and a propane-fueled "fire pit," and games like corn hole. Your private Bathhouse offers two sinks, two showers, two toilets, an outdoor shower and an outdoor sink for your dishes. The Orchard, with its young fruit trees and wildflowers, is your private garden. The Property You'll have access to roam much of this 38 acre property which includes a hay farm, cliffside and clifftop trail and a section of McElmo Creek. We just ask that folks stay away from the private residence on site, which is well-marked. We love pets and kids but due to the Wildlife with a capital W (and the occasional skunk) with whom we share this land we must limit our guests to humans ages 8 and up. Southwest Colorado is a land of extremes. We get hot, cold and everything in between. The tents are canvas so we offer electric blankets and small space heaters for colder days, and fans for the warmer days. And in advance, we apologize for the high cleaning fee. When you're here you'll understand why with the large showerhouse and all its windows, the large canvas tents and big decks, etc.
