Weekend Trip to Sandy Bottoms River Company

The SBRC crew were very generous to upgrade our stay to the RV so that we could sit right by the river, since the water conditions were too risky for tubing. They were there to greet us and get us situated and settled in when we arrived and went above and beyond accommodating my late booking. Cell reception is weak (its in the country) so messages sometimes take a few minutes to go thru. Everything was very well kept with all amenities provided for, and SBRC even went out of their way to set us up with a fishing pole and some firewood. The small local grocery up the road had everything that we needed saving us the trip into town. Sitting by the river enjoying the sunshine was paradise for us, and I really look forward to going back again soon.

Weekend Trip to Alexander Creek RV and Campground

Alexander Creek RV park is a quiet place to stay. The roaming cattle were a refreshing taste of country living. There is a nicely done club house with clean bathrooms and showers. Currently there is not a fire pit or grill at each site but Wendy was quickly accommodating with bringing a grill over for my use. I would stay here again if my travels bring me back this way.

We loved our weekend stay at this site! The elevated platform was nice for our tent to keep off of the dirt. Waterfall was the best white noise for sleeping. Bathroom did the job and didn’t smell bad. Electricity worked well. Treehouse was amazing! Another camper found an arrowhead, likely from the Squaw. Only drawback was the road to get to the site because it had rained and was muddy but my 2 wheel pickup had no issue. If a car can’t use the road, you will just have to hoof it. Overall great campsite.

I had a wonderful time at Gypsy Moon. Amy was very accommodating and the people there were all very friendly. I had an ideal campsite that was right on the river. Beautiful views and lots of nice public spaces. I hope to return soon with my family for kayaking. . I think the grandkids will love it!

This place is the BEST!! We needed a night away from Dallas, and this was perfect! Clean, great AC even though we woke up to 55 degrees outside and a little chilly! The shower is AWESOME!! Definitely coming back!!

We had a great time at Amy’s place. We stayed at the primitive camp site, but everything was very close by and convenient. They had everything you needed on the property. The animals that lived there were awesome, especially Dirk the goat! I could have just watched the baby goats playing for hours! There were so many songbirds, and the stargazing was great. There were kayaks for rent, that could use a little updating, but while they wouldn’t be for a serious kayaker, (who would have their own gear), they were probably good enough for a novice to play around with. New paddles and seats would be nice. All in all it was a great stay, and I would definitely stay here again!

Weekend Trip to Creekside Brazos Rock Camp & Kayak

We enjoyed camping beside the creek and having the whole place to ourselves most of the time. I also appreciate that there’s a bathroom with an indoor and outdoor shower! The water is cold, but after kayaking I didn’t really mind. The launch point was very difficult to manage, but that might be because the water was low. I loved the fact that a five minute paddle down the creek took us to the Brazos and a beautiful swim beach!

Great place to knock off the winter rust. Hosts super friendly. Trails are marked well. They range from pastures to wooded drainage. They said it was the most people they’ve had at one time, saw one group of kids and a few people on horseback (remember to be respectful to the horses. Some are on a trail for the first time) I hiked in but it looks like most sites are drive in. Bring fishing pole.

3 nights at EcoRich Ranch

Went for 3 nights and 2 day.! This place is amazing. The campsite is a great spot! To the north you have you campsite and easy access to creek. To the south you have wide open pasture and herd of Goats! My boys loved camping here. They enjoyed the hammocks we set up between perfectly placed trees. The fishing in the creek!. They caught several LG bass!. 20 minutes to Dinosaur Valley SP. There is a a water spicket available but we brought our own. They have a compost set up for restroom needs. Would recommend to anyone wanting to get away.

Property is on the farm where I grew up about 9 miles northeast of Glen Rose off of Highway 67. It has various trees on property with cedar, live oak, post oak, etc. Campsites are in front of a wide waterfall which is about 5 feet in height. You can fall asleep with the sound of the waterfalls! We have three ground tent sites and two 14 by 14 deck sites if you want to be up off the ground. Each site has a fire ring and electricity. There are well-marked trails across the creek which go to a meadow and a big treehouse I built several years ago. Glen Rose has several restaurants known for barbecue and Mexican food. Granbury is 25 minutes away with lots of shopping and restaurants around their historic town square. Glen Rose also has a town square.

As the park began to take shape, the Williams' realized what a hidden gem it really is. The natural spring that feeds Joshua's pond was named after Sam's mother, Inez. The area around Eastland is rich with local history, including Captain Eastland and the black bean, Old Rip the horned toad, The Santa Clause bank robbery, Ringling Brothers' Circus, Bonnie & Clyde, etc. In addition the area is known to have had a significant prehistoric Native American population. In fact, Sam and Dee are curators of an impressive collection of artifacts found throughout the area. The park boasts 15 camp sites and a large number of picnic spots along the riverfront and near Joshua's Pond, for day use. The Williams Family carved out a trail system that takes hikers along the rim of rock outcrops, between the gaps of huge rock slabs, along the banks of the Leon River and through a heavy shaded canopy of red oak, pecan and cedar elm. There's even a small cave for the adventurous spelunker. Kayaking is popular on the river and kayaks can be rented on the property. Easy Like a Sunday Morning is nestled just outside the city limits of Granbury, Texas (approximately 3 miles from Granbury Historic square) @ a private residence just outside the city limits. New laundry facility down the road, dump station @ Thorp Springs RV park (20 dollars), Davids Grocery store and Dollar General, all only .03 miles away. This is not really a vacation destination but more a safe place to stay coming to town to explore all Granbury has to offer or a place to catch your breathe while traveling on the road. Friends have enjoyed escaping here for years. I decided to share the zen. It's a bit rough around the edges but if the new venture succeeds it will only get better each time you visit. Patio with a view of Lake Granbury and surrounding valley of at least 3 counties. Communal: Bonfire area when there isn't a burn ban (bring your chair). Also small fire pit on patio.
