Hollie & Davey's ranch was perfect for me. Beautiful property, and you're camping in nature, not a busy KOA park. Secluded and very peaceful. Easy to go get supplies in Giddings. This was a motocamping trip for me and there are great motorcycle roads all over the area. I will definitely be back.

What went well? EVERYTHING was better than described or expected. My wife and I were met by Bo (sorry if not the spelling). Smiling from ear to ear and just an overall wonderful person. He helped us take our things to our cabin and described different things that we could do. Everything from a scavenger hunt to harmonica lessons. Beautiful property nestled away from traffic or prying eyes. The cabins are spaced well far apart so you do not feel like others are in your business. I could not believe how well stocked the cabin was. Plenty of blankets, heaters, ceiling fans, air conditioning, cookware, microwave - this was literally the easiest camping experience I've ever had and I'm 55 lol. They also have a fire pit area for each individual cabin to make the experience even nicer. We spent 2 evenings and just had a blast. There are plenty of places to get wonderful food, beverages or any other thing you and your family might need. This is a must stop for camping on a wonderful level. Each cabin also had its own 5 star outhouse and 5 star is the truth! Absolutely cleaner than public restrooms with every necessity. I highly recommend this camping spot!

Where do I start..We have found our forever camping spot ❤️ When we arrived we were all just in awe of the view..What an amazing spot ( site 4 ) The grass was so green and soft the view of the river amazing.... The site is so private, and huge...We sit up our tents under some trees the shade was perfect . So much space to set up everything. The sounds of nature were on point. The birds singing was very relaxing. The entrance into the river was very easy like walking into the beach. Billy is so very kind . And kept us good with firewood. Also provided us with lifejackets which was so very much appreciated...Our children spent hours swimming and riding up and down the river on the boat and Kayaks that Billy provided...The two fire pits were a huge plus .made cooking so easy....We spund four days and 3 nights there and we were not in a hurry to leave....There is water from a well on the property that made it very easy and convenient for our needs....This is definitely a place that you will not regret camping at....it's our new favorite spot....💞💞💞💞 Thanks Billy for offering such a beautiful place to make memories at ...keep up the good work...we will be back...😊

We had a great time camping on Billy’s land. The river was beautiful and the campsite was spacious and appointed with a fire pit and chairs. Firewood was provided for a low price. The goats and sheep were friendly and cute.

The little peninsula right off the river was beautiful and lush accompanied by canoes that are available to rent and firewood available for purchase as well. . These are unique camping spots along the Guadalupe River. I didn’t exactly understand how unique until I started getting feedback from my campers. The surrounding scenery will lower your blood pressure and do wonders to let you reconnect with nature. Sit back and close your eyes late in the evening and listen to all the wildlife talking to each other. There is faint traffic noise from 90A about a 1/3 of a mile away but it calms down after 7 or so. Currently no amenities but I am in the plans for some portable bathrooms. Please be prepared to cover all your bathroom and cooking needs. I do have some good clean well water from a faucet on the way into the campgrounds. Campfires are permitted. There is a convenience store (Diamond A) with clean bathrooms and a great bbq just 5 miles to the west on 90A and a Walmart and HEB 10 miles to the east on 90A. (Both Diamond A and Walmart sell fishing licenses if you need one. Dogs are allowed at sites 3 and 4 but not at 1 or 2 where my livestock guardian dogs have access to. No matter the size or temperament of your pets you are always expected to have them under your control at ALL times. Beautiful views from every vantage with a high field on one half of the property and a low bottom land near the creek where there are many options for a relaxing, private stay. The property is not bordered by close neighbors or dense housing, just more land so sunsets and rises are wonderful and open. Low ambient light pollution at night means the stars are very bright (and so are the fireflies)! Guests are required to communicate estimated time of arrival well in advance. When arriving, make sure to meet Aaron or a designate at the red gate before entering further into the property. If tent camping, please do not bring glass containers, also you must pack out all garbage and waste. We will be building a 5 acre fruit and vegetable farm with plenty of activities to do. If you like bees, or would like to learn a little about them, we have our own hives here where we are currently raising about 40,000 of them. The property is easy access right off the hwy and only a few miles to town where activities range from hiking, swimming, golfing, history exploring, kayaking and many more activities. Our gorgeous wildlife sanctuary is peaceful, full of nature delights, and away from the hustle and bustle and city lights. Our van spot is secluded and the only spot on the front of the 25-acre property. Nestled right by a pond (Grateful Waters) with a picnic table, it's an amazing place to camp totally privately and immerse yourself in the unbelievable Texas country stars + sunsets. This rural spot is a phenomenal place to watch and hear tons of nature: birds, turtles, armadillos, snakes, bugs, coyotes, rabbits and even some cows next door. Campers are welcome to enjoy the whole front forest and meadow near the camping spot (~5 acres) and wander the mowed trails throughout the front of the property. The back of the property is currently an animal sanctuary and artist residency. We ask Vanlife guests to stay on the front half of the property (away from the houses) while enjoying and exploring on their stay. NOTE: We currently are only accepting fully self contained vehicles for reservations - you must have your own toilet, water source, and trash. We are new to hosting, so we are starting small + easy. We are vanlifers ourselves, so we are so happy to be able to share this super private land with other folks who want to get away from the crowded RV parks and get some privacy. The Huber family began its legacy of farming and ranching in 1868 when Samuel Isaak Huber, an immigrant from Switzerland, settled in Cat Spring, Texas. His son, Henry, and grandson, Lawrence, followed in his footsteps. Lawrence, a pretty good horseman and roper, used his winnings to acquire more land during the depression. He and his wife, Edna Schaffner Huber, willed the land to their twin daughters, Mary and Faye. Mary and her husband, Eddie, settled on the home place in 1970. Since that time, they have continued to build a strong and vibrant beef cattle operation. Eddie and Mary cultivated beautiful fields of Coastal and Tifton. Hay from these fields provides quality nutrition to our cattle during the winter months. Mary and Eddie's daughter, Connie and her family, Aaron and Skye, moved to the home place in 2013 and soon after created Watermelon Hill as a way of honoring the animals they raise and sharing the Huber family's natural way of life. The ranch consists of open fields of hay and grazing pastures intermixed with hardwood and softwood forest. Hilly landscapes are broken with wet weather creeks and fishing ponds located around the ranch. The town of Bellville is 7 miles, Columbus is 14 miles and Brenham is a short 25 miles away. There are multiple places to dine or enjoy a local brew close as well. Don't forget that Antique Week over in Warrenton is just 25 miles away. However, none of that matters if all you want to do is be quite and enjoy some serenity. The closest highway is two miles away so if quiet is all you want we have that in abundance. Camp sites are primitive with no water or electricity.

After many years of dedicated management, Trenckmann and Margie passed the torch to their son Howard and his wife Pamela, who operated the ranch until November 2019.
