Weekend Trip to Jim Ned River Front GetawayWe stayed last weekend at Riverside Campsite in Jim Ned Front Gateway and had a great experience. The site felt secluded and peaceful, with a nice fire ring, some wood nearby, and one of the best features being the open river access right at the edge of camp. It made it easy to fish while still being able to cook, relax, and enjoy camp at the same time.
Ted was very welcoming, and the included kayaks were a huge bonus, especially for the very reasonable price. The river is beautiful and flows into Brownwood Lake after about a 20-minute kayak trip. We did see a few fishing boats and pontoon boats pass by occasionally, but it still felt calm and enjoyable.
This site works well for more than just tent camping. We drove our dually truck with a pop-up truck camper in without any trouble. There is no electricity or water at this site, but Ted does offer RV sites if that better fits your needs.
Overall, this is a very nice place and somewhere we definitely want to return. I know people sometimes hesitate to leave good reviews for places they want to keep to themselves, and I understand that, but this spot is worth recommending. If you like simple camping, fishing, kayaking, and peaceful river access, give this place a try.
