Heavily wooded acreage with goats, horses and donkeys. There is no light pollution and if there are no clouds you can see the stars very clearly. We have a ton of wild birds. Owls and Cara Cara are common. There are deer, feral hog and two resident packs of coyote. We also have ring tail cats, which are nocturnal and rare. The best seasons are October 1st thru the end of April. It gets VERY hot and dry in the summer and can just be miserable. We have a shared bathroom and an outdoor shower and tub. If you are a single woman or a family with children, we don't take other bookings while you are visiting the farm. You will have the place to yourselves. The only exception being my family and I, if we are working or staying over at the farm. We should have a second bunkhouse up and running by fall of 2025. If you are tent camping, you may camp anywhere on the property but there are certain spaces that may make curious horses your roomies.

There are beautiful cypress trees that are magical year round, and there are often small rapids. The Medina River is generally not considered safe in Bandera, TX, due to consistent low flow. Swim at your own risk.

This hill has been called "healing hill" because of how peaceful the sunsets are. You literally melt away when you sit out on your lawn chairs and watch the sun go down. Coyotes yap and howl a little out in the distance, and a rabbit is sure to come darting across the yard when the Texas sun begins to set. The cabin sits on 5 acres, but we ask that you stay at your campsite. The site is located with other cabins and houses, so you will not be alone, but everyone is polite and friendly. Hiking is not available on the property, but there is plenty of outdoor activity near by: Hill Country State Park, Bandera City Park, Medina Lake, Medina River. Garner State Park and Lost Maples State Park is a reasonable drive away to make a day trip. The property is available for glamping and the cabin features a walk-in bedroom with spacious bathroom. You are welcome to pitch your tents and have access to the cabin as well. The cabin sleeps two people, but if you pitch tents, you can have more registered guests for an additional fee of $10 a person. Please ask first, so I can adjust the guest limit BEFORE you arrive. This is South Texas, so occasionally burn bans come into effect. Please be aware of this and with each booking I will keep you alerted to whether or not the fire pit is available for use. In the case of a burn ban, you may choose to stay without fire or find another spot (burn ban in one location is burn ban in all the county). Please feel free to ask questions.

Ace was a wonderful host! The town itself only had a few spots to hang out at and the water isn't easily accessible, but the home was as good as it could be and just as described! The property is adorable and lush. The Den, the showers, the outdoor kitchen all bring an easy breezy vibe to the place. The A frames make it feel like a retreat away and it’s the perfect place for a solo overnight, a couples get away, or a trip with a group of friends. I didn’t try the cowboy pools or the sauna so I’m already making plans to return.

Absolutely Amazing! My husband and I stayed at Boulderdash RV and Camp for three nights at the end of May. We stayed in the Stella RV . Stella was so comfortable. The linens were soft and clean, Stella has everything you need from cooking a hot meal to taking a hot shower. The AC was on point and well needed after hot days by the beautiful clean and clear Medina river. Our hosts were very hospitable and kind. It was hard to leaving back to the real world. Weekend Trip to Sparrow Bend River Retreat

My boyfriend and I had such a wonderful weekend getaway for my birthday at the river retreat! The scamp was just right and was so enjoyable sleeping a rainy night in and was cooled down after being in the sun all day. I’m a chronic overpacker, but I didn’t need to as Angela had everything we needed available. Nice privacy, good views, and overall great time.

It was not what we were expecting at first.. however by the time we settled in it was so quiet and peaceful when were able to enjoy the campsite.. I loved the fact it was camping with the small town close enough to get supplies if needed.. we weren't bothered at anytime by the host .. when we would have a issue arise .. I would just message Ace and everything was taken care of .. without us being aware the problem was resolved .. when I tell you he makes sure it's private... It is! I would like to take my family and friends back because it's definitely a group place! It was definitely a longer count for us we did a 10-day 11 night camp! Very highly recommend this campsite.. we had a hard month starting on March 1st and just continuing into April! This helped all my family reset and I'm thankful for this! Best trip so far!

This place was wonderful! So cute and comfortable with lots of amenities on site. The star-gazing is insane here! We also enjoyed the sauna and a dip in the cowboy pool. Close to fun attractions for outdoor adventures. Great coffee in town at Central Provisions in Center Point. We'd love to come back sometime!

This is my second stay here. The first time was only one evening and just not long enough. This time I brought my pup and stayed 2 nights!!! It was beautiful! Despite a major drop in temperature due to a texas cold front, like 90 to 30 degrees i mean.... we managed to stay comfortable in all conditions! Ellie was so helpful with all my questions. Pup loved it. The 10 minute walk to the river was worth every step! Deer everywhere. Clean and cute. Will book agian..

Weekend Trip to The Charmadillo: Glamping Resort

This was my third time staying at the Charmadillo and first time staying in the Yurt. The entire property is beautiful and I cannot say enough good things about it. The yurt itself is tucked away in the camping area of the property. It was spacious, clean, and relaxing. I would definitely stay in the yurt again and will be back to the Charmadillo hopefully soon.
