Check in is before sunset. We ask that all Hipcampers wait at gate for staff to guide you to your location for safety reasons. Contact us if you arrive ahead of schedule. 2. . These are unique camping spots along the Guadalupe River. I didn’t exactly understand how unique until I started getting feedback from my campers. The surrounding scenery will lower your blood pressure and do wonders to let you reconnect with nature. Sit back and close your eyes late in the evening and listen to all the wildlife talking to each other. There is faint traffic noise from 90A about a 1/3 of a mile away but it calms down after 7 or so. Currently no amenities but I am in the plans for some portable bathrooms. Please be prepared to cover all your bathroom and cooking needs. I do have some good clean well water from a faucet on the way into the campgrounds. Campfires are permitted. There is a convenience store (Diamond A) with clean bathrooms and a great bbq just 5 miles to the west on 90A and a Walmart and HEB 10 miles to the east on 90A. (Both Diamond A and Walmart sell fishing licenses if you need one. Dogs are allowed at sites 3 and 4 but not at 1 or 2 where my livestock guardian dogs have access to. No matter the size or temperament of your pets you are always expected to have them under your control at ALL times. I have very small livestock in the area frequently I am almost always on the property and try to have my phone with me while campers are on site, just let me know what you need and I will do what I can to accommodate you. this place was super cute! Very very close to the river. It was super windy and I’m not a very good fisher so we had no luck with that. Also the porta potty was pretty nasty but luckily I had a pop up toilet.

What an amazing piece of property. It’s on a lazy bend of the Guadalupe and the owner lent us a John boat to take my son out fishing. There are numerous mature pecan trees and it’s just beautiful. It would be perfect were it not for the occasional road noise from Highway 90, and we were camping pretty far away. Not the owners fault obviously. He was a tremendous host; this place is a 9.5/10 with the only flaw keeping it from perfection being the occasional road noise.

This is a wonderful place to camp. I went with some friends, and the site we were on (Pecan orchard river bottom) was perfect. It has a large, open, flat area with plenty of trees (and some great hammock spots) high enough above a calm river that there is no worry of the river rising, with good access to a sandy riverside. This spot would be great for families - I plan on trying to get my family down here soon. You could do quite a large group on this site, and still feel quite isolated, despite having quick access to the road, and a gas station / BBQ place only a few minutes away. The proprietor (Billy) was super easy to communicate with, very responsive, and kept us informed of everything we needed to know. I highly recommend this location, and this host!

4 nights at Oak Forest RV Resort

Not really a ‘HipCamp’, or what we look for in a ‘HipCamp’ (small, off the beaten track, private owner) but Oak Forrest is an excellent, modern, well maintained, full service RV (and mini-home) Park. We stayed here at short notice, another HipCamp provider let us down, and booked in a rush (with little research) as we were visiting Austin for the ACL Music Festival. We spent very little time indeed actually at the RV Park but couldn’t fault it in anyway. While not ‘cheap’ we thought it good value. So, if we were visiting Austin and wanted this type of up-scale RV Park experience, we would certainly use it again. Of its type, I’d consider it excellent.

Weekend Trip to Texas Music River Ranch Events CTR

VIP one was an excellent site with close proximity to the water. I spent most of my time fishing. The river has lots of weed so plan for that if that’s what you’ll be interested in. It would be nice to have some sort of quiet hours enforced. There was a family reunion going on at one of the other sites and they and we’re playing music until 2 AM. I suggest bringing a portable toilet as the Port A John’s were not useable. Staff was always very friendly and even offered free firewood, but we had enough. There was plenty of shade throughout this site. It fit an Overland vehicle tent and a six person dome tent comfortably with plenty of room for more. The dogs had plenty of room to walk around, sniff, and relax and shade.

Really nice fire pit, poker, and seating if no burn ban.

Weekend Trip to River Grove Campground

Billy is a welcoming, warm host who sets your expectations upon arrival. His sheep and goats wandered through a few times and it was magical. We got to fish and relax and our spot was private. The trees on the property are beautiful and old and shady. Great weekend!

1 night at River Grove Campground

I picked Billy land for my first experience of camping and I’m 102% going back. Billy’s hospitality is great. While I was there I witnessed colorful dragonflies, armadillos, goats and the river flowing with fish. At area (4) River bottom there were kayaks and a canoe with life jackets so you can go on the water. The whole scenery was just amazing.
