Weekend Trip to Treehouse on the Creek

Steve was a wonderful gracious host. The treehouse was splendid. The trails are a nice short walk with plenty of critters. At night it looks beautiful seeing the fireflies fill the horizon. I only stayed a night but it was a lovely experience. Steve was very helpful and kind.

Weekend Trip to Treehouse on the Creek

Steve was great! It rained the day before we came and he took the time to let us know it probably wouldn’t be so comfortable with all the mud and accommodated us in the town near by until it dried overnight! He’s super friendly and we enjoyed our stay! The property is amazing is great for a get away!

2 nights at The PARK at Brushy Creek

We just took a camping trip at the Oak View tent at The Park, bushy creek during our daughters spring break. Unfortunately it was super windy the entire time we were there, but we still had a blast. The tent is super well kept, decore is great and air mattresses were great. The location is perfect in that it is far enough to get a good drive going from Dallas, but still within 10 minutes of a store. We definitely plan on going back in the future!

2 nights at Farm Tipi with Sauna

This was my first attempt at taking my young children outdoors overnight. I wanted something as close to camping as possible, and the farm teepee was exactly what I imagined. Melissa was a wonderful hostess! She was kind, thoughtful and attentive. Most importantly however, she recognized that crazed mom look in my eyes and instantly helped me relax with her friendly demeanor. Teepee was super roomy; 2 big comfy beds with room for 2 wild kids to get their crazies out. The farm was a little bit of wild that they could safely explore and start to get comfortable with all the scary spiders and loud roosters crowing LOL Her vinyl collection was insane! I need to come back just to listen to more records. But by far the best part of the trip (besides the crazy delicious farm breakfast), was at night when it got quiet and the moon and stars lit up everything and I felt a peace you just can’t get in the city. Getting back in touch with nature like that was incredibly healing and rejuvenating. 10/10 would recommend!

Nice place. April was very accommodating. There was too much wind to say in the Teepee. We camped in tents. There was too much wind to use the water, we flew kites. We had a great time, but we were very flexible. Keep an open mind and you'll have fun, too!

4 nights at this is Paradise on Lake Texoma

My partner and I had a lovely spring break getaway here on Lake Texoma. We loved watching the sunset over the lake and walking along the coast in the mornings. It rained quite a bit our first two days in town, so we retreated into the nearby town of Denison where we explored bookstores, antique malls, and had the BEST pizza at Say When Brewing. We were grateful for the heater unit in our Kasita and later the AC when it started to warm up again. We had a wonderful time reading, playing board games, watching movies on the projector we brought, and enjoying each others company. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Texoma Woods

Do you dream of being able to fish from your front door? The bell tent is truly the most perfect place to stay. Staying on the dock, the water rocks you to sleep. It is about 15 minutes to the Walmart from location! All in all, the most beautiful property, the kindest hosts, and the most convenient location to camp without fear of forgetting a necessity or two. We will absolutely be back!

1 night at The PARK at Brushy Creek

We had a fantastic experience!! Beautiful land, adorable animals and tent. We had a great time walking down to the creek, and feeding the pigs!! The goats were so fun to see. The tent was very clean and had all of the amenities pictured (even the S'mores bucket!!). I will absolutely be coming back here to stay. Thank you for everything!

Weekend Trip to Farm Tipi with Sauna

The teepee on Melissa’s land is a unique place to stay. The teepee is big! The bed was very comfortable and we appreciated the electric blankets. We stayed warm and cozy all night. The she shed has a big tub and the bathroom was clean. There’s a coffee maker, record player and a sauna! The land has a privet? hedge that provides for a secluded feel. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Perhaps it was because I was the only one adventurous (read as dumb) enough to go camping in winter, but I had this entire property to myself and it was nice! Took a stroll down the creek, fed some pigs and goats, listened to the coyotes at night (it’s the countryside.) Steffenie was nice, and had things available that I wasn’t expecting, like some fire pits and extra wood to burn, a nice loft couch to chill on, and even a port-a-potty, should emergency arise or one come unprepared (I was prepared, but nice to know about backups). The property was nice and clean, and nothing bothered me at all.

Weekend Trip to Texoma Woods

My lovely girlfriend and I decided we needed some time away after a busy month at work so we booked the yurt on Carlos’s land. Let me start off by saying it surpassed our expectations and we had a great experience. They provided a wood stove for the inside of the yurt that kept us very warm through the day and night. He and his wife were a delight and checked in on us to see how everything was which was very kind! If you are having any doubts on booking the yurt we’ll let me put your mind at ease! It is 100% worth it

3 nights at Baby/pets friendly paradise

My family had a great time! Extremely accommodating host and the whole experience was simple which let us concentrate on having fun. We stayed there mainly at night and explored Texas during the day. It sure was nice knowing we had a nice place to return to each evening. It was like having our own personal campground.

The tent and amenities were beautiful!! Stephanie provided extra cooking utensils, complementary s'mores and firewood. The pigs and goats were friendly and we were given permission to feed them as well. There was plenty of land to explore which the dogs loved! It all made for a really relaxing tech free weekend. Would definitely come back!

My 2 boys (8 and 10) had a blast. One of their favorite hip camps yet. We fished both ponds, rode horses and walked the trails. April was a gracious host and very patient and informative while teaching the boys some basics of horseback riding. Will definitely be coming back. Thank you for hosting us, April!

Lighting is provided by solar power or batteries. Tent sites have access to a water spigot, and there's a Port-o-let nearby. This is rural country living; our neighbors' livestock and dogs may make sounds like bleating, barking, oinking, mooing, neighing, squealing, whinnying, braying, or whining at any time of day or night. We are conveniently located one hour north of Dallas Fort Worth, just 30 minutes from McKinney, Sherman, or Greenville, and within 10 miles of Leonard, Whitewright, and Bonham. Trenton is only five miles away. Several lakes are nearby including Lake Bonham, Lake Texoma, and the new Bois' d Arc Lake. Built in the 80's by the Corps of Engineers, Paradise has been a mainstay of the lake for many years. Recently, the current management team are working to grow Paradise into something special. With a huge focus on community and culture, Paradise has tons of space for people to come together and enjoy the company and also areas to wander off and find a quiet lakeside spot to relax. You'll also be able to catch one of the best breathtaking sunsets on the lake! The wildlife we have on the property is amazing! I have deer that sleep in my front yard, opossums, 600 bird species, and my favorite… the armadillos! We offer Kayaking on the property for a fee. We have a beautiful Hammock Garden free for guests to kick back and relax. Texoma Water Taxi is a text away to give guests a ride anywhere on the lake including restaurants. Rock-N A Ranch is roughly 20 minutes away and offers horseback riding. The Cabins and Campsites are within walking distance from each other but far enough away to create that illusion of privacy. We do have a neighborhood close by but you can’t see or hear them due to the woods. In my travels, I try to bring back something I’ve seen or learned to help improve the guest experience and environment. You’ll notice little touches of Asia, Mexico, and even Hill Country Texas! We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service and treat every guest like family. We’re always a text away! You’ll see us out and about on our golf carts. If you ever need anything just holler (: Check-in time is at 3 pm. Camp Tonkawa Woods & Horse Camp

In the early 1900’s an iconic red barn was built near the hilltop along the road between the old Mt. Zion community and Collinsville. Later in the 1900’s, the land was mostly abandoned by its owners, but not by the local fishermen! They knew its woodland fishing pond never dried up, and so was able to support a better population of fish. They also dumped a cornucopia of old motorcycles, cars and farm equipment in the front field. What else were you supposed to do with scrap metal in North Texas horse country? In 2002 the Holtzman family purchased the 35 acre tract of land. They dug a front pond for swimming and paddling, buried the scrap metal (although occasional bits of history still work their way up!), restored and brought horses back to the barn, and began consulting with local biologists about supporting native wildlife. April Holtzman launched Camp Tonkawa Outdoor Learning Center on the property to provide a beautiful, safe place for families to explore and learn about nature. Camp Tonkawa continues to host overnight and day camps with educational programing organized around various themes including: Native American culture, nature awareness, basic camping skills, primitive survival, organic gardening, herbology, outdoor cooking, western days, and horsemanship. We also host field trips and frequently conduct Girl Scout journeys for all levels in the "It's Your Planet, Love it!" series. Due to Covid-19, which limited working with groups for our educational programing, we joined Hip Camp where families who could isolate in nature together on our property.
