In November, we had over 10 inches of rain. It was a blessing for our grass and cover crops, however, the spill way at our campground was severely damaged. Therefore, the pictures of our beautiful pond do not portray the actual visual of what you will see. We are in the process of working with engineers to repair the spillway. You will still enjoy the beautiful sunsets, serene environment and we have three other ponds suitable for fishing.
We offer two full camper hookups and several tent camping options. We have a permanent toilet and sink on-site. We are a full time working farm. We have beef cattle, sheep, horses, goats and chickens. For an additional cost, we offer farm tours and we are willing to cook for our guests. There are several wineries and breweries nearby. The Comanche were quite active up and down this part of the Brazos when the earliest settlers arrived around 1850, until the Comanches' eventual conquest by the Texas Rangers and their Colt pistols around 1870; we have found lots of flint and some arrowheads on high places here. Going further back in history, the Fuller's Folly River Ranch has an abundance of petrified wood, they say that if you have fossilized sea shells you were under water, but if you have petrified wood you had land creatures. Hunting for petrified wood is a fun adventure here. (But leave them for the next person to discover!)
Weatherford is only 10 minutes away and
Granbury is only 20 minutes away; both have great restaurants. And this close to Fort Worth (30min), you could actually commute and have a ranch to come home to at night--note the lower pricing mid week.

In November, we had over 10 inches of rain. It was a blessing for our grass and cover crops, however, the spill way at our campground was severely damaged. Therefore, the pictures of our beautiful pond do not portray the actual visual of what you will see. We are in the process of working with engineers to repair the spillway. You will still enjoy the beautiful sunsets, serene environment and we have three other ponds suitable for fishing.
We offer two full camper hookups and several tent camping options. We have a permanent toilet and sink on-site. We are a full time working farm. We have beef cattle, sheep, horses, goats and chickens. For an additional cost, we offer farm tours and we are willing to cook for our guests. There are several wineries and breweries nearby. Sundancer On The Brazos sits on Comanche Creek in an isolated forest
on a 350 acre working cattle ranch with a quarter mile of river frontage!
The Comanche were quite active up and down this part of the Brazos when the earliest settlers arrived around 1850, until the Comanches' eventual conquest by the Texas Rangers and their Colt pistols around 1870; we have found lots of flint and some arrowheads on high places here. Going further back in history, the Fuller's Folly River Ranch has an abundance of petrified wood, they say that if you have fossilized sea shells you were under water, but if you have petrified wood you had land creatures. Hunting for petrified wood is a fun adventure here. (But leave them for the next person to discover!)
Weatherford is only 10 minutes away and
Granbury is only 20 minutes away; both have great restaurants. And this close to Fort Worth (30min), you could actually commute and have a ranch to come home to at night--note the lower pricing mid week.

The whole property is great to get away from everything. It was our first time camping with a travel trailer and Top of dam was a great location. Plenty of room, great scenery. We rode bikes on all the trails and all the sites were secluded and roomy. It was cold and windy but we made the most of it. We are planning on returning with a bigger group to enjoy it again and utilize more of the amenities.

Don’t be put off by the bumpy road to the property. It’s a lovely riverside (creekside ) location. It was quiet, and we were provided with water, sewer hookup and 30 amp electric. We had some questions and they were answered promptly.
Great place for star gazing. We heard owls at night and lots of birdlife during the day. Possibly coyotes or foxes at night down by the creek. 😊.
We spent a few hours at the nearby Mineral Springs Fossil Park and found some great fossils! Worth the trip.
We are traveling from Maine to California and this campsite was a nice spot to relax for a few days. It’s rural but worth the effort to get there.

I loved fishing on Susan’s land. Beautiful day in late December, caught lots of fish. Spend the day kayaking around looking for the ultimate big bass. Finally, caught the big one right before I packed up. My two dogs had the best time running and swimming for hours. I was able to meet Susan and her husband, super nice people. I would highly recommend this place.

Had a wonderful last minute visit camping with my two dogs and cat. The location was easy to get to and on site directions were straightforward and accurate. Conveniently located about 30mins outside of Weatherford. Hosts were friendly and helpful. All the primitive sites were labeled and each has a picnic table and fire ring. Sites are spaced out similar to what you would see at a state park. We stayed at “the point” right on the river bank. It was beautiful and had access to the water. I saw another review about neighbors lights and dogs bark; I am going to assume they stayed in the same site as us because it’s the farthest back on Gypsy moon also making it the closest to the neighboring rv park. I did notice the lights but you could easily reposition to avoid them and the dogs barked when we first got there and were setting up but then settled. Neither bothered us nor are these things in control of the hosts. Shower and bathroom in good working condition. Lots of chickens, geese and goats out near the rvs but none wandered over to primitive camping. Didn’t go in or inquire about bait shop so nothing to review but did see firewood for sale. Overall very good value for the price and I will gladly return if I’m in the area again.

Amy's place is always a welcome reprieve from the world. Situated on a nice piece of property along the river, it is a very chill vibe. If you are tent camping, I recommend the Far Far Away site. This is my second time here, and it's apparent that continued improvements have been made. She did have to shut down the honor system store because.... well, people suck. And I hate that for Amy, because she is such a sweet lady. But I understand the decision.

This was our third time camping at 4R, and it’s honestly becoming one of our favorite traditions. The campgrounds are always clean, peaceful, and beautifully maintained. My kids love exploring the area — hiking the trails, walking the hills, and finding new little spots each time we come.
Evenings are our favorite part. Sitting around the campfire, making s’mores, and playing games in the tent once the sun goes down always ends up being the highlight of the trip. It’s such a great mix of quiet, nature, and time together without distractions.
Every visit has been consistently great, and this one was no different. If you’re looking for an easy, kid-friendly camping spot with gorgeous views, space to explore, and a warm, relaxing atmosphere, 4R Ranch is hard to beat. We’ll definitely be back.
