This cedar cabin was built in the late 1950's and was the first building in Birch Creek Subdivision and was used as the real estate office when selling land for Subdivision. Joy Moore bought this fixer-upper in 1986 when the oilfield went under, at a youngster in her early twenties and has owned ever since. Lake Somerville is known for the best fishing lake in Texas. Deer run plentiful on the property and will come up close and personal when fed corn. So, stop and pick up a sack or two of deer corn before arrival. The closest city is about a 20 minute drive to Somerville so make sure to have everything you need before camping. Learn more about this land: Pitch your tent or stay in cozy cabin with accommodations like home, including wifi and tv. Private pond with firepit near Lake Somerville. Enjoy fishing and hiking within walking distance of camp and Birch Creek State Park. Launch boats in park. The fishing is excellent! Relax, you are at the lake! Enjoy your stay. The property is located halfway between Brenham and Round Top Texas - midway between Houston and Austin. Glampers have a choice of the bigger yellow cabin with full bath and kitchen (sleeps 5 to 6), the Tiny Green Grasshopper cabin with private outdoor bathroom and queen bed (sleeps 2), our yurt (sleeps 4) with access to the Cabana House, airstream (sleeps 3) with full amenities, or primitive tent sites. We do not have hook ups for trailers. The Blue Cabana House is open to all glampers and has 2 full bathrooms with showers, full kitchen and lounging area with TV, video movies and board games. The wood fire pit is just steps from the Cabana House. The large pavilion has multiple seating areas, gas firepit and outdoor kitchen area for grilling and meal prep. All bathrooms and kitchens are supplied with filtered rain water from our state of the art rain collection systems. We have a labyrinth mowed into one of our pastures, a small pond with sitting area under the trees and a larger pond a short walk from the cabin area for fishing or wildlife viewing.Come relax and hang out on the property or venture into Brenham or Round Top for antique shopping, restaurants and more.

Weekend Trip to The Golden Dome At Golden Pine

This was our first time using HipCamp, and what an incredible experience! Zvi and Thunder (the resident longhorn on site) were extremely responsive hosts and made sure we had everything that we needed for the duration of our stay. The geodesic dome was beautifully decorated with a sophisticated touch, impeccably clean, and incredibly comfortable. The location was private and peaceful—a perfect getaway from the city. We loved how secluded it felt despite being a short 20 minute drive from Bastrop. One of our favorite parts was waking up to a beautiful sunrise, with the option to open the curtains and let the morning light pour in. At night, the views of the sky were absolutely stunning—perfect for stargazing and soaking in the beauty of the quiet countryside. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking to unwind and recharge.

One of the best out there. Bridget was fast to respond and really cares about the guest experience. She went above and beyond a few times unprompted. The sites were great and spaced well apart. Easy drive from Austin. Kayaks available for rent and we took them out to go fishing. Beautiful land that is well taken care of. Plenty of details that show that the property owners care - from the fire pits to the showers to the layout of the sites - all very well thought out. Our family had a wonderful time. One note - you can hear the train horns at night, which kept us up the first night. They didn’t seem to bother us as much the second night. Bring earbuds if you’re sensitive to that. We’ll be back. Thanks again!

Really beautiful site. The river was great for fishing and paddle boarding. The kids had a blast. The bath house was clean and convenient. Bridget was responsive and helpful. The only small negative was noise at night (train, dogs barking); it isn’t terrible but detracts from the beautiful birds in the morning.

The land is really nice for a campground. Only a few sites total on seemingly a few acres. We had the river site which was really nice, great views, etc. Fire pit is giant, picnic table was nice. Host worked hard to fix an electrical box for us within the first hour or so of us arriving. Host was very nice, responsive, and even offered us late check out. Bathroom and shower was clean and not bad at all for a campground- has lights and a sink, hot water, etc. They even have a hose to wash belongings. Cons: River isn’t all that clean to go in, refund policy is a bit extreme. Perhaps River flow was just out of season. Also, if you don’t have a group of 4-6, the cost does seem a hair high to be tent camping. Still it met our needs! Still, we will probably return!

This is a great location for fishing, rafting/boating, or just relaxing by the river. The other sites are spread out enough that even when it was full the weekend we were there, you still feel a sense of privacy. The bath house is an extra benefit with two showers and a clean/well kept toilet, with sinks for washing up. Bridget goes the extra mile to ensure the guests are taken care of. When the guests at the b&b shack up the hill were blasting music after night fall, Bridget responded quickly to our request for them to turn down the volume. Very much appreciated that!

2 nights at Colorado RiverBend Retreat #CRBR

Stayed with my boys, 7 and 9 right at the end of 2024. Everything was as advertised. The bathhouse was clean, and everything worked. Campsite is picturesque sitting on the banks of the river. We had the whole campground to ourselves and the solitude was magnificent. We had deer come right up within 20-30 feet of us. Really enjoyed fishing as well, I brought my own large kayak but we also used one of those available at the campsite. We only fished for about 2.5 hours and I caught 8 bass! Would have gotten an earlier start if I knew the fishing was so good. It’s not easy fishing with the current and wind, but if you know what you’re doing there are a lot of fish out there. Highly recommend, will hopefully get to come back one day.

Beautiful views from every vantage with a high field on one half of the property and a low bottom land near the creek where there are many options for a relaxing, private stay. Chose big sky or a more secluded spot. Incredible wildflowers on display in the spring. The property is not bordered by close neighbors or dense housing, just more land so sunsets and rises are wonderful and open. Low ambient light pollution at night means the stars are very bright (and so are the fireflies)! Guests are required to communicate estimated time of arrival well in advance. When arriving, make sure to meet Aaron or a designate at the red gate before entering further into the property. If tent camping, please do not bring glass containers, also you must pack out all garbage and waste.
